Dynamics of Micropollutant Adsorption to Polystyrene Surfaces Probed by Angle-Resolved Second Harmonic Scattering
Angle-resolved second harmonic scattering is used to probe the adsorption dynamics of aqueous cationic and anionic dye molecules onto polystyrene surfaces. The adsorptions of malachite green to negatively charged polystyrene and naphthol yellow S to positively charged polystyrene are both highly favorable, with Î"GAds values of -10.9 ± 0.2 and -10.27 ± 0.09 kcal/mol, respectively. A competitive displacement methodology was employed to obtain values for the adsorption free energies of various smaller neutral organic molecules, including the important micropollutant ascorbic acid, caffeine, and pentoxifylline. For charged adsorbers, electrostatic interactions appear to significantly contribute to adsorption behavior. However, electrostatic repulsion does not necessarily deter the adsorption of molecules with large uncharged moieties (e.g., surfactants). In these cases, the mechanism of adsorption is dominated by van der Waals interactions, with the surface charge playing a relatively minor role
Penelitian Aspek Perkotaan Dumai Dan Bitung Dan Kemungkinannya Sebagai Lokasi Kawasan Ekonomi Khusus Di Indonesia
Special Economic Zone has been introduced as a new approach in Indonesia for regional development purposes on the basic of economic activities concentration. Some countries have run such project as part of national income and thus opening new job opportunity for the local people. A concept for its development need to be established since it also affects to the government's expenditure. This is a chance for the government to open mind in creating new investment from other countries to Indonesia. Two cities have been chosen as cases of study namely Bitung – north Sulawesi Province and Dumai – Riau Province. The first is known as fish processing industry city whereas the second one is known as CPO processing industry city. This study has proved that Dumai has a good prospect as a special economic zone based on the application of Powersim dynamic programming model for its analysis
Penelitian Aspek Lingkungan Fisik Perairan Sekitar Pelabuhan Sabang
Ports with all ships movement might be one of the busiest center of activities in the coastal areas. It could be understood since ports become the main gates where passengers and goods are collected and distributed from and to entire of state. The affect from these activities may effect to its degradation of waters quality around port because of oil spill, dismissal of chemicals, liquid and solid waste around it. Sabang port lay in an International fairway trajectory which have crisis to oil spill and other discard materials to the territorial waters Understanding the quality of territorial waters will help to overcome the problems which may be faced at a period to come
Continuity of Local Time: An applied perspective
Continuity of local time for Brownian motion ranks among the most notable
mathematical results in the theory of stochastic processes. This article
addresses its implications from the point of view of applications. In
particular an extension of previous results on an explicit role of continuity
of (natural) local time is obtained for applications to recent classes of
problems in physics, biology and finance involving discontinuities in a
dispersion coefficient. The main theorem and its corollary provide physical
principles that relate macro scale continuity of deterministic quantities to
micro scale continuity of the (stochastic) local time.Comment: To appear in: "The fascination of Probability, Statistics and Their
Applications. In honour of Ole E. Barndorff-Nielsen on his 80th birthday
