The Universal Cardinal Ordering of Fixed Points

We present the theorem which determines, by a permutation, the cardinal ordering of fixed points for any orbit of a period doubling cascade. The inverse permutation generates the orbit and the symbolic sequence of the orbit is obtained as a corollary. The problem present in the symbolic sequences is solved. There, repeated symbols appear, for example, the R (right), which cannot be distinguished among them as it is not known which R is the rightmost of them all. Therefore, there is a lack of information about the dynamical system. Interestingly enough, it is important to point that this theorem needs no previous information about any other orbit.Comment: 19 pages, 4 figure

Thresholds of Invisibility: A Perspective on Moments of Transition in Scholarly Rhetorics

This dissertation suggests that certain historical moments of transition generate identifiable schisms in scholarly discourse that leave contemporary scholars unable to communicate with one another. At these moments of Augustinian unlikeness, established scholarly commitments, such as logocentrism, are rendered invisible to the critics that rely on them as new forms and technologies become the (ostensible) talking points of discourse. The confusion at these moments contribute to a complex of discursive practices that can be called thresholds of invisibility, or moments of transition and division, when scholars are captivated by new forms and less attentive to the continuing influence of already established terministic screens. In the process, however, these normally submerged screens rise to the terministic surface, allowing for in-depth rhetorical analysis. This dissertation proposes the threshold of invisibility as a concept for identifying moments of contentious and sometimes confused critical discourse where the underpinnings of scholarly rhetorics are laid bare for rhetorical analysis. In this dissertation, the threshold of invisibility concept is used to explore a number of critical tools in established rhetorical theory, and then apply them to several case studies of critical discourse on new technologies and issues, including debates on digital photography, video games, and digital composing in college classrooms. The threshold of invisibility concept is a means to practice what Kenneth Burke calls a “criticism of criticism,” an effort to explore the ideologies and methods of meaning-making that underpin scholarly rhetorics

    Fractional Generalization of Gradient Systems

We consider a fractional generalization of gradient systems. We use differential forms and exterior derivatives of fractional orders. Examples of fractional gradient systems are considered. We describe the stationary states of these systems.Comment: 11 pages, LaTe

Composition law of cardinal order permutations

In this paper the theorems that determine composition laws for both cardinal ordering permutations and their inverses are proven. So, the relative positions of points in a hs-periodic orbit become completely known as well as in which order those points are visited. No matter how a hs-periodic orbit emerges, be it through a period doubling cascade (s=2^n) of the h-periodic orbit, or as a primary window (like the saddle-node bifurcation cascade with h=2^n), or as a secondary window (the birth of a ss-periodic window inside the h-periodic one). Certainly, period doubling cascade orbits are particular cases with h=2 and s=2^n. Both composition laws are also shown in algorithmic way for their easy use

Coherent States of the SU(N) groups

Coherent states (CS)(CS) of the SU(N)SU(N) groups are constructed explicitly and their properties are investigated. They represent a nontrivial generalization of the spining CSCS of the SU(2)SU(2) group. The CSCS are parametrized by the points of the coset space, which is, in that particular case, the projective space CPN1CP^{N-1} and plays the role of the phase space of a corresponding classical mechanics. The CSCS possess of a minimum uncertainty, they minimize an invariant dispersion of the quadratic Casimir operator. The classical limit is ivestigated in terms of symbols of operators. The role of the Planck constant playes h=P1h=P^{-1}, where PP is the signature of the representation. The classical limit of the so called star commutator generates the Poisson bracket in the CPN1CP^{N-1} phase space. The logarithm of the modulus of the CSCS overlapping, being interpreted as a symmetric in the space, gives the Fubini-Study metric in CPN1CP^{N-1}. The CSCS constructed are useful for the quasi-classical analysis of the quantum equations of the SU(N)SU(N) gauge symmetric theories.Comment: 19pg, IFUSP/P-974 March/199

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and parliamentary responsibility.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation has been and continues to be a strong objector to repeated Government investigation. Mr. Ouimet, President of the Corporation, has often complained that he is required to spend too much time defending the C.B.C., leaving little time for managing and directing the affairs of the organization. On the other hand, there has been considerable pressure on the part of some members of Parliament to hold the public corporation even more accountable than has been the practice to date. The problem of responsibility has been complicated because of the failure of Parliament to clearly set down for itself what its relationship should be towards the C.B.C. Parliament has accepted the principle of a national broadcasting system, but has been unable to effect a means of control consistent with its responsibilities. Parliament has proven unable to distinguish between accountability and responsibility in its dealings with the C.B.C., and has failed as well to establish any criterion by which to bring about a more workable accountability. Parliament urgently requires a precise clarification of its relationship to Canadian broadcasting, especially of the nature and extent of its responsibility. There can be no question as to Parliament's being ultimately accountable and responsible for broadcasting, although there is sufficient evidence to suspect that Parliament has failed to comprehend its responsibilities as the ultimate political authority in charge of broadcasting

Objective: to identify the impact that knowledge of population's health reality has on students of Medicine course during the curricular internship in Primary Health Care. Methods: this is a consecutive cross-sectional study, carried out through the application of a voluntary questionnaire with closed questions, before and after the internship in Primary Health Care in 10 cities in the central-west region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Results: in both stages, most students were female. The answers to the questionnaires showed that, post activity, there was a significant improvement in the perception, on part of the interns, that the conducts used were consistent with the health reality of the assisted population. Regarding the evolution of a preventive attitude on part of the student, there was an impact on activities related to the prevention of diseases during the medical consultation. Final Considerations: after completing the internship in PHC, there is a significant improvement in the student's perception that there was a greater consistency between the medical conducts taken by them and the real health needs of the assisted population. A positive and substantial change was also observed, both in guidelines on preventive attitudes during medical consultations, especially aimed at controlling Noncommunicable Diseases, and in general orientations given to their patients. Thus, it can be considered that carrying out curricular internship activities in PHC is an important component in the final training of undergraduate medical students.
