Moving NRQCD for B Form Factors at High Recoil
We derive the continuum and lattice tree-level moving NRQCD (mNRQCD) through
order 1/m^2. mNRQCD is a generalization of NRQCD for dealing with hadrons with
nonzero velocity u_mu. The quark's total momentum is written as P^mu=Mu^mu+k^mu
where k^mu << Mu^mu is discretized and Mu^mu is treated exactly. Radiative
corrections to couplings on the lattice are discussed. mNRQCD is particularly
useful for calculating B->pi and B->D form factors since errors are similar at
low and high recoil.Comment: 3 pages, 1 figure, Lattice2002(heavyquark
Do stronger intellectual property rights increase international technology transfer? Empirical evidence from U.S. firm-level panel data
One of the alleged benefits of the recent global movement to strengthen intellectual property rights (IPRs) is that such reforms accelerate transfers of technology between countries. The paper examines how technology transfer among U.S. multinational firms changes in response to a series of IPR reforms undertaken by 12 countries over the 1982-99 period. The analysis of detailed firm-level data reveal that royalty payments for intangibles transferred to affiliates increase at the time of reforms, as do affiliate research and development (R&D) expenditures and total levels of foreign patent applications. Increases in royalty payments and R&D expenditures are more than 20 percent larger among affiliates of parent companies that use U.S. patents more extensively prior to reform and therefore are expected to value IPR reform most.Environmental Economics&Policies,ICT Policy and Strategies,Real&Intellectual Property Law,General Technology,Banks&Banking Reform,Environmental Economics&Policies,Real&Intellectual Property Law,ICT Policy and Strategies,General Technology,Education for the Knowledge Economy

B meson decays at high velocity from mNRQCD
The moving NRQCD (mNRQCD) formalism facilitates the simulation of heavy meson
decays at large recoil. We present preliminary results for a number of
quantities including the energy splittings and the meson decay constant
that demonstrate that the formalism is accurate over a range of momenta.Comment: Talk presented at Lattice 2005 (Heavy quark physics
The heavy quark's self energy from moving NRQCD on the lattice
We present a calculation of the heavy quark's self energy in moving NRQCD to
one-loop in perturbation theory. Results for the energy shift and external
momentum renormalisation are discussed and compared with non-perturbative
results. We show that the momentum renormalisation is small, which is the
result of a remnant of re-parameterisation invariance on the lattice.Comment: Talk given at Lattice2004(heavy), Fermilab, June 21-26, 200
CDS wide slit time-series of EUV coronal bright points
Wide slit (90" x 240" ) movies of four Extreme Ultraviolet coronal bright points (BPs) obtained with the Coronal Diagnostic Spectrometer (CDS) on board the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SoHO) have been inspected. The wavelet analysis of the He I 584.34 Å, O V 629.73 Å and Mg VII/IX 368 Å time-series confirms the oscillating nature of the BPs, with periods ranging between 600 and 1100 s. In one case we detect periods as short as 236 s. We suggest that these oscillations are the same as those seen in the chromospheric network and that a fraction of the network bright points are most likely the cool footpoints of the loops comprising coronal bright points. These oscillations are interpreted in terms of global acoustic modes of the closed magnetic structures associated with BPs
