Determination of the η\eta and η\eta' Mixing Angle from the Pseudoscalar Transition Form Factors

The possible range of ηη\eta-\eta' mixing angle is determined from the transition form factors Fηγ(Q2)F_{\eta \gamma}(Q^2) and Fηγ(Q2)F_{\eta' \gamma}(Q^2) with the help of the present experimental data. For such purpose, the quark-flavor mixing scheme is adopted and the pseudoscalar transition form factors are calculated under the light-cone pQCD framework, where the transverse momentum corrections and the contributions beyond the leading Fock state have been carefully taken into consideration. We construct a phenomenological expression to estimate the contributions to the form factors beyond the leading Fock state based on their asymptotic behavior at Q20Q^2\to 0 and Q2Q^2\to\infty. By taking the quark-flavor mixing scheme, our results lead to ϕ=38.0±1.0±2.0\phi= 38.0^{\circ}\pm 1.0^{\circ}\pm 2.0^{\circ}, where the first error coming from experimental uncertainty and the second error coming from the uncertainties of the wavefunction parameters. The possible intrinsic charm component in η\eta and η\eta' is discussed and our present analysis also disfavors a large portion of intrinsic charm component in η\eta and η\eta', e.g. fηc50MeV|f^c_{\eta'}|\le 50 {\rm MeV}.Comment: 18 Pages, 3 figures. Radiative decays of light vector mesons in a quark level linear sigma model

    Get PDF
We calculate the P0 to gamma gamma, V0 to P0 gamma and V0to V'0 gamma gamma decays in the framework of a U(3)xU(3) linear sigma model which includes constituent quarks. For the first two decays this approach improves results based on the anomalous Wess-Zumino term, with contributions due to SU(3) symmetry breaking and vector mixing. The phi to (omega, rho) gamma gamma decays are dominated by resonant eta' exchange . Our calculation for the later decays improves and update similar calculations in the -closely related- framework of vector meson dominance. We obtain BR(phi to rho gamma gamma)=2.5x10^{-5} and BR(phi to omega gamma gamma)=2.8x10^{-6} within the scope of the high-luminosity phi factories.Comment: 8 pages, submitted to Phys. Rev.

    Observation of the decay \psip\rar\kstark

Using 14 million ψ(2S)\psi(2S) events collected with the BESII detector, branching fractions of \psip\rar\kstarkpm and \kstarknn are determined to be: \calB(\psip\rar\kstarkpm)=(2.9^{+1.3}_{-1.7}\pm0.4)\times 10^{-5} and \calB(\psip\rar\kstarknn)=(13.3^{+2.4}_{-2.7}\pm1.9)\times 10^{-5}. The results confirm the violation of the "12%" rule for these two decay channels with higher precision. A large isospin violation between the charged and neutral modes is observed.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figure

A short C-terminal domain of Yku70p is essential for telomere maintenance.

The Yku heterodimer from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, comprising Yku70p and Yku80p, is involved in the maintenance of a normal telomeric DNA end structure and is an essential component of nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ). To investigate the role of the Yku70p subunit in these two different pathways, we generated C-terminal deletions of the Yku70 protein and examined their ability to complement the phenotypes of a yku70(-) strain. Deleting only the 30 C-terminal amino acids of Yku70p abolishes Yku DNA binding activity and causes a yku(-) phenotype; telomeres are shortened, and NHEJ is impaired. Using conditions in which at least as much mutant protein as full-length protein is normally detectable in cell extracts, deleting only 25 C-terminal amino acids of Yku70p results in no measurable effect on DNA binding of the Yku protein, and the cells are fully proficient for NHEJ. Nevertheless, these cells display considerably shortened telomeres, and significant amounts of single-stranded overhangs of the telomeric guanosine-rich strands are observed. Co-overexpression of this protein with Yku80p could rescue some but not all of the telomere-related phenotypes. Therefore, the C-terminal domain in Yku70p defines at least one domain that is especially involved in telomere maintenance but not in NHEJ
