    Get PDF
Accurate prediction of the results of college student placement can help institutions detect potential risk students and tailor career-readiness interventions. In this study, using a publicly available dataset of 10,000 students with eight predictors intelligence quotient (IQ), previous semester\u27s performance, cumulative grade point average (CGPA), academic rating, internship or not, extra-curricular score, communication skills, and projects completed, we develop and validate a hybrid stacking ensemble classifier. After numerical feature standardization and binary category encoding, we trained three base learners (support vector machine, random forest, and logistic regression) and combined them with a logistic regression meta-learner. Comparative experiments on an 80/20 train–test split show that the stacking ensemble outperforms individual models, with 100 % accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score on the test set, whereas logistic regression alone attained 90.4 % accuracy. A correlation analysis declares CGPA and performance in the previous semester as the single best predictors for placement. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and confusion matrices also confirm the greater discrimination power and stability of the ensemble. All these results confirm that stacking heterogeneous classifiers provides a stable and interpretable approach to student placement prediction, with potential use in academic advising and early warning systems

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT   Temporomandibular joint (TMJ), is a synovial joint, involves two bones particularly mandible and temporal bone. Since TMJ involve muscles of mastication and jaw movement therefore, its disorders damages surrounding tissues and minimizes its function. The etiology of TMJ disorders is complex and multifactorial including genetic, traumatic, inflammatory, degenerative and idiopathic disorders as well as behavioral factors (parafunctional habits). Generally females are more affected because of increased level of estrogen hormone affecting bone and cartilage; moreover, emotional factors (anxiety, stress and depression) are also higher in females compared to males. Genetic disorders of TMJ include many genes, which contribute in bone formation and inflammation mediation.   This article is focused on etiology of temporomandibular joint disorders and involvement of certain genes and other predisposing factors leading to pathophysiology of its development. Information regarding TMJ disorders was retrieved through PubMed, Medline and other authentic search engines available in the University, information was collected through reviews, research, and epidemiological studies published up to 2016.   This review article concludes urgent management is sought in 1-2% young children, 5% teenagers and 5-12% adults. In order to avoid any iatrogenic injury it is mandatory to do prior extensive and detailed physical examination of TMJ

The Impact of Children on Parental Purchasing Behavior

    Get PDF
Children have a major influence on their parents' purchases of similar products. Children are a dominant market for marketers to consider when making strategy choices since they are part of a family unit. This market is active in three ways: first, it is a large market in and of itself; second, it is a key influencer in facilitating purchasing decisions; and third, it is a possible future market. The focus of this research is on children's second position. They become the focal point of family expectations, and parents are more receptive to their recommendations when making purchases. This research study explains the effect of children on parental purchase behavior in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi using a survey as a data collection method. Parents are among the participants in this research. The relationship between parental purchase behavior (PPB) and age of child (AOC), importance of child (IOC), product category (PC), communication pattern (CP), and family orientation is revealed by multiple regression analysis (FO). The age of the child (AOC), family orientation (FO), and Product Category (PC) are the three most significant factors that affect parental buying behavior. The paper concludes that children have a major influence on their parents' decisions

This study aims to describe how the knowledge of government officials of Bandung City, about the 4K concept (family gathering, family interacting, family caring, and family empowerment) can increase family resilience in the city of Bandung. This study uses qualitative research methods, with a social construction of reality approach. The research was conducted in 2 sub-districts that have a very low level of family resilience, namely Cibeunying Kidul District and Kiaracondong District. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews with the government officials and community in the selected sub-districts. The results of the study can be concluded as follows: (1) The family resilience in Cibeunying Kidul Subdistrict, represented by Pasir Layung, Sukapada, and Cicadas Villages, and Kiaracondong Subdistrict, represented by Cicaheum, Sukapura, and Kebon Jayanti Villages is still relatively low, meaning that the ability of residents to build independent, prosperous, and harmonious families has not been achieved. Of the 5 dimensions of family resilience, the most prominent problems were in the aspect of communication disharmony and domestic violence, child marriage, malnutrition, stunting, and divorce. (2) The government officials knowledge in Cibeunying Kidul District and Kiaracondong District about the 4K concept in communication family is an effort to increase family resilience only at the level of knowing and understanding. Meanwhile, at the stage of analyzing the aspects contained in the 4K concept (family gathering, family interacting, family empowering, and family sharing) it is still not optimal. Keywords: family communication, 4K concept, family resilience, cognitio

Hybrid Microwave sintering has become a growing interest for heating and synthesizing ceramic materials due to its capabilities in successfully enhancing densification and improving mechanical and structural properties. Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) based cutting inserts have outstanding properties for machining hard materials such as cast iron, hard steel and nickel based super alloys. This research aims to analyze the effect of different susceptors on the tool life of various Si3N4 inserts (90Si3N4 4Y2O3 2.5MgO 2Al2O3 1.5SiO) that have been synthesized in machining Inconel 718. The Si3N4 inserts have been synthesized by means of Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) at 1800°C and followed by Hybrid Microwave (HMW) post-sintering at 200°C for 10 minutes with the aid of three different susceptors; Silicon Carbide (SiC), Graphite (G) and mixture of (SiC + G) powders. Density, hardness, micro structural properties and tool wear were analyzed. HMW post sintering for only 10 minutes using SiC, G and SiC+G susceptors enhanced the density (97-98%TD) and hardness (27-58%) significantly. Finer uniform grains and less porosities were produced particularly for Si3N4 inserts produced by HMW (SiC+G) when compared with HMW (SiC) and HMW (G). Tool life for the Si3N4 inserts were improved by 10-17% HMW(SiC), 20-53 % HMW(G) and 32-88% HMW(SiC+G) for the cutting speeds of 100, 125 and 160 m/min. Hence, the mixture of SiC +G powders as susceptors produced the best outcome for Si3N4 inserts with enhanced densification, hardness, wear resistance, and longer tool life (88% increment at 100 m/min) when compared with the commercial tool (RNGN 6060) in machining Inconel 718
