Prediction of global ionospheric TEC using attention based bidirectional long short-term memory and gated recurrent unit

An accurate prediction of ionospheric total electron content (TEC) at the primary stage is essential for applications related to global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) under varying weather conditions. The previous TEC prediction schemes contribute for each time step that increases the prediction time. The eye contact phenomenon establishes a metaphorical connection which intends to capture and emphasize the attention worthy elements in a sequence. This research introduces a deep learning approach which is a combination of attention-based bidirectional long short-term memory and gated recurrent unit (Bi-LSTM GRU) to predict TEC in the ionosphere. Bidirectional LSTM is the better option for achieving durability when combined with a gated recurrent unit (GRU) to predict TEC in the ionosphere. The proposed approach is evaluated with the existing LSTM approach for root mean square error (RMSE) during training and validation. The RMSE while predicting the global ionospheric delay using the existing LSTM for 20 epochs is seen to be 0.004, whereas the existing approach achieves a training error of 0.003

Systematic Mapping Study of Information Technology for Development in Agriculture (The Case of Developing Countries)

    Get PDF
With its rapid proliferation in the developing world, information and communication technology (ICT) has been accepted as an opportunity to assist disadvantaged people. Many projects have piloted ICT supporting rural communities in developing countries. Such rural communities are socially complex and infrastructurally weak environments that demand clear understanding of the social, economical, cultural and political preconditions when implementing ICT innovations. To provide a comprehensive overview of what kinds of ICT intervention and research contributions have been achieved, a systematic mapping study (SMS) was carried out. This work presents the state-of-the-art based on related journal and conference papers published between 2006-2014. The review indicates that ICT supporting farmers has gained attention over the past few years with a growing number of contributions. However, the field is still in a consolidating phase. Theoretical concepts are sparse, so it is difficult to generalize and transfer the findings. Specifically, there is limited research in IT design and development process; user-interface design for illiterate people; and user and community involvement in the design process

Ltd. (eKutir.net) -a grass-roots sustainable rural development oriented enterprise, promoted by senior socially committed individuals drawn from the rural banking, finance, agriculture and IT backgrounds, along with The Grameen-Intel Social Business., are currently embarked on creating and mentoring a very scalable and replicable social entrepreneur network enabled, ICT assisted agriculture services business in Orissa. This Agro services social business targets the socio-economic upliftment of the small/marginal farmer (land holdings of < 3 acres) through fulfillment of their various agriculture related knowledge and transactional needs

Satellite Cluster Close Approaches Determination for Collision Avoidance

As the number of space objects in orbit about the Earth increases, it is extremely important to determine the close approaches between them. In this paper the close approaches is determined for the satellite cluster using a simulation tool STK for the following (i) satellites of interest within a cluster (ii) a satellites of interest in a cluster and the space objects as listed in the space catalog and the close approach reports are analyzed. The results have indicated that the details of intruder satellites and the duration of close approaches and their minimum separation distances or the relative distances.</jats:p
