Alfred Graefe (1830-1899) - erster Ordinarius für Augenheilkunde in Halle (Saale) - ein Rückblick auf Leben und Werk

Seit dem 9. April 1873 existiert an der Universität Halle (Saale) ein eigenständiges Ordinariat für Augenheilkunde. Auch aus medizinhistorischer Sicht ein sehr bedeutender Aspekt, zeigt er doch u.a., auf welch langes Bestehen das Ordinariat mittlerweile zurückblicken kann und wie beständig die Verbindung zwischen der Ophthalmologie und der halleschen Universität ist. In diesem Zusammenhang kommt Alfred Graefe eine tiefgreifendere Bedeutung zu, denn sein Name ist eng mit der Geschichte der Ophthalmologie, insbesondere der halleschen, verbunden. So war er der erste Inhaber des Ordinariats und nahm in dieser Position einen wichtigen Anteil an der Etablierung der Augenheilkunde, womit der Grundstein für ihre Entwicklung zu einem eigenständigen, gleichberechtigten medizinischen Fachgebiet, wie sie es heutzutage darstellt, gelegt worden war. Die Dissertation umfasst einerseits das Leben Alfred Graefes, angefangen von seiner Kindheit und Schulzeit über die Zeit seines Studiums und der Ausbildung zum Ophthalmologen bis hin zu seiner Tätigkeit als Augenarzt, und andererseits sein Werk, d.h. seine Arbeit als Wissenschaftler bzw. das, was einen großen Teil seines Lebenswerkes ausmacht. Darüber hinaus finden zahlreiche weitere Aspekte Berücksichtigung, beispielsweise wie sich Graefes persönliches Umfeld gestaltete, welche Menschen in seinem Leben von Bedeutung waren bzw. welche Menschen seinen Werdegang entscheidend beeinflusst haben, letztlich nicht zu vergessen die Zeit, in der er tätig war, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Stellung der Augenheilkunde, um auf diese Weise ein möglichst geschlossenes Bild von der Persönlichkeit Alfred Graefes zu erhalten.Since April 9th, 1873 an independent Ordinariat for Ophthalmology exists at the University of Halle (Saale). Also from medicine-historical view a very important aspect, as it shows, among other things, on what a long existence the Ordinariat can look back meanwhile and how resistant the connection is between the ophthalmology and the University of Halle. In this regard Alfred Graefe is of profound significance because his name is closely linked with the history of ophthalmology, especially the one of Halle. He was the first owner of the Ordinariat and took in this position an important contribution to the establishment of the ophthalmology with which the foundation stone had been laid for its development into an independent, equal medical field as it appears nowadays. The thesis encloses on the one hand the life of Alfred Graefe, starting from his childhood and school years over the time of his study and the education as an ophthalmologist up to his activity as an ophthalmologist, and on the other hand his work, i.e. his work as a scientist and what makes up a large part of his life's work. In addition, numerous other aspects find consideration, for example how Graefe's personal sphere designed, which people mattered in his life or which people have decisively influenced his development, ultimately not to forget the time in which he acted, especially in view of the position of the ophthalmology, to obtain in this way a possibly closed picture of the personality of Alfred Graefe.von Cindy Grafi

We have several news reports from various regions of the country about the obligations of guild members related to religious life. Among the guild insignia, the various guild flags, which were the most sacred insignia of the guilds and often depict patron saints, represent a value that can be highlighted due to their multiple religious aspects. The obligation of the guilds to make flags in the XVIII. from the middle of the century, almost all letters of privilege required it. For the most part, guild flags were not among the pinnacle of artistic creations. Religious images, signs, and symbols can also be found on other guild objects, such as: candle holders, guild seals, guild chests, lodging badges, and written guild documents. A céhjelvények köréből többes vallási vonatkozásukkal kiemelhető értéket képviselnek a változatos céhzászlók, melyek a céhek legszentebb jelvényei voltak, s amelyeken gyakori a védőszentek ábrázolása. A céhek zászlókészítési kötelezettségét a XVIII. század közepétől szinte minden kiváltságlevél előírta. A céhzászlók többnyire nem tartoztak a művészi alkotások csúcsteljesítményei közé. Vallásos képek, jelek, szimbólumok más céhes tárgyakon is találhatók, úgymint: gyertyatartók, céhpecsétek, céhládák, szállásjelvények, céhiratok. Ezekre hoz példákat a tanulmány.
