Resonance Production in RHIC Collisions
Results of resonance particle production measured at RHIC in 200 GeV Au+Au collisions are compared to measurements in p+p and d+Au
collisions in order to verify the existence of an extended hardronically
interacting medium. Yield and momentum distributions of resonances maybe
modified during the fireball lifetime due to resonance decay and the subsequent
rescattering of their decay daughters as well as the regeneration of resonances
from their decay products. Modified momentum spectra in heavy ion collisions
may change the nuclear modification factor R. The influence on the

Organizational impact of evidence-informed decision making training initiatives : a case study comparison of two approaches
Background
The impact of efforts by healthcare organizations to enhance the use of evidence to improve organizational processes through training programs has seldom been assessed. We therefore endeavored to assess whether and how the training of mid- and senior-level healthcare managers could lead to organizational change.
Methods
We conducted a theory-driven evaluation of the organizational impact of healthcare leaders’ participation in two training programs using a logic model based on Nonaka’s theory of knowledge conversion. We analyzed six case studies nested within the two programs using three embedded units of analysis (individual, group and organization). Interviews were conducted during intensive one-week data collection site visits. A total of 84 people were interviewed.
Results
We found that the impact of training could primarily be felt in trainees’ immediate work environments. The conversion of attitudes was found to be easier to achieve than the conversion of skills. Our results show that, although socialization and externalization were common in all cases, a lack of combination impeded the conversion of skills. We also identified several individual, organizational and program design factors that facilitated and/or impeded the dissemination of the attitudes and skills gained by trainees to other organizational members.
Conclusions
Our theory-driven evaluation showed that factors before, during and after training can influence the extent of skills and knowledge transfer. Our evaluation went further than previous research by revealing the influence—both positive and negative—of specific organizational factors on extending the impact of training programs
Radiative and Collisional Jet Energy Loss in a Quark-Gluon Plasma
We calculate radiative and collisional energy loss of hard partons traversing
the quark-gluon plasma created at RHIC and compare the respective size of these
contributions. We employ the AMY formalism for radiative energy loss and
include additionally energy loss by elastic collisions. Our treatment of both
processes is complete at leading order in the coupling, and accounts for the
probabilistic nature of jet energy loss. We find that a solution of the
Fokker-Planck equation for the probability density distributions of partons is
necessary for a complete calculation of the nuclear modification factor
for pion production in heavy ion collisions. It is found that the
magnitude of is sensitive to the inclusion of both collisional and
radiative energy loss, while the average energy is less affected by the
addition of collisional contributions. We present a calculation of for
at RHIC, combining our energy loss formalism with a relativistic

Energy Conservation and Gravity Waves in Sound-proof Treatments of Stellar Interiors: Part I Anelastic Approximations
Typical flows in stellar interiors are much slower than the speed of sound.
To follow the slow evolution of subsonic motions, various sound-proof equations
are in wide use, particularly in stellar astrophysical fluid dynamics. These
low-Mach number equations include the anelastic equations. Generally, these
equations are valid in nearly adiabatically stratified regions like stellar
convection zones, but may not be valid in the sub-adiabatic, stably stratified
stellar radiative interiors. Understanding the coupling between the convection
zone and the radiative interior is a problem of crucial interest and may have
strong implications for solar and stellar dynamo theories as the interface
between the two, called the tachocline in the Sun, plays a crucial role in many
solar dynamo theories. Here we study the properties of gravity waves in
stably-stratified atmospheres. In particular, we explore how gravity waves are
handled in various sound-proof equations. We find that some anelastic
treatments fail to conserve energy in stably-stratified atmospheres, instead
conserving pseudo-energies that depend on the stratification, and we
demonstrate this numerically. One anelastic equation set does conserve energy
in all atmospheres and we provide recommendations for converting low-Mach

Perceptions of knowledge sharing among small family firm leaders: a structural equation model
Small family firms have many unique relational qualities with implications for how knowledge is passed between individuals. Extant literature posits leadership approach as important in explaining differences in knowledge-sharing climate from one firm to another. This study investigates how leadership approaches interact with family influence to inform perceptions of knowledge sharing. We utilize survey data (n = 110) from owner-managers of knowledge-intensive small family firms in Scotland. Our findings present a choice in leadership intention, contrasting organization-focused participation against family-influenced guidance. Insight is offered on the implications of this leadership choice at both organizational and familial level
White Lines and 3d-Occupancy for the 3d Transition-Metal Oxides
Electron energy-loss spectrometry was employed to measure the white lines at
the L23 absorption edges of the 3d transition-metal oxides and lithium
transition-metal oxides. The white-line ratio (L3/L2) was found to increase
between d^0 and d^5 and decrease between d^5 and d^10, consistent with previous
results for the transition metals and their oxides. The intensities of the
white lines, normalized to the post-edge background, are linear for the 3d
transition-metal oxides and lithium transition-metal oxides. An empirical
correlation between normalized white-line intensity and 3d occupancy is
established. It provides a method for measuring changes in the 3d-state
occupancy. As an example, this empirical relationship is used to measure
changes in the transition-metal valences of Li_{1-x}Ni_{0.8}Co_{0.2}O_2 in the
range of 0 < x < 0.64. In these experiments the 3d occupancy of the nickel ion
decreased upon lithium deintercalation, while the cobalt valence remained

Radiative and Collisional Energy Loss, and Photon-Tagged Jets at RHIC
The suppression of single jets at high transverse momenta in a quark-gluon
plasma is studied at RHIC energies, and the additional information provided by
a photon tag is included. The energy loss of hard jets traversing through the
medium is evaluated in the AMY formalism, by consistently taking into account
the contributions from radiative events and from elastic collisions at leading
order in the coupling. The strongly-interacting medium in these collisions is
modelled with (3+1)-dimensional ideal relativistic hydrodynamics. Putting these
ingredients together with a complete set of photon-production processes, we
present a calculation of the nuclear modification of single jets and
