Applying Machine Learning Algorithms for Face Mask Detections
Goal: Apply multiple machine learning techniques to Face Mask images to detect if a student is wear a Face Mask and/or wearing it incorrectly or not at all. Methodology: Use 2-3 different machine learning techniques to develop this program. Will choose these techniques as I research over the semester. The best technique will be the final one used, but many will be explored. Validation techniques will be used to see which is the best technique. Timeline: Choose Dataset - October 1st, Choose techniques - October 31st, Research techniques/validation - November 31st, Begin writing code - December 13th, Finish code - February 1st, Finish Paper - March 31st. Final Output: Will have a program that can classify an image inputted and a paper explaining methodology and why the best technique is best for this situation. Impact: This is a topic I haven\u27t dealt with before (image classification) that will expand on my knowledge of Machine Learning. I have some experience in ML that I can build on here with research and code writing

Reduction of hydrogen peroxide in gram-negative bacteria – bacterial peroxidases
This work was supported by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) (project grants to SRP, PTDC/BIA-PRO/109796/2009 and PTDC/BIA-BQM/29442/2017, and a scholarship to CSN, SFRH/BD/87878/2012). Unidade de Ciências Biomoleculares Aplicadas-UCIBIO was financed by national funds from FCT/MEC (UID/Multi/04378/2019).Bacteria display an array of enzymes to detoxify reactive oxygen species that cause damage to DNA and to other biomolecules leading to cell death. Hydrogen peroxide is one of these species, with endogenous and exogenous sources, such as lactic acid bacteria, oxidative burst of the immune system or chemical reactions at oxic-anoxic interfaces. The enzymes that detoxify hydrogen peroxide will be the focus of this review, with special emphasis on bacterial peroxidases that reduce hydrogen peroxide to water. Bacterial peroxidases are periplasmic cytochromes with either two or three c-type haems, which have been classified as classical and non-classical bacterial peroxidases, respectively. Most of the studies have been focus on the classical bacterial peroxidases, showing the presence of a reductive activation in the presence of calcium ions. Mutagenesis studies have clarified the catalytic mechanism of this enzyme and were used to propose an intramolecular electron transfer pathway, with far less being known about the intermolecular electron transfer that occurs between reduced electron donors and the enzyme. The physiological function of these enzymes was not very clear until it was shown, for the non-classical bacterial peroxidase, that this enzyme is required for the bacteria to use hydrogen peroxide as terminal electron acceptor under anoxic conditions. These non-classical bacterial peroxidases are quinol peroxidases that do not require reductive activation but need calcium ions to attain maximum activity and share similar catalytic intermediates with the classical bacterial peroxidases.preprintpublishe
The connection between story and performance : Analasys from the view of an artist
This is a study of how music written with or without a story in mind can be performed live to an audience in a way that conveys some sort of message or meaning and thus enhancing the perceived meaning of a piece. The study will work out how music is connected to storytelling and which aspects that make up this craft. It will also look at the effects of storytelling from the perspective of a performer and how it may help to alleviate a musical piece to a new level of perception. To this accompanies a study into how different composers have composed from a story, picture or thing in mind, what elements goes into a composition to make it perceivable, and how a performer can reverse engineer a piece with or without any known story to enhance their performance. The end goal is thus to improve the musical ability of the musician in a live concert format, and to find ways to elevate the experience of the audience
