A new species of eosentomid proturan, Eosentomon heatherproctorae, is described from Ontario. This new species is a member of the transitorium species-group. It differs from related North American species of this group in the following combination of characters: labral setae absent, foretarsal sensilla d and t3 long and stout, no anterior setae on the sternite of the eighth abdominal segment, and six setae on the sternites of the ninth and tenth abdominal segments

A Combined Limit on the Neutrino Mass from Neutrinoless Double-Beta Decay and Constraints on Sterile Majorana Neutrinos

We present a framework to combine data from the latest neutrinoless double-beta decay experiments for multiple isotopes and derive a limit on the effective neutrino mass using the experimental energy distributions. The combined limits on the effective mass range between 130-310 meV, where the spread is due to different model calculations of nuclear matrix elements (NMEs). The statistical consistency (p values) between this result and the signal observation claimed by the Heidelberg-Moscow experiment is derived. The limits on the effective mass are also evaluated in a (3+1) sterile neutrino model, assuming all neutrinos are Majorana particles.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figures. The improvement of Energy Efficiency (EE) in the residential sector generates different co- benefits, such as the enhancement of national competitiveness, energy supply, living conditions, social equity, the environment, among others. The objective of this paper is to analyze the dimensions of Energy Efficiency Policy in the residential sector of Argentina, namely the boundary conditions, the barriers and the instruments. To that end, a revision and evaluation of available energy information will be carried out, from a systemic and multidimensional approach, in which it is consider that energy policy effectiveness depends on several factors. In Argentina, the Economic-Financial and the Institutional barriers are the most important. If the boundaries conditions associated to them are not improved, these barriers will not be overcome regardless of the instruments implemented. This paper analyzes the concept of a fair energy transition, with special emphasis on the potential contribution of the residential sector to this objective. For these purposes, an analysis is made of recent transitions and residential energy efficiency policies in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Uruguay. Among the most relevant aspects, it is highlighted that energy transitions in the region have been more related to the substitution of energy sources in electricity generation, and that there is still an interesting way to go, with many policy opportunities for the promotion of residential energy efficiency.Fil: Recalde, Marina Yesica. Capillary interactions in Pickering emulsions

The effective capillary interaction potentials for small colloidal particles trapped at the surface of liquid droplets are calculated analytically. Pair potentials between capillary monopoles and dipoles, corresponding to particles floating on a droplet with a fixed center of mass and subjected to external forces and torques, respectively, exhibit a repulsion at large angular separations and an attraction at smaller separations, with the latter resembling the typical behavior for flat interfaces. This change of character is not observed for quadrupoles, corresponding to free particles on a mechanically isolated droplet. The analytical results for quadrupoles are compared with the numerical minimization of the surface free energy of the droplet in the presence of ellipsoidal particles.Comment: twocolumn, 8 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Phys.
