Reversing the training effect in exchange biased CoO/Co bilayers
We performed a detailed study of the training effect in exchange biased
CoO/Co bilayers. High-resolution measurements of the anisotropic
magnetoresistance (AMR) are consistent with nucleation of magnetic domains in
the antiferromagnetic CoO layer during the first magnetization reversal. This
accounts for the enhanced spin rotation observed in the ferromagnetic Co layer
for all subsequent reversals. Surprisingly, the AMR measurements as well as
magnetization measurements reveal that it is possible to partially reinduce the
untrained state by performing a hysteresis measurement with an in plane
external field perpendicular to the cooling field. Indeed, the next hysteresis
loop obtained in a field parallel to the cooling field resembles the initial
asymmetric hysteresis loop, but with a reduced amount of spin rotation
occurring at the first coercive field. This implies that the antiferromagnetic
domains, which are created during the first reversal after cooling, can be

Visual SLAM and Vision-Based Localization for Humanoid Robots
In this article will be presented the problem of real-time localization for humanoid robots. For this purpose we using a single camera as the only sensor.nbsp In order to obtain fully autonomous robots an accurate localization of the robot in the world is much more than desirable. Moreover, if we can obtain an accurate localization in real-time, than we can use the remaining computational resources to perform other important humanoid robotic tasks such as planning [1], 3D object modeling [2] or visual perception [3]
Trajectory structures and transport
The special problem of transport in 2-dimensional divergence-free stochastic
velocity fields is studied by developing a statistical approach, the nested
subensemble method. The nonlinear process of trapping determined by such fields
generates trajectory structures whose statistical characteristics are

Stability of adhesion clusters under constant force
We solve the stochastic equations for a cluster of parallel bonds with shared
constant loading, rebinding and the completely dissociated state as an
absorbing boundary. In the small force regime, cluster lifetime grows only
logarithmically with bond number for weak rebinding, but exponentially for
strong rebinding. Therefore rebinding is essential to ensure physiological
lifetimes. The number of bonds decays exponentially with time for most cases,
but in the intermediate force regime, a small increase in loading can lead to
much faster decay. This effect might be used by cell-matrix adhesions to induce

FlashCam: a fully-digital camera for the medium-sized telescopes of the Cherenkov Telescope Array
The FlashCam group is currently preparing photomultiplier-tube based cameras
proposed for the medium-sized telescopes (MST) of the Cherenkov Telescope Array
(CTA). The cameras are designed around the FlashCam readout concept which is
the first fully-digital readout system for Cherenkov cameras, based on
commercial FADCs and FPGAs as key components for the front-end electronics
modules and a high performance camera server as back-end. This contribution
describes the progress of the full-scale FlashCam camera prototype currently
under construction, as well as performance results also obtained with earlier
demonstrator setups. Plans towards the production and implementation of

Performance Verification of the FlashCam Prototype Camera for the Cherenkov Telescope Array
The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) is a future gamma-ray observatory that is
planned to significantly improve upon the sensitivity and precision of the
current generation of Cherenkov telescopes. The observatory will consist of
several dozens of telescopes with different sizes and equipped with different
types of cameras. Of these, the FlashCam camera system is the first to
implement a fully digital signal processing chain which allows for a traceable,
configurable trigger scheme and flexible signal reconstruction. As of autumn
2016, a prototype FlashCam camera for the medium-sized telescopes of CTA nears
completion. First results of the ongoing system tests demonstrate that the
signal chain and the readout system surpass CTA requirements. The stability of

Rupture of multiple parallel molecular bonds under dynamic loading
Biological adhesion often involves several pairs of specific receptor-ligand
molecules. Using rate equations, we study theoretically the rupture of such
multiple parallel bonds under dynamic loading assisted by thermal activation.
For a simple generic type of cooperativity, both the rupture time and force
exhibit several different scaling regimes. The dependence of the rupture force
on the number of bonds is predicted to be either linear, like a square root or
