Effects of personality types and organizational democracy perceptions of employees on employees' organizational dissent behaviors and organizational silence
Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, İşletme Ana Bilim DalıBu çalışmanın amacı çalışanların, Enneagram kişilik özellikleri modeline dayalı olarak, kişilik özellikleri ile örgütsel demokrasi algılarının örgütsel muhalefet davranışları ve örgütsel sessizlikleri üzerine etkisini araştırmaktır. Alan yazında daha önce örgütsel demokrasi ile örgütsel sessizlik, örgütsel demokrasi ile örgütsel muhalefet, kişilik özellikleri ile örgütsel muhalefet ve kişilik özellikleri ile örgütsel sessizlik kavramlarının bir arada olduğu araştırmalar olmasına rağmen gerçekleştirilen alan yazın incelemesi sınırlılığında bu dört kavramın bir arada araştırıldığı bir örneğe rastlanamamıştır. Enneagram kişİlik modelinin de alan yazında nicel düzlemde yapılan araştırmalarının kısıtlı sayıda olduğu gözlemlenmiş ve bu çalışmanın alan yazına hem dört kavramın bir arada olması nedeniyle hem de Enneagram'ın nicel bir çalışmada kullanılması anlamında destek ve örnek sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Araştırmanın örneklemi İstanbul ilindeki çeşitli sektörlerde çalışan beyaz yakalı çalışanları kapsayan 509 kişiden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada kullanılan anket Enneagram, Örgütsel Demokrasi, Örgütsel Muhalefet ile Örgütsel Sessizlik ölçeklerini barındırmakta ve demografik ifadelerle beraber 98 sorudan oluşmaktadır. Anketten elde edilen veriler SPSS 25.00 istatistik programı ve basit doğrusal regresyon yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre Örgütsel Demokrasinin Örgütsel Muhalefet üzerinde pozitif yönlü, Örgütsel Sessizlik üzerinde negatif yönlü etkisi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kişilik Özellikleri Uzlaşmacı ve Yardımcı tip kişilik özelliklerinin Örgütsel Muhalefet üzerinde negatif, Maceracı ve Sorgulayan tip kişilik özelliklerinin ise pozitif etkileri olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Örgütsel Sessizlik üzerinde Sorgulayan ve Reis tip kişilerin kişilik özelliklerinin negatif etkileri olduğu saptanmıştır. Uzlaşmacı, Mükemmeliyetçi, Gözlemci ve Sorgulayan tip kişilerin kişilik özelliklerinin Örgütsel Demokrasi üzerinde pozitif etkisi tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlara dayalı olarak örgütsel demokrasinin önemi bir kez daha ortaya konmuş, Farklı Enneagram kişilik tiplerine göre çalışanların örgütsel demokrasi, örgütsel muhalefet ve örgütsel sessizlik algıları ve davranışları ortaya konulmuştur.This study aimed to investigate the effect of employees' perceptions of organizational democracy on organizational dissent behavior and organizational silence, based on the employee's Enneagram personality traits model. Although there are studies where organizational democracy and organizational dissent, personality traits and organizational silence, organizational democracy and organizational silence, personality traits and organizational dissent concepts were theorized together before, within the scope of our research on literature, there is no example of these four concepts being investigated together in a research. The Enneagram personality model has also been observed to have limited number of studies conducted in the quantitative research in the literature, and it is thought that this study will provide support and become an example to the literature both in terms of the use of Enneagram in a quantitative study and four concepts coming together in a reserach.. The sample of the study consisted of 509 white collar employees working in various sectors in Istanbul area. The questionnaire used within the scope of the research included the Enneagram, Organizational Democracy, Organizational Dissent and Organizational Silence scales and consisted of 98 questions including demographic ones. The data obtained from the questionnaire was analyzed with SPSS 25.00 statistical program and Simple Linear Regression method. According to the findings of the research, Organizational Democracy had a positive effect on Organizational Dissent and Organizational Democracy had a negative effect on Organizational Silence. In terms of Personality Traits Helper and Peacemaker type persons have been found to have negative effects on Organizational Dissent, and Enthusiast and Investigator type persons have positive effects. It has been determined that Investigator s and Challenger types have negative effects on Organizational Silence. Peacemaker, Perfectionist, Investigator and Loyalist type people have a positive effect on organizational democracy. Based on these results, the importance of organizational democracy was once again demonstrated, and the perceptions and behaviors of employees on organizational democracy, organizational opposition and organizational silence according to different Enneagram personality types were revealed
Comparison of a ceramidase inhibitor (ceranib-2) with C2 ceramide and cisplatin on cytotoxicity and apoptosis of glioma cells
WOS: 000435091000007PubMed ID: 30814888Inhibiting ceramidase activity in cancer cells has been identified as a promising target for cancer therapy in recent studies. Thus, we examined the possible role of ceranib-2, a novel ceramidase inhibitor, on growth and apoptotic mechanisms of the human normal glia cell line (HNA), human glioma cell lines (T-98G and U-87MG), and a rat glioma cell line (C6). We also compared the results with the effects of C2 ceramide and cisplatin. We determined the in vitro survival rate with MTT assay, apoptosis with flow cytometry, gene expressions with qRT-PCR, and statistical significance by one-way analysis of variance together with Tukey's test. Calculated from MTT outcomes, the inhibitory ranking was as follows: T-98G > U-87MG > C6 > HNA. Ceranib-2 had the most growth-suppressive activity on human T-98G cells with an IC50 of 7 mu M for 24 h and 0.9 mu M for 48 h. Only the 25 mu M dose of ceranib-2 induced apoptosis of human T-98G and U-87MG cells after 24 h of treatment; however, it increased apoptosis of C6 cells dose- and time-dependently. Ceranib-2 increased the cytochrome c gene expression level during 24 h in T-98G cells. Ceranib-2 had cytotoxic and apoptotic effects on glioma cells but the cytotoxic effect was weaker on normal glia cells. Perforated mixed carcinoid-adenocarcinoma in transverse colon and at gastroenterostomy site: case report
Goblet cell carcinoid of the large intestine is a rare neoplasm, usually located in ascending colon and rectum. A 60-year-old male patient underwent surgery after the diagnosis of acute abdomen. Exploratory laparotomy revealed perforation with a diameter of 1 cm at the site of the previously performed gastroenterostomy and dilatation of the right colic flexure, secondary to a solid obstructive mass located in the mid-portion of transverse colon. Histopathological investigation of the biopsies, taken from the gastroenterostomy site and the tumor, revealed mixed carcinoid-adenocarcinoma with carcinoid component, predominantly composed of goblet cells. Three cycles of FOLFOX-4 protocol was administered. Following respiratory distress secondary to pulmonary metastasis, the patient's condition deteriorated and subsequently died in the fourth postoperative month. Our aim with this paper is to point out that more cases should be reported for more effective diagnosis, histopathological study, clinical investigation, treatment and prognosis of this specific neoplasm

Study of Afşin-Elbistan lignite mines drainage water and water quality of coal basin
AEL İşletme Müdürlüğü işletme sahasında yaklaşık 350 kuyu ile drenaj yapılmakta ve ayda ortalama 4.4 milyon m3 su drene edilmektedir. Bu suların %96'sı AEL'nin sadece GD'sunu kapsayan ve karstik Köseyahya Napı'nın kireçtaşlarından, diğer kısmı Ahmetçik formasyonu olarak adlandırılan sedimanter araziden kaynaklanmaktadır. Drenajı yapılan sular 16 km uzunluğundaki üstü açık drenaj kanalı ile Hurman Çayı'na boşaltılmaktadır. Bu suların bir kısmı Hurman Çayı'na ulaşmadan alınarak tarımsal sulamada kullanılmaktadır. Karstik sahadaki bazı kuyular İl Özel İdare'ye ve çevre belediyelere tahsis edilerek içme suyu olarak kullandırılmaktadır. Ayrıca, AEL'nin ihtiyacı olan içme ve kullanım suyu karstik arazideki su kuyularından sağlanmaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında öncelikle drene edilen suların içme suyu açısından TSE-266'ya sulama suyu açısından Su Kirliliği Kontrolü Yönetmeliği Teknik Usuller Tebliği Sulama Suyu Kriterlerine uygunluğu değerlendirilmiştir. Bunun için sedimanter, karstik su kuyularından ve yüzey drenaj sularından örnekler alınmış, su kimyası analizleri yaptırılmıştır. Ayrıca Afşin-Elbistan Kömür Havzasının su kalitesini incelemek ve İşletmenin etkilerini görebilmek için yüzey ve yeraltı olmak üzere havza giriş ve çıkışından örnekler alınmıştır. Su kalitesini belirlemek için alınan örnekler farklı diyagramlar yardımıyla değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak; AEL'nin yeraltı sularına ve Hurman Çayına olumsuz bir etkisine rastlanmamıştır. Yeraltı drenaj suları sulama suyu olarak kullanılmaya, karstik sahadaki sular ise içme suyu olarak değerlendirilmeye uygundur. Yüzey drenaj sularının ise bir kısmı kullanmaya uygun bulunmuş, bir kısmı ise uygun bulunmamıştır.Drainage is done with approximately 350 wells and approximately 4.4 millions m3 of water is drained per month from Afşin-Elbistan Lignite Mine 96 % of the water is due to Köseyahya Nap limestone, covering only South-West of the mine and with karstic structure, other portion is due to sedimentary land called as Ahmetçik Formation. The drained water is discharged to Hurman stream through 16 km long open drainage channel. Some of the water is taken and used for irrigation of agricultural fields before it reaches Hurman stream. Some wells in karstic land are allocated to the State Provincial Administration and to surrounding municipalities for utilization as drinking water. Additionally, water needed by the mine is being provided from the drained karstic land. In this study, compliance of the drained water as drinking water with TSE 266, and also compliance of the drained water as irrigation water with Water Pollution Control Regulation Technical Procedures Report Irrigation Water Criteria has been evaluated. Therefore, water chemistry analyses have been done by taking samples from sedimentary land, karstic land and surface drainage. In addition, samples have been obtained from each of entry and exit of the basin, surface and groundwater, in order to investigate water quality and observe the effects of the operation in Afşin-Elbistan Basin. Samples have been evaluted by help of different diagrams to determine water quality. As a result, AEL lignite mine has been found to have no negative effect on groundwater and Hurman stream in terms of water quality. All of the drained water has been found appropriate for being used as irrigation water and the water in karstic land has been found appropriate for being used as drinking water. In the basin outlet waters, no sign of contamination has been observed for surface water and groundwater. Some draigned surface water has been found appropriate for irrigation but same has been not
