Universal Programmable Quantum Circuit Schemes to Emulate an Operator
Unlike fixed designs, programmable circuit designs support an infinite number
of operators. The functionality of a programmable circuit can be altered by
simply changing the angle values of the rotation gates in the circuit. Here, we
present a new quantum circuit design technique resulting in two general
programmable circuit schemes. The circuit schemes can be used to simulate any
given operator by setting the angle values in the circuit. This provides a
fixed circuit design whose angles are determined from the elements of the given
matrix-which can be non-unitary-in an efficient way. We also give both the
classical and quantum complexity analysis for these circuits and show that the
circuits require a few classical computations. They have almost the same
quantum complexities as non-general circuits. Since the presented circuit
designs are independent from the matrix decomposition techniques and the global
optimization processes used to find quantum circuits for a given operator, high
accuracy simulations can be done for the unitary propagators of molecular
Hamiltonians on quantum computers. As an example, we show how to build the
circuit design for the hydrogen molecule.Comment: combined with former arXiv:1207.174
A manifestly MHV Lagrangian for N=4 Yang-Mills
We derive a manifestly MHV Lagrangian for the N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills
theory in light-cone superspace. This is achieved by constructing a canonical
redefinition which maps the N=4 superfield and its conjugate to a new pair of
superfields. In terms of these new superfields the N=4 Lagrangian takes a
(non-polynomial) manifestly MHV form, containing vertices involving two
superfields of negative helicity and an arbitrary number of superfields of
positive helicity. We also discuss constraints satisfied by the new
superfields, which ensure that they describe the correct degrees of freedom in
the N=4 supermultiplet. We test our derivation by showing that an expansion of
our superspace Lagrangian in component fields reproduces the correct gluon MHV
vertices.Comment: 37 pages, 1 figure. v2: minor changes, references adde
Maximally Supersymmetric Yang-Mills in five dimensions in light-cone superspace
We formulate maximally supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in five dimensions in
light-cone superspace. The light-cone Hamiltonian is of the quadratic form and
the theory can be understood as an oxidation of the N=4 Super Yang-Mills Theory
in four dimensions. We specifically study three-point counterterms and show how
these counterterms vanish on-shell. This study is a preliminary to set up the
technique in order to study possible four-point counterterms.Comment: 25 pages, typos corrected, references adde
The increasing trend in preterm birth in public hospitals in northern Argentina
Objective: To identify factors associated with the increasing incidence of preterm birth in northern Argentina. Methods: In an observational study, data were reviewed from a prospective, population-based registry of pregnancy outcomes in six cities in 2009-2012. The primary outcome was preterm birth (at 20-37 weeks). Bivariate tests and generalized estimating equations were used within a conceptual hierarchical framework to estimate the cluster-corrected annual trend in odds of preterm birth. Results: The study reviewed data from 11 433 live births. There were 484 (4.2%) preterm births. The incidence of preterm births increased by 38% between 2009 and 2012, from 37.5 to 51.7 per 1000 live births. Unadjusted risk factors for preterm birth included young or advanced maternal age, normal body mass index, nulliparity, no prenatal care, no vitamins or supplements during pregnancy, multiple gestation, and maternal hypertension or prepartum hemorrhage. The prevalence of many risk factors increased over the study period, but variations in these factors explained less than 1% of the increasing trend in preterm birth. Conclusion: The incidence of preterm births insix small cities in northern Argentina increased greatly between 2009 and 2012. This trend was unexplained by the risk factors measured. Other factors should be assessed in future studies.Fil: Weaver, Emily H.. University of North Carolina School at Chapel Hill; Estados UnidosFil: Gibbons, Luz. From lightcone actions to maximally supersymmetric amplitudes
In this article actions for N=4 SYM and N=8 supergravity are formulated in
terms of a chiral superfield, which contains only the physical degrees of
freedom of either theory. In these new actions, which originate from the
lightcone superspace, the supergravity cubic vertex is the square of the gauge
theory one (omitting the color structures). Amplitude calculations using the
corresponding Feynman supergraph rules are tedious, but can be simplified by
choosing a preferred superframe. Recursive calculations of all MHV amplitudes
in N=4 SYM and the four-point N=8 supergravity amplitude are shown to agree
with the known results and connections to the BCFW recursion relations are
pointed out. Finally, the new path integrals are discussed in the context of
the double-copy property relating N=4 SYM theory to N=8 supergravity.Comment: 29 pages, 2 figures, v2: title modified, published versio
Superfield Description of a Self-Dual Supergravity a la MacDowell-Mansouri
Using MacDowell-Mansouri theory, in this work, we investigate a superfield
description of the self-dual supergravity a la Ashtekar. We find that in order
to reproduce previous results on supersymmetric Ashtekar formalism, it is
necessary to properly combine the supersymmetric field-strength in the
Lagrangian. We extend our procedure to the case of supersymmetric Ashtekar
formalism in eight dimensions.Comment: 19 pages, Latex; section 6 improve
The liver X receptor pathway is highly upregulated in rheumatoid arthritis synovial macrophages and potentiates TLR-driven cytokine release

Objectives: Macrophages are central to the inflammatory processes driving rheumatoid arthritis (RA) synovitis. The molecular pathways that are induced in synovial macrophages and thereby promote RA disease pathology remain poorly understood.

Methods: We used microarray to characterise the transcriptome of synovial fluid (SF) macrophages compared with matched peripheral blood monocytes from patients with RA (n=8).

Results: Using in silico pathway mapping, we found that pathways downstream of the cholesterol activated liver X receptors (LXRs) and those associated with Toll-like receptor (TLR) signalling were upregulated in SF macrophages. Macrophage differentiation and tumour necrosis factor α promoted the expression of LXRα. Furthermore, in functional studies we demonstrated that activation of LXRs significantly augmented TLR-driven cytokine and chemokine secretion.

Conclusions: The LXR pathway is the most upregulated pathway in RA synovial macrophages and activation of LXRs by ligands present within SF augments TLR-driven cytokine secretion. Since the natural agonists of LXRs arise from cholesterol metabolism, this provides a novel mechanism that can promote RA synovitis.
