This experience is a teaching unit in which the general methodology (theoretical presentations, videos work …) was incorporated life stories as a teaching resource, particularly by the book "Aphrodite has filled my heart. Life stories of migrant women, lesbians and bisexuals "(Algueró et al., 2012). When the experience was over and for doing a review of it, the teacher responsible of the unit was interviewed. As the results showed us, the teacher stands out the content and transmitted values and attitudinal change in student

In this study we analyse the relationships between three variables of self-evaluations, being self esteem, self efficacy and life satisfaction. Moreover, we study the evolution of these three aspects during adolescence paying attention to gender differences. The sample was made up of 2400 teenagers aged between 12 and 17 years old taken from 20 high schools in Western Andalusia. In this study we also analyse the relationship between teenager self evaluation and parenting style. Our results show, on one hand, high correlation between self esteem, self efficacy and life satisfaction, and on the other hand, between teenager self evaluation and parenting style. In fact, parental warmth and communication and sense of humor show high correlation with adolescent self evaluation. We also found increasing differences between boys and girls as regards their self esteem, self efficacy and life satisfaction as adolescence progressed. Specifically, little changed was observed in boys, whereas girls’ self-evaluation decreased with age

Evaluation and adaptation of vocational and career guidance of students with diversity in secondary education in an inclusive context

The lack of studies on vocational and career guidance of students with diversity in an inclusive situation led us to evaluate the needs guidance of these students, from the perception of teachers and the needs expressed by the students involved. The results point to a need for measures of attention to diversity, lack of teacher training and resources. It is not known by students other ways to graduate other than ordinary ones, options and itineraries to continue whatever they want to do. We propose a specific orientation program for students with diversity. This program is applicable to all students in high school and it will addresses issues such as self-knowledge; professional fields; vocational groups; academic and professional itinerary and decision-making

Renewable energy research progress in Mexico: a review

    Get PDF
Mexico ranks 9th in the world in crude oil reserves, 4th in natural gas reserves in America and it is also highly rich in renewable energy sources (solar, wind, biomasss, hydropower and geothermal). However, the potential of this type of energy has not been fully exploited. Hydropower is the renewable energy source with the highest installed capacity within the country (11,603 MW), while geothermal power capacity (958 MW) makes Mexico to be ranked 4th in the use of this energy worldwide. Wind energy potential is concentrated in five different zones, mainly in the state of Oaxaca, and solar energy has a high potential due to Mexico's ideal location in the so called Solar Belt. Biomass energy has the highest potential (2635 to 3771 PJ/year) and has been the subject of the highest number of research publications in the country during the last 30 years (1982-2012). Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico has led research publications in hydropower, wind, solar and biomass energy and Instituto de Investigaciones Electricas in geothermal energy during this period. According to the General Law for Climate Change the country has set the goal of generating 35% of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2024. This paper presents an overview of the renewable energy options available in Mexico, current status, main positive results to date and future potential. It also analyses barriers hindering improvements and proposes pertinent solutions. © 2014 The Authors

3D Digital techniques applied to new design products based on cultural heritage elements

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to present the 3D digitalization and posterior treatment of complex heritage elements existing in the Alhambra Palace, so that they can be used as the starting point for the development of new products. Not only are the direct results of 3D digitalization exploitable and essential for the documentation, recording and research of heritage elements, but also these 3D files compiling the original elements are to be used as the blueprints for the future development of new products and designs, such as constructive elements regarding their application at interior design and architecture projects. The enrichment provided in new products is undeniable as they will depart from the same provenance as the heritage element, which allows the product to increase its market value, and the opening of new Market niches. It is very important to highlight that any new product creation process will be grounded in full respect and protection of cultural heritage. For this reason, under no circumstances will the original elements be completely reproduced, not even partial developments of them since this action could undergo the risk of a non-responsible reproduction of the heritage elements.Universidad de Málaga.
