Lorentz symmetry breaking in the noncommutative Wess-Zumino model: One loop corrections
In this paper we deal with the issue of Lorentz symmetry breaking in quantum
field theories formulated in a non-commutative space-time. We show that, unlike
in some recente analysis of quantum gravity effects, supersymmetry does not
protect the theory from the large Lorentz violating effects arising from the
loop corrections. We take advantage of the non-commutative Wess-Zumino model to

Steroid estrogen determination in sediment and sewage sludge: A critique of chromatographic / mass spectrometry methods incorporating a case study in method development
Current analytical methods for determining steroids in sewage sludge and sediment are reviewed and experimental data comparing LC/MS ESI and GC/MS quantification of extracts from these matrices is presented. The effect of matrix influence on method analysis and steroid recoveries was investigated and a comparison of GC and LC determination with mass spectrometry performed. Consequently upon this, an environmental analytically robust methodology is presented and using this technique analysis of sediments determined E1 to be the main steroid (<18 ng/g), EE2 and E3 were determined at far lower concentrations with minimal detection of E
Highly interactive kink solutions
In this work we present a new class of real scalar field models admitting
strongly interactive kink solutions. Instead of the usual exponential
asymptotic behavior these topological solutions exhibit a power-law one. We
investigate the interaction force between a pair of kink/anti-kink solutions
both analytically and numerically, by integrating the time dependent field
equations of the model. Furthermore, working within the first-order framework,
we analyze the linear stability of these solutions. The stability analysis
leads to Sch\"odinger-like equations with potentials which, despite admitting
no bound states, lead to strong resonance peaks. We argue that these properties
are important for some possible physical applications.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure

Ileocecal appendix involvement in fabry disease mimicking an acute abdomen
Anderson-Fabry disease (AFD) is a rare, X-linked, lysosomal storage disorder due to a deficiency of alphagalactosidase A. The direct consequence is a lipid storage with the accumulation of glycosphingolipids throughout the body. The clinical picture is highly variable and depends on cellular storage deposition ranging from neurological, cutaneous and renal symptoms to cardiac and gastrointestinal ones. We are reporting about the case of a young female carrier of alpha-galactosidase A (agalA) gene mutation who was treated at our out-clinic practice for minimal neurological involvement (achroparaestesia). She was subsequently admitted in order to undergo appendectomy because of an acute severe abdominal pain. The histological examination of her appendix revealed only a deposition of globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) without any sign of acute inflammation.
