Signal Detection and Anti-Collision System Using ARM 7
© ASEE 2015The wireless communication technologies enabled vehicles on a highway to communicate, in order to share state information and information to avoid potential collision. This paper discusses a protocol which avoids vehicle accidents. The vehicle state information is being obtained using ultrasonic sensors, to predict potential accident and accordingly the speed of the vehicle is reduced using ARM processor (Advanced RISC Machines). This protocol provides warning message when the safety distance is reduces than the safety limit. Here, the car will be equipped with an ultrasonic sensor which will continuously track for any obstacles from the front side. If the obstacle is detected then the µC will continuously compare the distance given by the ultrasonic sensor. If distance goes on reducing indicating that the front car is coming closer to the current car then the microcontroller will start applying brakes until the distance is within safe limit
Brain Performances Between Process & Production
Brain performs based on how people set their mood. When they are optimistic, their brain acts and looks at things as normal, and easy to do, and vice versa. Brain handles tasks either as a process technique or as a production procedure. Process means brain forgets the time flow, and values the procedure. Production mean brain sizes the progression based on outcome even when the situation has the same outcome. Our study required participants to exercise in the gym to stimulate a change in mental state. We observed the outcome from weight scale, EEG, ECG, and EOG
Brain Signals Analysis during Concentrated and Diluted Modes
© ASEE 2015One way of avoiding procrastination is by activating areas within the brain where we switch from one mode of thinking to another. Scientists say the primary cause of procrastination is that people tend to become uncomfortable when they are not sure what to do. However, the discomfort can be changed. Scientists have found that stimulating the brain from an unpleasant to a happy thought is possible by fooling the brain, even it is temporary. This study focuses on brain signals during people’s interaction with non-familiar situations (diluted mode), monitors their performance during familiar activity (concentration mode), and analyzes their performance. Cerebral cortex signals are analyzed from the participant using electroencephalography (EEG). The brain can be trained to deal with unexpected scenarios that lead to frustration. This study can help improve a person’s life by training their brain to take proper action to deal with their discomfort
Brain Signals Analysis during Meditation and Problem Solving
© ASEE 2015Improving performance is one of the hot topics in every industry. Researchers are working on many perspectives to achieve ideal results to improve performance. Some of them study external factors while others focus on internal factors regarding performance. They consider it an essential base to affect subject productivity. However, relaxation, calming down, and confidence play major roles in refining the efficiency of people’s productivity. This paper concentrates on the internal factors of individuals observing their performance during activity. It then analyzes brain signals during meditation and solving math problems by observing signals from the cerebral cortex of the participant using electroencephalography (EEG). Mastering the subconscious leads to improving subject productivity and performance. A person can change their habits and better themselves without using chemicals or drugs, and everything depends on a self-anchor. Meditation gives direct access to hidden power and forces the mind to act differently to gain strength reducing pain and stress and can be a self-anchor
Automatic Guided Robot
In production industries and chemical plants there are some repetitive and tedious jobs that require a lot of monotonous actions, like moving objects. These activities are time bound which cannot be managed by humans alone. Automatic Guided Robot system is a reprogrammable robot which will be able to identify objects on its own and it will carry the identified object to its destination. System uses image processing for comparison of two images, image captured by camera and required image. Wireless camera is used to capture an image and the captured image is transferred to the computer using an RF module. Microcontroller AT Mega 16 will control the robot arms and wheels and works as per commands by computer
Engage Students in Engineering – using Everyday Engineering Examples
Fifty percent of students entering engineering programs do not earn an engineering degree. Many students leave engineering because unsatisfactory experiences in introductory engineering courses in their first and second years. Improving student engagement through the use of everyday examples is one key ENGAGE strategy because research indicates that this strategy has a powerful impact upon students’ satisfaction with and perseverance in engineering. This project implemented Everyday Engineering Examples (E^3s) in four engineering classes to teach technical concepts through a ENGAGE E^3s mini-grant. This paper introduces ENGAGE project and E^3s and shares the benefits of our E^3s mini-grant experience and strategies of using the E^3s examples in engineering classes

A Design of Sustainable Energy Laboratory
© 2011 by ASEESustainable energy, including solar power, wind power, and geothermal power, is very attractive since the utilization of sustainable resources can significantly decrease the emission and protect our environment. Also, the use of such energy can enhance the national energy security and reduce the dependence on the imported fossil fuel. Till now, several energy-related courses, such as Fuel Cells, Sustainable Energy, and Hybrid Vehicles, have been offered at the University of Bridgeport. In order to have hands-on experience, a laboratory is necessary for our engineering students with their interest in the sustainable energy as well as smart grid. A course, Sustainable Energy Laboratory, was proposed by the school’s curriculum committed and it is offered in the Spring semester, 2011. In this course, a series of experiments are designed on the operating and testing of solar panels, wind turbine, fuel cell. Moreover, experiments on power electronics and data acquisition are developed to optimize the utilization of different energy sources. Finally, simulation on smart grid power system and hybrid power system will help the students understand the challenges in the use of sustainable energy resources
Enhancing the Quality of Service by employing Swarm Intelligence in Multi-hop Heterogeneous Networks
Wireless Communication is a quickly developing section of mobile communication systems. The mobile communication system has encountered an exponential development throughout the most recent decade. Furthermore, Wireless Local Network (WLAN) supplant wired system in diverse environment, for example, living arrangements, commercial ventures and so on. The huge development of remote frameworks combined with the multiplication of tablets and PCs demonstrate a splendid future for the wireless network as a component of the layer networking infrastructure. The 3G mobile communication systems give extraordinary scope and subscriber management. Likewise for web access contrasted with 3GPP (third Generation Partnership Project) WIMAX (Wireless Interoperability for Microwave Access) WLANS support hyper information rates at lower expense, because of the correlative way of 3GPP and WLANs-WIMAX the incorporated heterogeneous system network architecture is built up for future creative servers and applications. However, while translating these systems, there happens to be an issue of verification and security. Thus the improvement of Quality of Service parameter, re-authentication delay and signaling cost are considered. In this paper, we propose an advancement based procedure utilizing swarm intelligence for Quality of Service improvements. The simulation is done utilizing NS2 and tested results are obtained for the parameters
Security in Cloud Computing Based on Third Party Auditor: A Survey
This Paper surveys security in cloud computing based on Third Party Auditor (TPA) also known as Trusted Third Party (TTP). There are various security models for safeguarding the client’s data in cloud. TPA provides secure connections between the user and the cloud server. Cloud Service Provider (CSP) Provides the clients with cloud storage and service. TPA has access to the client’s cloud data and all the critical information. There are many security models for making the TPA more reliable so the clients can trust the third party for storing their data. In this paper, we survey mostly the types of security models based on Third Party Auditing in cloud. We also discuss how these security models enable the third parties to gain the clients trust. The classification has been based on the adopted security method as well as on the kind of threats they are addressing
