Hematology and serum chemistry reference values of stray dogs in Bangladesh
Hematology and serum chemistry values were obtained from 28 male and 22 female stray dogs in Chittagong Metropolitan area, Bangladesh. The goal of the study was to establish reference value for hematology and serum chemistry for these semi wild animals in relation to age, sex, reproductive stage and body condition. No significant differences were found for mean values of hemoglobin, packed cell volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, white blood cell, differential leukocyte count, total protein, albumin, glucose, cholesterol, phosphorus and potassium among or between sexes, ages, reproductive states or body conditions. Significant differences were noted for erythrocyte sedimentation rate (p<0.02) between sexes. Among different age groups significant differences were found for total red blood cell count (p<0.001). Different body conditions have significant differences in red blood cell count, mean corpuscular volume and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (p<0.001). Pregnant and non-pregnant females differed significantly in their red blood cell count, mean corpuscular volume and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (p<0.001)
Development of Web Services for Computational and Analytical Processing Code of Software Metric
This study is to develop a web service, which allows to calculate and conduct analytical processing software metrics. To achieve the goal we need to an analytical overview of the software that allows to calculate code metrics, examine the existing metrics, learn the basic architectural approaches of building a web service, explore the applicability of fuzzy logic algorithms (West et.al., 2015) for the implementation of intelligent analysis software metrics, implement a web service that allows you to calculate and conduct analytical processing software metrics based on expert opinion and make testing design a web service. There are many approaches to solving the problem of testing and verification of software. During the development of this application was used unit testing. The purpose of unit testing - to isolate parts of the program and to show that these parts are operable individually. During the development process have been implemented unit tests, as a result of testing problems have been identified. The operation of the Web service is fully consistent with the previously defined functional requirements. Consequently, the task of determining the effectiveness of the programmer and the source code evaluation solved. Receiver function imaging of mantle transition zone discontinuities beneath Alaska
Subduction of tectonic plates is one of the most important tectonic processes, yet many aspects of subduction zone geodynamics remain unsolved and poorly understood, such as the depth extent of the subducted slab and its geometry. The Alaska subduction zone, which is associated with the subduction of the Pacific Plate beneath the North America plate, has a complex tectonic setting and carries a series of subduction episodes, and represents an excellent target to study such plate tectonic processes. Previous seismological studies in Alaska have proposed different depth estimations and geometry for the subducted slab. The Mantle transition zone discontinuities of the 410km and the 660 km provide independent constraints on the depth extent of the subducted slabs. We conducted a receiver function study to map the topography of the 410 km and the 660 km discontinuities beneath Alaska and its adjacent areas by taking advantage of the teleseismic data from the new USArray deployment in Alaska and northwestern Canada. Stacking over 75,000 high-quality radial receiver functions recorded in Alaska with more than 40 years of recording period, the topographies of the 410 km and 660 km are mapped. The depths of both d410 and d660 show systematic spatial variations, the mean depth of d410 and d660 are within 6 km and 6 km from the global average, respectively. The mean MTZ thickness of the entire study area is within -2 km from the global average of 250 km, suggesting normal MTZ conditions on average. Central and south-central Alaska are characterized by a larger than normal MTZ thickness, suggesting that the subducting Pacific slab is thermally interacted with the MTZ. This study shows that lateral upper mantle velocity variations contribute the bulk of the observed apparent undulations of the MTZ discontinuities --Abstract, page iv
Determination of Electrostatic Charge Density and Adhesion Force of Particles on a Glass Surface Using an Electrostatic Detachment Method
Attachment of particles to certain surfaces like glass plays a critical role in engineering and natural processes. An application can be found in the solar energy field as the accumulation of dust particles on the solar photo voltaic (PV) panel surface can reduce the efficiency of the solar panel with time. The main objective was to determine whether the electrostatic detachment method can be used to calculate electrostatic charge density and the upper limit of adhesion force of dust particles at various air humidity levels. The independent variables in this investigation were particle diameter and air humidity. The dependent variables were the electrostatic charge density and the upper limit of adhesion force between a particle and the glass surface. The apparatus used in the experiment included a microscope, a high-speed camera, a high voltage amplifier, a data acquisition system and ITO-coated glass plates housed in a 3D-printed chamber. Upon application of a steady uniform electric field, the particles traveled from the bottom glass plate to the top glass plate. The arrival of particles at the top glass plate was recorded using the high-speed camera at 4100 frames per second (fps) from which the time of flight was obtained. Using image analysis software, the particle size was extracted. The experiment was carried out at relative humidity (RH) levels of 10%, 30%, and 80% at atmospheric pressure. The results showed that the upper limit of adhesion force increased with increasing particle diameters at all humidity levels; the highest adhesion force magnitudes were found at 30% RH. On the other hand, electrostatic charge density decreased with increasing particle size. Additional experiments are needed to obtain more statistically meaningful results
