Formaciones fungiformes del medio vadoso en la sima de los Portales

[spa] El presente trabajo trata sobre la descripción y el posible origen de un grupo de formaciones fungiformes halladas en la Sima de los Portales, ubicada en los cerros calizos de Maniabón que se alzan al norte de la región oriental de Cuba. Esta sima, típicamente vadosa, no posee ningún indicio de haber contenido lagos freáticos en su interior y, por lo tanto, los espeleotemas están relacionados con lagos de aguas de acumulación que existieron durante los óptimos climáticos interglaciales. En estas etapas la pluviosidad en toda el área de las Antillas fue mucho más intensa que en la actualidad, lo que trajo como consecuencia que se formaran, durante un largo periodo de tiempo, lagos vadosos en la zona de aireación del karst. Estos espeleotemas representan un nuevo tipo, atendiendo a su génesis, pues las formaciones fungiformes siempre se habían asociado con los lagos freáticos litorales y, que ten- gamos constancia, nunca se habían relacionado con el medio vadoso hipogeo.[eng] In this present paper we describe and offer a possible explanation of the origins of mushroom-like speleothems found in the pothole Sima de los Portales which is situated in "cerros calizos", residual limestone hills or hums, that lie in the northern part of the Región de Maniabón in eastern Cuba. This typical vadose pothole shows no evidence of having ever had phreatic lakes and therefore these speleothems, which are now 170 meters above sea level, are associated with accumulated-water lakes. These lakes formed during more humid and warmer interglacial periods during the Upper Pleistocene when the rainfall in the Caribbean was far more in- tense than it now is and this led to the formation and the long existence of these vadose lakes in the aeration zone of the karst. These speleothems respresent a new type with regard to their genesis as they have always been associated with phreatic littoral lakes and never with vadose zone lakes

Características espeleológicas del karst de la región de Gibara

[spa] La región de Gibara, una de las más interesantes del país, no tenía hasta el presente un estudio que ofreciera una visión general de las características de las cavernas que posee. Sólo se habían realizado trabajos puntuales en las distintas cuevas y simas conocidas, los cuales no ofrecían datos acerca del karst en conjunto de la zona. Para realizar este trabajo los autores tuvieron en cuenta toda la información de los distintos grupos espeleológicos e investigadores que han estudiado, de una forma u otra, la región. Posteriormente se analizó toda la información que sobre las cavernas se poseía, la cual fue procesada en valores porcentuales para poder brindar, de una manera más explícita, un panorama de las características espeleológicas de esta interesante región del oriente cubano.[eng] The Región de Gibara, one of Cuba's most interesting, has not been previously studied with the aim of producing an overall view of its karst and caves; only specific studies have been carried out on its known caves and potholes, and these do not give us a general view of this region's karst. In order to carry out this task, the authors have taken into account the work produced by different speleological groups and investigators who have studied, in one way or another, this region. The collected data was then analysed and represented in percentages to afford a more informative way of viewing the speleological characteristics of this eastern Cuban region

Design of global chain for wind turbines production

PFC presentat a Copenhagen University College of EngineeringTreball desenvolupat dins el marc del programa 'European Project Semester'.This project discusses perspectives for design global supply chain for wind turbine production aiming to a future political system supporting this development. We have to install wind farms in 6 countries (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England and Finland). The project is based on a fictive case where a major Danish energy conglomerate has decided on a new strategy to become the largest producer of clean energy in northern Europe. The fictive company is Dan Energy and is the leading Danish energy conglomerate. Nowadays, it focused on energies fossils like fuel and coal power station. For the future, the conglomerate wants to develop wind turbines power and its target is to become the largest producer of wind power in Northern Europe until 2014. In particular, it suggests answers to the following questions: · How should the production be divided? Are we going to produce in house or out house some parts of the wind turbine or we are going to produce some parts ourselves? · Which governance system is the most suitable for our business situation? · Where in the world should the factories be located for the best cost without good quality? · What are being our suppliers and where are they? The educational convergence project driven by the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) has created new teaching methods and evaluation processes in university education systems. This new pedagogical approach generates an unquestionable opportunity for different segments of the university community see ICTs as an essential tool of the procedure of educational content development, which facilitate the teaching-learning process. This article presents the TurningPoint tool, which focuses on promoting teacher-student interactions, facilitating participation and ongoing assessment. This tool has advantages over other existing applications because of its variety of utilities and potential use. Moreover, it has been successfully used in several programs promoted by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia
