    Get PDF
In this work, author presents potential benefits resulting from Poland’s accession to euro area, which was committed to by concluding the accession treaty to the European Union. The most important benefits include price stability, elimination exchange rate risk, reduction of transaction costs for companies trading with foreign countries. Achieving those benefits will be possible if long-term criteria of nominal convergence are met and real convergence is achieved.W niniejszej pracy autor prezentuje potencjalne korzyści, wynikające ze wstąpienia Polski do strefy euro, do czego zobowiązała się zawierając traktat akcesyjny do Unii Europejskiej. Do najważniejszych korzyści zaliczyć można stabilność poziomu cen, zwiększenie wolumenu wymiany handlowej, eliminacja ryzyka kursowego, zmniejszenie kosztów transakcyjnych dla podmiotów prowadzących wymianę z zagranicą. Osiągnięcie wymienionych korzyści będzie możliwe przy spełnieniu w długim okresie kryteriów konwergencji nominalnej, jak i osiągnięciu konwergencji realnej

Disorders in the structure of blood vessels walls result in developing pathological lesions called hemangiomas. The case describes a 16-year-old male patient with Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS) who was treated surgically due to hemangioma of upper jaw. The patient suffered from typical for Sturge-Weber syndrome congenital disorders of other organs. In these cases surgical treatment requires deep analysis and proper procedure planning in the context of hemostasis. Key words: Sturge-Weber syndrome, hemangioma, cavernous hemangioma, surgery, general anesthesi

Augmentation of alveolar part of mandible with CGF (concentrated growth factors) after multiple extractions – a case report

Concentrated growth factors are one of platelet-rich plasma preparations (PPP), specially prepared in medical centrifuges. Due to high concentration of blood platelets, which reveal different sorts of growth factors, CGF stimulates wound healing, reduces post-operative complications, such as pain and swelling. The article presents a case of a 21-year-old-patient who underwent the augmentation of alveolar part of mandible with CGF after extractions of teeth 36, 37 and 38. The post-operative period, with follow-ups after one week and one-month post surgery, showed positive influence of applied plasma preparatio

Usage of platelet concentrate is an interesting clinical option for enhancement of healing tissue. One of them – Concentrated Growth Factors (CGF) is produced by processing blood samples with a special centrifuge device. It is proven that this material contains high concentration of growth factors and CD34+ cells which have anti-inflammatory properties and ability to stimulate proliferation and differentiation of connective tissue cells and angiogenesis. The following article presents a case of 70-year-old-patient who underwent the augmentation of the post-operative bone defect with CGF after removal of necrotic alveolar part of the mandible

W artykule opisano przypadek 9-letniej pacjentki poddanej zabiegowi usunięcia zębiaka zestawnego lewej szczęki w odcinku przednim. U pacjentki obserwowano typowe dla guzów zębodpochodnych u dzieci przetrwanie zębów mlecznych, będące wynikiem braku możliwości erupcji zębów stałych, blokowanych przez masę guza. Wszelkie zmiany patologiczne jamy ustnej u dzieci wymagają wnikliwej analizy i właściwego postępowania chirurgicznego. Słowa kluczowe: zmiany nowotworopodobne, zębiak, zębiak zestawny, chirurgia, ząb zatrzymany, przetrwały ząb mleczny, znieczulenie ogólne Abstract Odontogenic tumor-like lesions are the one of the most commonly presented in jawbones. In the article described 9-year-old patient case who had been treated surgically due to compound odontoma of the left maxilla in the anterior segment. In the patient observed typical for odontogenic tumors in children persisted deciduous teeth. It results from the lack of the eruptive force of permanent teeth, blocked by the mass of the tumor. Any pathological lesions of the oral cavity in children require deep analysis and proper surgical proceeding. Key words: tumor-like lesions, odontoma, compound odontoma, surgery, impacted tooth, persisted deciduous tooth, general anesthesi

Extraction of totally impacted lower third molar with CGF (concentrated growth factors) application into a post-extraction bone defect – a case report

Concentrated Growth Factors (CGF) are obtained after blood collecting and its centrifuging. As an autogenic material it gains an advantage over xenogeneic materials used in regenerative procedures. Due to high concentration of growth factors and CD34+ cells in such a small volume, CGF promotes tissue regeneration. The following the article presents a case of 32-year-old-patient who underwent the augmentation of the post-extraction bone defect with CGF after the extraction of totally impacted lower third molar. Reduction of post-operative complications was observed

Identification of human nephron progenitors capable of generation of kidney structures and functional repair of chronic renal disease

Identification of tissue-specific renal stem/progenitor cells with nephrogenic potential is a critical step in developing cell-based therapies for renal disease. In the human kidney, stem/progenitor cells are induced into the nephrogenic pathway to form nephrons until the 34 week of gestation, and no equivalent cell types can be traced in the adult kidney. Human nephron progenitor cells (hNPCs) have yet to be isolated. Here we show that growth of human foetal kidneys in serum-free defined conditions and prospective isolation of NCAM1(+) cells selects for nephron lineage that includes the SIX2-positive cap mesenchyme cells identifying a mitotically active population with in vitro clonogenic and stem/progenitor properties. After transplantation in the chick embryo, these cells—but not differentiated counterparts—efficiently formed various nephron tubule types. hNPCs engrafted and integrated in diseased murine kidneys and treatment of renal failure in the 5/6 nephrectomy kidney injury model had beneficial effects on renal function halting disease progression. These findings constitute the first definition of an intrinsic nephron precursor population, with major potential for cell-based therapeutic strategies and modelling of kidney disease
