http://accelconf.web.cern.ch/AccelConf/ICALEPCS2013/papers/moppc043.pdfInternational audienceThe Spiral2 linear accelerator will drive high intensity beams, up to 5mA, to up to 200kW at linac exit. Such beams can seriously damage and activate the machine ! To prevent from such situation, the Machine Protection System (MPS) has been designed. This system is connected to diagnostics indicating if the beam remains under specific limits. As soon as a diagnostic detects its limit is crossed, it informs the MPS which will in turn take actions that can lead to a beam cut-off in appropriated timing requirements. In this process, the Beam Loss Monitors (BLM) are involved in monitoring prompt radiation generated by beam particles interactions with beam line components and responsible for activation, on one side, and thermal effects, on the other side. BLM system relies mainly on scintillator detectors, NIM electronics and a VME subsystem monitoring the heating of the machine. This subsystem, also called "Thermal BLM", will be integrated in the Spiral2 EPICS environment. For its development, a specific project organization has been setup since the development is subcontracted to Cosylab. This paper focuses on the Thermal BLM controls aspects and describes this development process

Absence of low-temperature dependence of the decay of 7Be and 198Au in metallic hosts

The electron-capture (EC) decay rate of 7Be in metallic Cu host and the beta-decay rate of 198Au in the host alloy Al-Au have been measured simultaneously at several temperatures, ranging from 0.350 K to 293 K. No difference of the half-life of 198Au between 12.5 K and 293 K is observed to a precision of 0.1%. By utilizing the special characteristics of our double-source assembly, possible geometrical effects that influence the individual rates could be eliminated. The ratio of 7Be to 198Au activity thus obtained also remains constant for this temperatures range to the experimental precision of 0.15(0.16)%. The resulting null temperature dependence is discussed in terms of the inadequacy of the often-used Debye-Huckel model for such measurements.Comment: Four pages, three figures. Automated systems are needed to manage and analyze this knowledge, allowing the discovery of new information related to tumors and the improvement of medical treatments. This paper presents the Laboratory Assistant Suite (LAS), a software platform with a modular architecture designed to assist researchers throughout diverse laboratory activities. The LAS supports the management and the integration of heterogeneous biomedical data, and provides graphical tools to build complex analyses on integrated data. Furthermore, the LAS interfaces are designed to ease data collection and management even in hostile environments (e.g., in sterile conditions), so as to improve data qualit

International audienceThe Spiral2 project consists of a new facility to provide high intensity rare ions beams. It is based on a primary beam driver accelerator (RFQ followed by a superconducting linac) and a rare ion production process delivering the beam either to a low energy experimental area or to the existing Ganil facility. From October this year, one ion source coupled with a first beam line section will be in test; then, the injector (ion and deuteron sources, RFQ) will be tested by the end of 2010 so the whole accelerator should be commissioned by the end of 2011; the first exotic beams being planned one year later. The accelerator control system design results from the collaboration between several institutes and Epics has been chosen as the basic framework. The paper therefore presents the main choices: MVME5500 CPUs, VME I/O boards, VxWorks, Siemens PLCs, Modbus field buses, EDM screens and Java applications, Linux PCs, use of a LabView/Epics gateway... Specific topics are the evaluation of the XAL environment, an Epics design to address the power supplies, an emittance measurement system, the development of a beam profiler interface and the investigation for a triggered acquisition system

MOCOAAB03, http://accelconf.web.cern.ch/AccelConf/ICALEPCS2013/papers/mocoaab03.pdfInternational audienceThe commissioning of the first phase of the Spiral2 Radioactive Ion Beams facility at Ganil will soon start, so requiring the control system components to be delivered in time. Yet, parts of the system were validated during preliminary tests performed with ions and deuterons beams at low energy. The control system development results from the collaboration between Ganil, CEA-IRFU, CNRS-IPHC laboratories, using appropriate tools and approach. Based on Epics, the control system follows a classical architecture. At the lowest level, Modbus/TCP protocol is considered as a field bus. Then, equipment are handled by IOCs (soft or VME/VxWorks) with a software standardized interface between IOCs and clients applications on top. This last upper layer consists of Epics standard tools, CSS/BOY user interfaces within the socalled CSSop Spiral2 context suited for operation and, for machine tunings, high level applications implemented by Java programs developed within a Spiral2 framework derived from the open-Xal one. Databases are used for equipment data and alarms archiving, to configure equipment and to manage the machine lattice and beam settings. A global overview of the system is therefore here proposed

This contribution takes part of a contrastive work lead on a translation corpus of French and Spanish fixed expressions. It aims at clarifying and making more complex the semantic analysis of fixed expressions. We mainly show the lack of relevance of the notion of non-compositionality often used in the phraseology field to define and delimit the linguistic meaning of fixed expressions. In view of this negative analysis, we propose a metalanguage and new analysis tools that are more likely to describe what happens on the interpretative level. The notions of lexical scene and real scene are thus introduced as well as the distinction between lexical compositionality and global compositionality. Finally, we propose a semantic typology of the fixed expressions, built around the notion of opacity, and we expose its pragmatic dimensions by developing the notion of “established expression”

A Small but Efficient Collaboration for the Spiral2 Control System Development

http://accelconf.web.cern.ch/AccelConf/ICALEPCS2013/papers/tucobab01.pdfThe Spiral2 radioactive ion beam facility to be commissioned in 2014 at Ganil (Caen) is built within international collaborations. This also concerns the control system development shared by three laboratories: Ganil has to coordinate the control and automated systems work packages, CEA/IRFU is in charge of the "injector" (sources and low energy beam lines) and the LLRF, CNRS/IPHC provides the emittancemeters and a beam diagnostics platform. Besides the technology Epics based, this collaboration, although being handled with a few people, nevertheless requires an appropriate and tight organization to reach the objectives given by the project. This contribution describes how, started in 2006, the collaboration for controls has been managed both from the technological point of view and the organizational one, taking into account not only the previous experience, technical background or skill of each partner, but also their existing working practices and "cultural" approaches. A first feedback comes from successful beam tests carried out at Saclay and Grenoble; a next challenge is the migration to operation, Ganil having to run Spiral2 as the other members are moving to new projects

This thesis aims at analyzing Spanish to French translation strategies of fixed expressions. In thisperspective, we have gathered a contrastive corpus of fixed expressions in order to question their semantic, syntactic and pragmatic properties and to discuss phraseology’s fundamental notions such as fixation, opacity or non-compositionality. We also introduce semantic analysis tools : distinctions between lexicalcompositionality and global compositionality, on one hand, and between lexical scene and real scene, onanother hand. The second part of the study proposes a descriptive typology of translation operations observed in thecorpus offering a global view of the strategies adopted by the translators that allows reflection on questionssuch as the equivalence or methods in fixed expressions translation. This typology reveals the width and thegradualism of the variation and correspondence spectrum that we find among fixed expressions. After introducing the theoretical framework and the state of art in the previous chapters, the last part of thethesis is entirely dedicated to the translation dimension of fixed expressions. We examine here theconstrative corpus in order to question the notion of equivalence and to propose a more precisecharacterization of it. In order to have strong and operational criteria for an optimal translation, we propose atranslation methodology based on the study of the source expressions as a mean to identifying translationdifficulties whether they are specific or not of the object.

ADAM, Directeur de recherche CNRS, Université de Rennes 1.Low phonon-energy glasses, like fluorozirconate glasses, are interesting materials for their potential in active optics, especially for amplifier and laser systems. In the telecommunication field, there is an ever-increasing demand for integrated optical systems to be implemented in high-bit-rate local and metropolitan networks. In this context, planar waveguides were realised by F-/Cl- ion-exchange on ZBLA (ZrF4-BaF2-LaF3-AlF3) glasses for optical amplification in the C-band (1530-1560 nm). Time and temperature parameters have been determined in order to obtain single-mode propagation of light at 1,55 µm in a planar waveguide. Then, channel waveguides have been obtained by a photolithography process, adapted to fluoride glasses, using a silica mask. Opto-geometric parameters were measured. Spectroscopic properties of Er3+-doped glasses were studied in order to determine the key parameters of the optical amplifier at 1,55 µm. To take advantage of high-power laser diode at 980 nm for pumping, we used Er3+/Ce3+ and Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped waveguides. Energy transfers in co-doped systems were efficient. "On/off" gain of 3,9 dB/cm was demonstrated at 1530 nm in a single mode channel waveguide co-doped with Er3+/Ce3+, with linear pump-power dependence. Propagation losses were estimated to be in the 0,3 dB/cm range at 1,58 µm. These encouraging results allow to envisage a future development of theses amplifier systems. ZBLAN (ZrF4-BaF2-LaF3-AlF3-NaF) bulk Tm3+-doped glasses were also studied to obtain laser emission around 1,8 µm.
