PID Controller Design for Two Tanks Liquid Level Control System Using Matlab
The industrial application of Coupled Tank System (CTS) is widely used especially in chemical process industries. The control of liquid level in tanks and flow between tanks is a problem in the process technologies. The process technologies require liquids to be pumped, stored in tanks, and then pumped to another tank systematically. This paper presents development of Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller for controlling the desired liquid level of the CTS. Various conventional techniques of PID tuning method will be tested in order to obtain the PID controller parameters. Simulation is conducted within MATLAB environment to verify the performances of the system in terms of Rise Time (Ts), Settling Time (Ts), Steady State Error (SSE) and Overshoot (OS). The trial and error method of tunning will be implemented and all the performance results will be analyzed using MATLAB. It has been demonstrated that performances of CTS can be improved with appropriate technique of PID tuning methods

Character marking in children's narratives
In the speech - language pathology research and clinical work, narration is one of the measures of pragmatic abilities. The starting point of this thesis is the analysis on the microstructural level, which was used to determine what the types of words used by children for character reference in narration say about their pragmatic abilities. For this purpose, the words that children use to introduce characters to the narrative and establish anaphoric reference were observed in comparison with the words used by adults. The research involved three groups of subjects: preschool-age children (5;04-6;05 years old), early school-age children (6;06-7;06 years old) and adult speakers as the control group. The storytelling method selected for the purposes of the research is based on the pictorial material from the Croatian version of MAIN: Multilingual Assessment Instrument for Narratives. What was observed is the way in which subjects refer to the five characters in the story Goats. In order to compare the three groups of subjects, a nonparametric statistical analysis was conducted. Statistically significant differences between the two groups of children and the group of adults were found in all of the tested variables: the introduction of the characters to the narrative, the reintroduction of the characters and their maintenance in the narrative, as well as the number of ambiguous character references. The data also indicate that there is a development path in mastering how to refer to characters in an unambiguous way. A statistically significant difference between the three groups of subjects was found in the number of ambiguous character references. This is a clear indication that the children have not reached the same level of pragmatic abilities and sensitivity to the interlocutor’s perspective as adult speakers. Younger children demonstrated a lower success rate in the unambiguous character reference than older children. It is interesting to note that in a small number of cases adult subjects also made mistakes. This can be explained by the complexity of the story chosen for narrative elicitation
Vitamin D3-loaded electrospun cellulose acetate/polycaprolactone nanofibers: Characterization, in-vitro drug release and cytotoxicity studies
Vitamin D deficiency is nowa global health problem; despite several drug delivery systems for carrying vitaminD
due to low bioavailability and loss bioactivity. Developing a new drug delivery system to deliver vitamin D3 is a
strong incentive in the current study. Hence, an implantable drug delivery system (IDDS) was developed from
the electrospun cellulose acetate (CA) and ε-polycaprolactone (PCL) nanofibrous membrane, in which the core
of implants consists of vitamin D3-loaded CA nanofiber (CAVD) and enclosed in a thin layer of the PCL membrane
(CAVD/PCL). CA nanofibrousmat loadedwith vitaminD3 at the concentrations of 6, 12, and 20% (w/w) of vitamin
D3 were produced using electrospinning. The smooth and bead-free fibers with diameters ranged from 324 to
428 nm were obtained. The fiber diameters increased with an increase in vitamin D3 content. The controlled
drug release profile was observed over 30-days, which fit with the zero-order model (R2 > 0.96) in the first
stage. The mechanical properties of IDDS were improved. Young's modulus and tensile strength of CAVD/PCL
(dry) were161 ± 14 and 13.07 ± 2.5 MPa, respectively. CA and PCL nanofibers are non-cytotoxic based on the
results of the in-vitro cytotoxicity studies. This study can further broaden in-vivo study and provide a reference
for developing a new IDDS to carry vitamin D3 in the future

Preanalytics of urine sediment examination: effect of relative centrifugal force, tube type, volume of sample and supernatant removal
Introduction: Laboratories often modify procedures recommended by the European Urinalysis Guidelines for urine sediment analysis. The aim of
this study was to compare the recommended protocol with our routine laboratory procedure and to evaluate the possible impact of modifications in
the relative centrifugal force, type of tube, method of supernatant aspiration and urine volume on patient’s results.
Material and methods: Firstly, relative centrifugal force was investigated using 20 pairs of samples examined after centrifugation at 400xg and
1358xg. In phase two, 110 samples were examined, paired as: round bottom vs conical tube (N = 46), decanting vs suction of supernatant (N = 100)
and 10 mL vs 5 mL of urine sample (N = 101).
Results: The number of erythrocytes, leukocytes and squamous epithelial cells was significantly lower after centrifugation at 400xg (P = 0.001,
0.002 and 0.004, respectively). The number of leukocytes was significantly lower in conical tubes (P = 0.010), after the suction of supernatant (P =
0.045) and in 5 mL urine (P < 0.001). The number of squamous epithelial cells was significantly lower after the suction of supernatant (P < 0.001)
and in 5 mL urine (P < 0.001). The number of erythrocytes (P < 0.001), total non-hyaline casts (P < 0.001) and the frequency of granular casts (P =
0.039) was significantly lower in 5 mL urine.
Conclusion: Lower results of leukocytes, erythrocytes, squamous cells and non-hyaline casts were recorded in recommended procedures (centrifugation
at 400xg, suction of supernatant, conical tube, 5 mL of sample) than in routine procedure (centrifugation at 1358xg, decanting of supernatant,
round bottom tube, 10 mL) used in our laboratory
