OPUS: Collaboration with AI - aversion and appreciations in organizational context
This research project explores how managers interact with artificial intelligence (AI) in customer relationship management, focusing on AI-generated analyses, predictions, and recommendations. While AI is increasingly used to handle vast amounts of customer data, challenges arise due to its difficulty in recognizing non-standard behaviors and employees' reluctance to rely on its decisions.
The study assumes that optimal results come from human-AI collaboration rather than competition. It aims to understand the emotions tied to AI, including fears and admiration, and investigate conditions that encourage managers to share knowledge with AI and consider its recommendations in decision-making. A key focus is overcoming the "black box problem"—the difficulty in understanding AI’s decision-making—to increase trust and acceptance.
This international study will survey 1,700 managers over three years, classifying them based on their attitudes toward AI and identifying ways to enhance cooperation. The project will contribute to knowledge about AI-human collaboration, its impact on managerial decisions, and guidelines for designing AI systems that are more transparent and widely accepted.
