Synergistic photovoltaic-thermoelectric effect in a nanostructured CdTe/Bi2Te3 heterojunction for hybrid energy harvesting
Recent advances in the photovoltaic and thermoelectric material synthesis and characterization have engendered significant interest in their solar energy harvesting. However, examples of energy harvesting by the two effects in one single cell are relatively rare, and at present there are no known examples to solve the heat problem in a conventional solar cell. Here we show that a synergistic photovoltaic and thermoelectric effect takes place in a single heterojunction solar cell that consists a p-type CdTe nanorod array and n-type Bi2Te3 nanostructures. This novel cell is capable of converting light and heat into electricity via combined photovoltaic and thermoelectric processes, providing a simple and elegant material structure for development of high efficiency solar cells which can harvest solar energy over a wider solar spectrum. In addition, this discovery may provide a viable solution to the heat problems in conventional solar cells. Based on the synergistic photovoltaic and thermoelectric effect, the cell of FTO/CdS/CdTe/Bi2Te3 has been prepared and an efficiency (η) increase of 23.3% is achieved after 1 min illuminatio
Taylor-newton homotopy method for computing the depth of flow rate for a channel
Homotopy approximation methods (HAM) can be considered as one of the new methods belong to the general classification of the computational methods which can be used to find the numerical solution of many types of the problems in science and engineering. The general problem relates to the flow and the depth of water in open channels such as rivers and canals is a nonlinear algebraic equation which is known as continuity equation. The solution of this equation is the
depth of the water. This paper represents attempt to solve the equation of depth and flow using Newton homotopy based on Taylor series. Numerical example is given to show the
effectiveness of the purposed method using MATLAB language
The Role of Balanced Scorecard to Raise the Financial Performance of SME’s Supply Chain
Abstract- The purpose of this study is the role of the balanced scorecard to raise the financial performance of SMEs supply chain. This research is an applied and correlated study which formed the statistical society of the research staff with 1122 people for small and medium enterprises. Using the Cochran formula, the statistical sample of 286 was selected by stratified sampling. Using the Cochran formula, the statistical sample of 286 was selected by stratified sampling. The data gathering tool was a questionnaire of balanced scorecard and financially researcher-made questionnaire includes dimensions of value management, risk control and cost control. The reliability of the questionnaires was 0.79 for the human capital questionnaire and 0.80 for the financial performance questionnaire with Cronbach's alpha coefficient and the validity of the questionnaires was confirmed by experts. In this research, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression test were used. The results of the research showed that the scorecard is balanced and affects the financial performance of small and medium enterprises supply chain. In this research, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression test were used. The results of this study showed that the balanced scorecard is effective on the financial performance of small and medium enterprises supply chain. MECHANISMS ON FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF IRAQI STOCK EXCHANGE
This paper examines the financial impact of the mechanisms of internal corporate governance in the context of the Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX). A quantitative research design was selected to answer the research questions and five hypotheses. Sixty items were used to measure the effects of the internal corporate governance mechanisms on the financial performance of the ISX. A sample consisting of Iraqi Stock Exchange branches was chosen using the standardized random sample technique. The data analysis using SPSS version 25 and SmartPLS 3.28 showed the positive impact of the internal corporate governance mechanisms on the financial performance of the ISX. This result showed the significance of Board Committees in improving financial performance ( beta0.137; t4.343; p0.001). Likewise, the result also showed the significant impact of Board of Directors on financial performance (beta0.217; t7.771; p0.000). Financial Statements & Auditors also pose a major significant impact on financial performance ( beta0.296; t6.508; p0.000), as does Ownership Structure (beta0.209; t4.607; p0.000). Lastly, Stock-Based Compensation was also shown to pose an impact on financial performance ( beta0.167; t3.389; p0.001). This study\u27s practical contribution is in addressing the weak financial performance of Iraqi commercial companies and urging the adoption of internal governance elements to solve the problems between management and shareholders, which helps reduce risks and corporate collapse as well as boost financial performance.
Generation of IPv6 addresses based on one-to-many reversible mapping using AES
The proliferation of enterprise wireless network raises the security concern in any organization despite the unarguable benefits it brings about. At the same time, the initiative to migrate from IPv4 (Internet Protocol version four) to IPv6 (Internet Protocol version six) is gaining momentum across the globe to resolve the IP address depletion problem as well as reaping the benefit of it. This research proposes a new scheme to manage IPv6 addresses in an enterprise wireless local area network (WLAN) which may be incorporated into DHCPv6 (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6) software. In this scheme each user is assigned a dynamic IPv6 address that is generated cryptographically. Each time a user tries to access the network, different IPv6 address will be given which is generated using CFB (Cipher Feedback) mode of AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm, whereby there is a one-to-many reversible mapping between user and IPv6 addresses. In this way, it is possible for the network administrator to identify users in real time from their IPv6 address although a user’s IP address regularly changed. Dynamically changing IP address will impede an external network adversary’s effort to track user’s online behavior, thus enhancing privacy
Self-Reflection and Transformation Among Ningxia International Students in Malaysia
The study investigated the learning experiences and the adaptation process among Ningxia China international students studying in Malaysia. The paper aims to highlight the researcher’s self-reflection on the learning experience which led to self-transformation. The study employed a qualitative paradigm where a total of the ten participants were interviewed. Through a unique self-reflection during analysis, the researcher placed herself in the study and supported by ten other respondents. The researcher went through a rigorous search within herself. In addition, a set of semi-structured questions was used during the interview. The self-reflection of the researcher was conceptualized, interviews were transcribed and data were triangulated. Coding and constant comparison were adopted during data analysis. The findings showed the sub-themes of the learning experiences which led to self -transformation. The results yielded from this study contributed significantly towards the notion of transformation, study abroad and internationalisation. Thus, this implies that to able to succeed while studying abroad, it is important to understand the learning processes and the outcomes of the transformation within an individual
Picture-vocab: Self-made picture dictionary to improve pupils’ vocabulary retention in Malaysia
This project was conducted to investigate whether the use of pictures able to improve pupils’ vocabulary retention. There were 36 pupils from an urban school located in Malaysia who are in year 4 involved as participants. The pupils were of average proficiency level of the English Language. A pre-test and post-test were conducted in order to identify the effectiveness of the intervention. An interview was carried out with 10 pupils in the post intervention for triangulation purpose. The scores from the pre-test and post-test were compared to measure the effectiveness of the intervention. Whereas, the analysis of the interview was procured on pupils’ perception towards the intervention. The findings indicate that pupils are able to remember the vocabularies taught for a longer period of time when the words are associated with pictures. Findings also indicate the use of the pictures in improving their vocabulary retention
