{\pi} junction transition in InAs self-assembled quantum dot coupled with SQUID
We report the transport measurements on the InAs self-assembled quantum dots
(SAQDs) which have a unique structural zero-dimensionality, coupled to a
superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). Owing to the SQUID
geometry, we directly observe a {\pi} phase shift in the current phase relation
and the negative supercurrent indicating {\pi} junction behavior by not only
tuning the energy level of SAQD by back-gate but also controlling the coupling
between SAQD and electrodes by side-gate. Our results inspire new future
quantum information devices which can link optical, spin, and superconducting
state.Comment: 3 page
Saturation Magnetostriction and Volume Magnetostriction of Amorphous Ribbons Based on Fe-Ni and Fe-Co
The saturation magnetostriction and the forced volume magnetostriction of Fe-Ni and Fe-Co amorphous ribbons were measured from 77°K to room temperature by a three terminal capacitance method. It was found that the magnetostriction was nearly isotropic. In Fe-Ni amorphous system, the saturation λ_s and the volume magnetostriction constants δω/δH decreased monotonously with the increase of Ni concentration from 31×10^ and 21×10^/Oe respectively for Fe_P_C_ to 15×10^ and 7×10^/Oe respectively for Fe_Ni_P_C_. The temperature dependence of the saturation magnetostriction was not simple decreasing function of the temperature. In Fe-Co system, there was a remarkable change of the sign of the magnetostriction nearly equal to Fe_Co_Si_B_

Use of Ionic Liquid in Fabrication, Characterization, and Processing of Anodic Porous Alumina
Two different ionic liquids have been tested in the electrochemical fabrication of anodic porous alumina in an aqueous solution of oxalic acid. It was found that during galvanostatic anodization of the aluminum at a current density of 200 mA/cm2, addition of 0.5% relative volume concentration of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoborate resulted in a three-fold increase of the growth rate, as compared to the bare acidic solution with the same acid concentration. This ionic liquid was also used successfully for an assessment of the wettability of the outer surface of the alumina, by means of liquid contact angle measurements. The results have been discussed and interpreted with the aid of atomic force microscopy. The observed wetting property allowed to use the ionic liquid for protection of the pores during a test removal of the oxide barrier layer
A comparison of information sharing behaviours across 379 health conditions on Twitter.
Objectives: To compare information sharing of over 379 health conditions on Twitter to uncover trends and patterns of online user activities. Methods: We collected 1.5 million tweets generated by over 450,000 Twitter users for 379 health conditions, each of which was quantified using a multivariate model describing engagement, user and content aspects of the data and compared using correlation and network analysis to discover patterns of user activities in these online communities. Results: We found a significant imbalance in terms of the size of communities interested in different health conditions, regardless of the seriousness of these conditions. Improving the informativeness of tweets by using, for example, URLs, multimedia and mentions can be important factors in promoting health conditions on Twitter. Using hashtags on the contrary is less effective. Social network analysis revealed similar structures of the discussion found across different health conditions. Conclusions: Our study found variance in activity between different health communities on Twitter, and our results are likely to be of interest to public health authorities and officials interested in the potential of Twitter to raise awareness of public health
