Diagenesis of Paleogene sandstones and its response to tectonics in Kuqa Foreland Basin, western China

    No full text

We used the textures and chemical composition of authigenic cements in Paleogene sandstones from DN2 Gas Field of Kuqa Foreland Basin (KFB) and evidence of associated fluids from fluid inclusions and formation water measurements to infer timing of fluid migration and discuss link between fluids and tectonics. Eodiagenesis occurred with the participation of meteoric waters and connate waters. Mesodiagenesis operated in the context of high salinity fluids, which were interpreted to originate from overlying Neogene evaporite. Halite, anhydrite, glauberite, carnallite and thenardite are major minerals for the evaporite. Homogenization temperatures measured in this study and K-Ar dating performed on authigenetic illites by previous study indicate that initial migration of high salinity fluid occurred during the late Miocene (12.4–9.2 Ma). The period is consistent with the crucial phase (13–10 Ma) witnessing the rapid development of southern Tianshan and the stage when calcite and anhydrite veins formed in the studied strata. These results suggest that diagenesis related to high salinity fluids probably occurred as a response to Tianshan’s rapid uplift and related tectonic processes. The flow of high salinity fluids was probably driven by density gradient and channeled and focused by fractures formed contemporaneously.
</jats:p

Thermo-Elastohydrodynamic Study on Textured Journal Bearing with High-Speed and High-Specific-Pressure

    No full text
The performance of supporting journal bearing of the star gear transmission system in the geared turbo fan engine (GTF) is analyzed. A thermal-elastohydrodynamic analysis model was developed for textured journal bearing used in high-speed and high-specific-pressure conditions. The Navier-Stokes equation, energy equation, and viscosity-temperature equation were calculated by the computational fluid dynamics method. The influence of elastic deformation on bearing thermal hydrodynamic performance was studied in detail. The results indicate that the elastic deformation has an influence on the distribution of oil temperature and oil pressure. Besides, a comparative thermo-elastohydrodynamic analysis was conducted between the textured bearing and the un-textured bearing, and the discrepancies of maximum oil pressure, load carrying capacity and the maximum oil temperature are few. However, the textured bearing has a lower elastic deformation than the un-textured bearing.</jats:p

Effects of thermal and elastic deformations on lubricating properties of the textured journal bearing

Hydrodynamic journal bearing is an important part of rotary machine and faces many challenges such as high rotating speed, heavy specific pressure, and large temperature rise with the development of industry. These challenges lead to notable thermal and elastic deformations of the journal bearing. Surface texture has been proved to be a valid method to promote bearing lubricating properties. However, effects of thermal and elastic deformations on lubricating properties of the textured journal bearing have not been clearly analyzed. Based on this, the article presents a method to transform thermal–structural–fluid interaction into thermal–structural interaction and thermal–fluid interaction based on textured journal bearing model. Cavitation and temperature-viscosity effects are also considered. Based on this method, action mechanisms of surface texture on lubricating properties are discussed considering elastic and thermal deformations, and effects of elastic and thermal deformations on the textured journal bearing are also investigated. The results show that the load carrying capacity and the maximum oil film pressure of the textured journal bearing both increase when elastic and thermal deformations are considered. Optimal texture parameters can enhance the backflow effect in dimples and restraint cavitation phenomenon in the oil film rupture region. Meanwhile, inertial and cavitation effects caused by surface texture have significant effects on elastic and thermal deformations of the journal bearing. </jats:p

Influence of Geometric Error of Rollers on Rotational Accuracy of Cylindrical Roller Bearings

    No full text
As the rotation of roller bearings is carried out under geometrical constraint of the inner ring, outer ring and multiple rollers, the motion error of the bearing should also be resulted from geometric errors of bearing parts. Therefore, it is crucial to establish the relationship between geometric errors of bearing components and motion error of assembled bearing, which contributes to improve rotational accuracy of assembled bearing in the design and machining of the bearing. For this purpose, considering roundness error and dimension error of the inner raceway, the outer raceway and rollers, a prediction method for rotational accuracy of cylindrical roller bearings is proposed, and the correctness of the proposed prediction method is verified by experimental results. The influences of roller's geometric error distribution, roller's roundness error and the number of rollers on the runout value of inner ring are investigated. The results show that, the roller arrangement with different geometric errors has a significant impact on rotational accuracy of cylindrical roller bearings. The rotational accuracy could be improved remarkably when multiple rollers with different dimension error are distributed alternately according to the size error. Even-order roundness error of rollers has a significant effect on the rotational accuracy, and the decrease level depends on the orders of roundness errors of bearing parts and the number of rollers. But odd-order roundness error of rollers has almost no effect on the rotational accuracy. The rotational accuracy of assembled bearing would be significantly improved or decreased when even order harmonic of rollers and the number of rollers satisfy specific relationships. The greater the order of roundness error of the rollers, the more severe the influence of the roller number on rotational accuracy of assembled bearing. The rotational accuracy can not be always improved with the increase of the number of rollers.</jats:p
