Eigenvector Expansion and Petermann Factor for Ohmically Damped Oscillators
Correlation functions in ohmically damped
systems such as coupled harmonic oscillators or optical resonators can be
expressed as a single sum over modes (which are not power-orthogonal), with
each term multiplied by the Petermann factor (PF) , leading to "excess
noise" when . It is shown that is common rather than
exceptional, that can be large even for weak damping, and that the PF
appears in other processes as well: for example, a time-independent
perturbation \sim\ep leads to a frequency shift \sim \ep C_j. The
coalescence of () eigenvectors gives rise to a critical point, which
exhibits "giant excess noise" (). At critical points, the
divergent parts of contributions to cancel, while time-independent

Understanding sport tourists' motives and perceptions of Sabah, Malaysia as a sport tourist destination
With the focus on Mount Kinabalu as a sport tourism destination, the push and pull theory (Dann, 1981) was
adopted as framework to examine the travel motivation of sport tourists visiting Sabah, Malaysia. The Leisure
Motivation Scale (Beard & Ragheb, 1983) and semantic differential instrument by Attle (1996) were utilized to
measure the push motives and pull factors. Analyses of data include descriptive statistics, t-test and logistic
regression. A sample of 195 mountain climbers was selected with the majority comprising of international active
sport tourists respondents (71.1%). Statistically, domestic active sport tourists at Mount Kinabalu were more
significantly motivated by two out of four push motives namely; competence-mastery and social factors. With
respect to the pull factors, analysis of result from the logistic regression shows there were few attributes which
has been identified to be perceived differently by the domestic and international tourists. The findings of the
study implied that: (1) market segmentations can be made according to the demographic and travel characteristics information as well as by their travel motivations among domestics and internationals sport tourists; (2) theoretical significance and practical marketing implications in addition with the recommendations
for local tourism authority, destination managers and marketers are discussed
Comparison of engagement and emotional responses of older and younger adults interacting with 3D cultural heritage artefacts on personal devices
The availability of advanced software and less expensive hardware allows museums to preserve and share artefacts digitally. As a result, museums are frequently making their collections accessible online as interactive, 3D models. This could lead to the unique situation of viewing the digital artefact before the physical artefact. Experiencing artefacts digitally outside of the museum on personal devices may affect the user's ability to emotionally connect to the artefacts. This study examines how two target populations of young adults (18–21 years) and the elderly (65 years and older) responded to seeing cultural heritage artefacts in three different modalities: augmented reality on a tablet, 3D models on a laptop, and then physical artefacts. Specifically, the time spent, enjoyment, and emotional responses were analysed. Results revealed that regardless of age, the digital modalities were enjoyable and encouraged emotional responses. Seeing the physical artefacts after the digital ones did not lessen their enjoyment or emotions felt. These findings aim to provide an insight into the effectiveness of 3D artefacts viewed on personal devices and artefacts shown outside of the museum for encouraging emotional responses from older and younger people
The lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community online: discussions of bullying and self-disclosure in YouTube videos
Computer-mediated communication has become a popular platform for identity construction and experimentation as well as social interaction for those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT). The creation of user-generated videos has allowed content creators to share experiences on LGBT topics. With bullying becoming more common amongst LGBT youth, it is important to obtain a greater understanding of this phenomenon. In our study, we report on the analysis of 151 YouTube videos which were identified as having LGBT- and bullying-related content. The analysis reveals how content creators openly disclose personal information about themselves and their experiences in a non-anonymous rhetoric with an unknown public. These disclosures could indicate a desire to seek friendship, support and provide empathy
Spectrum of Sizes for Perfect Deletion-Correcting Codes
One peculiarity with deletion-correcting codes is that perfect
-deletion-correcting codes of the same length over the same alphabet can
have different numbers of codewords, because the balls of radius with
respect to the Levenshte\u{\i}n distance may be of different sizes. There is
interest, therefore, in determining all possible sizes of a perfect
-deletion-correcting code, given the length and the alphabet size~.
In this paper, we determine completely the spectrum of possible sizes for
perfect -ary 1-deletion-correcting codes of length three for all , and
perfect -ary 2-deletion-correcting codes of length four for almost all ,

Hamiltonian and Linear-Space Structure for Damped Oscillators: I. General Theory
The phase space of damped linear oscillators is endowed with a bilinear
map under which the evolution operator is symmetric. This analog of
self-adjointness allows properties familiar from conservative systems to be
recovered, e.g., eigenvectors are "orthogonal" under the bilinear map and obey

On fast CP violating interactions in leptogenesis
We show that when the relevant CP violating interactions in leptogenesis are
fast, the different matter density asymmetries are determined at each instant
by a balance condition between the amount of asymmetry being created and
destroyed. This fact allows to understand in a simple way many features of
leptogenesis in the strong washout regime. In particular, we find some
non-trivial effects of flavour changing interactions that conserve lepton
number, which are specially relevant in models for leptogenesis that rely
