Nachfolgend steht diese Untersuchung nicht im Zentrum des Blickpunktes, sondern die Menschen, die dahinter stehen, die ihre Energien und ihre Phantasie einsetzen, um das einmal Erreichte zu verbessern. High energy terahertz pulses from organic crystals: DAST and DSTMS pumped at Ti:sapphire wavelength

High energy terahertz pulses are produced by optical rectification (OR) in organic crystals DAST and DSTMS by a Ti:sapphire amplifier system centered at 0.8 microns. The simple scheme provides broadband spectra between 1 and 5 THz, when pumped by collimated 60 fs near-infrared pump pulse and it is scalable in energy. Fluence-dependent conversion efficiency and damage threshold are reported as well as optimized OR at visible wavelength.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure

"The effect of income choice on bias in policy decisions made using cost-benefit analyses"

His e-mail address is [email protected] Analysis (CBA) is often used in policy decisions to determine the economic value of various choices. Although the effects of income disparity are well accepted, one of the reasons for the success of this type of analysis is that many policy-makers and analysts consider the results of a well-crafted analysis to be largely free of partisan or political bias. Here I propose that tradeoff between the benefits of various possible jobs or careers introduce a significant bias into values imputed based upon willingness to pay measures. In particular, I demonstrate why we might expect the values of various segments of society to be differentially appreciated by CBA. Empirical evidence is presented indicating that there is a significant negative correlation between the importance an individual places on income and the willingness of that individual to forgo consumption in favor of environmental improvement, as well as a correlation between the importance of income and actual income. These results suggest that CBA as a tool of welfare economics is likely to be biased against environmental protection because concerned individuals are likely to choose careers which do not maximize consumption, thus decreasing their ability to pay for both real and hypothetical environmental improvements. Generation of broadband THz pulses in organic crystal OH1 at room temperature and 10 K

We studied the effects of cryogenic cooling of a 2-[3-(4-hydroxystyryl)-5, 5-dimethylcyclohex-2-enylidene] malononitrile (OH1) crystal on the generation of broadband THz pulses via collinear optical rectification of 1350 nm femtosecond laser pulses. Cooling of the OH1 crystal from room temperature to 10 K leads to a ~10% increase of the pump-to-THz energy conversion efficiency and a shift of the THz pulse spectra to a higher frequency range. Both effects are due the temperature variation of THz absorption and the refractive index of the OH1 crystal. This conclusion has been verified by temperature dependent measurements of the linear absorption in the THz frequency region

En effet, après avoir fait un contexte général des applications informatiques existantes ainsi que des sports les utilisant, une analyse va être faite sur l’apport de ces outils par rapport aux performances des sportifs

Représentation fluide de données multidimensionnelles dans un client riche

L'objectif de ce travail est de trouver une façon de représenter des données multidimensionnelles dans un navigateur web. L'objectif est d'élaborer un affichage fluide, flexible et ergonomique, ceci amène un ensemble de problématiques. En premier lieu, les problématiques sont expliquées et les besoins du projet sont établis. Ensuite, une évaluation des solutions existantes est réalisée afin de voir si elles répondent aux besoins et résolvent ces problématiques. Développement d'une application WEB, client-serveur vs AngularJS.js

Ce travail a pour but de comparer deux manières de concevoir des applications WEB, l’une plus ancienne, à savoir l’architecture client-serveur, l’autre plus récente, l’utilisation de la librairie AngularJS. Au travers des différents chapitres, nous allons retracer et expliquer chaque façon de faire pour ensuite réaliser un prototype d’application de gestion que nous pourrons ensuite analyser. Afin de réaliser au mieux cette comparaison, le projet sera découpé en quatre parties distinctes : La première partie sera une comparaison du client-serveur et d’AngularJS. La deuxième reviendra sur l’historique d’AngularJS ainsi que les concurrents existants. La troisième partie consistera en l’apprentissage de la librairie en utilisant les tutoriels à disposition sur le site officiel du Framework ou encore ceux de W3Schools. Enfin, en quatrième et dernière partie, je réaliserai un prototype d’application de gestion avec AngularJS que j’analyserai et auquel je donnerai un ressenti d’expérience personnel

Simultaneous electronic and the magnetic excitation of a ferromagnet by intense THz pulses

The speed of magnetization reversal is a key feature in magnetic data storage. Magnetic fields from intense THz pulses have been recently shown to induce small magnetization dynamics in Cobalt thin film on the sub-picosecond time scale. Here, we show that at higher field intensities, the THz electric field starts playing a role, strongly changing the dielectric properties of the cobalt thin film. Both the electronic and magnetic responses are found to occur simultaneously, with the electric field response persistent on a time scale orders of magnitude longer than the THz stimulu
