The overall objective of this paper is to produce success criteria considered critical in international joint ventures (IJV), specifically between Malaysian and foreign contractors outside Malaysia. The recognition of such criteria will contribute to the identification of non-viable projects and will enable improvements to be made to the IJV and other similar economies. Data specific to the present study was collected through face-to-face interviews, which were carried out with the General Manager of the respective companies to provide detailed information on their company structure, management and experience of any joint venture projects undertaken outside Malaysia. The main findings from the interviews are that the critical factors in IJV partner selection criteria were related to the reputation, inter-partner trust, experience, personal knowledge of the partner organizations, commitment and human resources management. The employment of Malaysian sub-contractors also lessened the complexity of management. This is largely due to the familiarity of working with fellow Malaysians in the Middle East

The village already has been in existence since the kingdoms era in the archipelago, whichwas then formalized by the Dutch colonial government, as a law community unit or “inlandsegemeenten”. For fulfilling the living needs, the village has a wealth and income regulatedaccording to a self-developed institutional system. Then with the creation of Law No.6 aboutthe village, the regulations about the village wealth and income are made according to theselaws, including the allocation of village fund. For optimizing the fund allocation distribution,a confinual control is needed either by the government or the surrounding community. Thisstudy uses the yuridic normative method. The control consequence theory among othersincludes the yuridic power theory, the control type theory, the control authority theory, thecommunication theory, the publicity theory and the power arrogance theory. With optimalcontrol it is expected that the allocation of the village fund can become a part of the villageeconomic activities and contribute to the national developments

. This study aims to assess the effect of dose of herbicide glyphosate and paraquat on the NT system to soil chemical properties, weeds characteristics of soybean yield. The design used is a randomized completely block design (RBD) factorials consisting of 2 (two) factors herbicide and dose with 3 (three) replication times. The variables properties of chemical, characteristics of weed, components and yield of soybean. The study results showed that all doses and types of herbicides provided increased pH, total soil-N, 1.50 kg dose ba ha-1 gave the value of K-dd are better than the doses of 0.75 and 2.25 kg ha-1. 2.25 kg dose b.a. ha-1 increased the percentage of weed control and dry weight weed is lower, improving yield and yield components of soybean. Herbicide glyphosate and paraquat have the same ability in improving soil chemical properties, improve weed control and reduce the percentage of dry weight of weeds and increase yield and components and yield of soybean. Interaction between 2.25 kg dose b.a. ha-1 and the herbicide glyphosate give a percentage higher weed control and dry weight weed is lowe

An experiment on space allowance of 0.095, 0.071, 0.057 and 0.048 m2/bird on wire mesh cages was conducted to study their effects on live-weight, feed intake and feed conversion of Orgal broilers from the age of 4 to 10 weeks. Heterophil/lymphocyte (H/L) ratio,an indicator of stress was also studied to determine whether over-crowding would effect this ratio. During the first 2 weeks of the experiment increasing stocking is reduced feed intake and improve feed conversion without significantly affecting growth rate. Overall, birds on the most liberal floor space allowance (0.095 m2/bird) had the best growth rate (39.2 glda») but this was achieved at a significantly higher feed intake (127.9 g/day) and poorer feed conversion (3.3).Conversely, birds on the highest stocking density (0.048 ,rz2lbiTd) had the poorest performance in terms of growlh rate (32.2 g/day) and feed intake(90.6 g/day). Birds on the two higher stocking density were constantly under stress as indicated by their relatively high H/L. ratios from the fourth week, of the study onwards, these two treatments also had higher mortalities. The results of the present study showed that stress associated with overcrowding reduced performance in broilers. A space allowance of 0.071 m2/bird is sufficient under om- local conditions for broiled reared in raised floor cages

Comparative study of stress-strain characteristic of peat soil

This paper shows the stress-strain behavior of peat from the perspective of geotechnical engineering based on laboratory test. Stress happens when a load applied to a certain specimen and deformed the specimen while strain is the response from applied stress on a specimen. Peat is known as an ultimate soft soil in engineering terms because it has low shear strength and compressibility. This research is concerned about the stress-strain behavior of hemic peat. The undisturbed samples were collected at Parit Sulong and Parit Nipah, Batu Pahat, Johore, Malaysia. Normal stresses are 12.5kPa, 25kPa, 50kPa and 100kPa. The shear rate to determine the stress-strain on peat is 0.1mm/min. It is a drained condition test. Both results from each method that obtained were compared based on the relationships of stress-strain. Parit Sulong has higher stress-strain than Parit Nipah. If shear stress increased, shear strain also increased. The result shows that, direct simple shear test of stress-strain that tested on hemic is more relevant than a direct shear box because DSS shear the entire specimen of peat while DSB only shear at the center of the specimen. Geotechnical engineers can use the direct simple shear method to understand efficiently about the stress-strain behaviour of pea

This paper discusses three ratio estimators for population variance in simple randomsampling using quartiles of the auxiliary variable given by Subramani andKumarapandiyan [International Journal of Statistics and Applications., 2(5): 67-72].The estimators discussed are the ratio estimator using the first quartile, the third quartileand the inter-quartile range. These three estimators discussed are biased estimators.Furthermore, their mean square errors are compared to show which one is the mostefficient estimator. This comparison shows that the ratio estimator using inter-quartilerange is the most efficient estimator
