This article reviews the diagnosis and management of pneumonia in the emergency department and highlights dilemmas in diagnostic testing, use of blood and sputum cultures, hospital admission decisions, infection control, quality measures for pneumonia care, and empiric antimicrobial therapy

    q_T Uncertainties for W and Z Production

Analysis of semi-inclusive DIS hadroproduction suggests broadening of transverse momentum distributions at small x below 1E-3 ~ 1E-2 which can be modeled in the Collins-Soper-Sterman formalism by a modification of impact parameter dependent parton densities. We investigate these consequences for the production of electroweak bosons at the Tevatron and the LHC. If substantial small-x broadening is observed in forward Z boson production in the Tevatron Run-2, it will strongly affect the predicted q_T distributions for W and Z boson production at the LHC.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures; contribution to the XIII International Workshop on Deep Inelastic Scattering (DIS 2005

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common cause of fever in children and contributes to morbidity and mortality. This study aimed at determining prevalence, aetiology and antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of the isolates at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), Dar es Salaam- Tanzania. Demographic data were collected using a pretested questionnaire. 382 febrile children below five years admitted in the general paediatric wards were recruited. Urine specimens were obtained for urinalysis, culture and antimicrobial sensitivity testing. UTI was detected in 16.8% (64/382). Children who presented prolonged duration of fever (7 days or longer) were more likely to have UTI (p< 0.01). Duration of fever, positive leukocyte and nitrite tests were independent predictors of UTI. Isolated bacteria included Escherichia coli (39.1%), Klebsiella spp (31.2%), Staphylococcus epidermidis (6.2%), Staphylococcus aureus (4.7%) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (4.7%). We observed high resistance of the isolated uropathogens to ampicillin (79.9%), co-trimoxazole (89%) and clavulanate-amoxillin (70.3%). Amikacin had the least resistance (12.5%) from the isolated pathogens

This study concludes that the basic legal relationship between credit cardholders with the issuing bank is an agreement that can be classified as a raw deal, because the document containing the clause agreement has been prepared anddetermined in advance by the publisher, in this case the bank, as the lender thataccepts only credit card holders or not against all clauses specified (take it orleave it). In the agreement contained in the rights and obligations for banks andcredit card holders. Liabilities of the bank are entitled to the credit card holders, and conversely the right bank is a liability for credit card holders. The rights andobligations of the parties are constrained by the presence of Act No. 8 of 1999 onConsumer Protection is based on five (5) principles that benefit, justice, equity, security and consumer safety, and legal certainty. The credit card customers law protection can only be realized with theparticipation of the various parties. The credit card customers should be moreproactive to know their rights and also their obligations and for the bankspreferably was open and give more explanation during the hand marker theapplication of credit card. With the existence of the balanced condition both fromthe bank and the customer than the protection will run as expected. Although rightnow the government already gave a new regulation no. 11 of 2003 on Informationand Electronic Transactions, but in fact the role of the Law is felt not efficient. Itwas felt not enough to protect the public and interested parties, still needed morerepresentative formulation that can reach all forms of crime by using a credit car
