Modal analysis on different type of aluminium, joined by tig welding
Experimental Modal Analysis and Finite Element Analysis will be used to study the dynamic characteristic of a TIG welded joint between aluminium 1100 and aluminium 6061. The structural three-dimensional solid modelling of joining between aluminium 1100 and aluminium 6061 by TIG welding was developed using the SOLIDWORK drawing software. The finite element analysis was then performed in ALGOR software. The finite element model of the components was analyzed using the linear modal analysis approach and the experimental modal analysis was performed by using an Impact Hammer. Finally, an operating deflection shape analysis was carried out to investigate the dominant mode shape under a given operating condition. The natural frequency of the mode shape is determined and comparative study of modal analysis and finite element analysis was done from both method results. The comparison between natural frequencies of finite element modelling and model testing shows the closeness of the results. From the results, the percentage error had been determined. The percentage error is bit high because there are some errors occur during the experimental modal analysis. The experimental modal analysis is conducted with free boundary condition and the effect of damping which effect test rig by using sponge as a base of the plate is a factors as the higher percentage error. The result from the operating deflection shape analysis shows that mode two is the dominant mode shape with an operating frequency of 581 Hz

Alternative sweetener from curculigo fruits
This study gives an overview on the advantages of Curculigo Latifolia as an alternative sweetener and a health product. The purpose of this research is to provide another option to the people who suffer from diabetes. In this research, Curculigo Latifolia was chosen, due to its unique properties and widely known species in Malaysia. In order to obtain the sweet protein from the fruit, it must go through a couple of procedures. First we harvested the fruits from the Curculigo trees that grow wildly in the garden. Next, the Curculigo fruits were dried in the oven at 50 0C for 3 days. Finally, the dried fruits were blended in order to get a fine powder. Curculin is a sweet protein with a taste-modifying activity of converting sourness to sweetness. The curculin content from the sample shown are directly proportional to the mass of the Curculigo fine powder. While the FTIR result shows that the sample spectrum at peak 1634 cm–1 contains secondary amines. At peak 3307 cm–1 contains alkynes
Characterisation and modelling of static recovery process of plain carbon steel
This thesis is an investigation of static recovery process due to different pre – strain, temperature and time on recovery process. In this project, plain carbon steel specimens were subjected to tensile test and heat treatment process. The specimens were the tensile test specimen shape according ASTM E8. Box furnace was used in this project to perform the heat treatment of the specimens. The specimens were heated to a temperature which is below the recrystallization temperature with certain range of time. In this research, the recovery temperature was varied to 100oC, 200 oC, 300 oC and 400 oC. The pre – strain value was varied to 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% which is the value before the specimen break. The time was varied to 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours and 4 hours in order to analyze the static recovery process due to different time. The change of stress values were taken before and after static recovery for all variables to calculate the degree of recovery, Xrec by using Friedel’s model equation. The graphs were plotted to analyze the relationship between degree of recovery with these variables. The linear equations that obtained from each graph were compared with Friedel’s model equation in order to calculate the activation energy, Q. In this research, the activation energy for different temperature (1 hour fixed time, 10% pre - strain) was 118 kJ/mol and the value for different time (300oC fixed temperature, 5% pre - strain) was 162 kJ/mol. Finally, the activation energies that obtained were compared with other journal in order to validate the static recovery process of plain carbon steel by using Friedel’s method equation
Experimental study on process parameter to reduce wrinkling in sheet metal forming
Deep drawing operations are crucial for metal forming operations. Obtaining a defect free final product with the desired mechanical properties is very important for fulfilling the customer expectations and market competitions. Flange wrinkling is one of the fatal and most frequent defects that must be prevented. This study focuses on understanding the phenomenon of flange wrinkling and prevention method that can be applied to avoid the flange wrinkling defect. MINITAB software was used to analyze parameters in order to understand level of flange wrinkling and effect in experiments against of sheet metal. Model of a cup are used to investigate with different thickness but the blank holder force depend on spring. This process also depends on calculation, and the material that we use is mild steel. Flange wrinkling instability is illustrated in energy diagrams of the process. Effect of anisotropy on flange wrinkling is also discussed by comparing with using different thickness. Besides experimental which is conducted as conventional deep drawing operation by a hydraulic press, numerical analysis verification is also performed and this yields will show the ability to understand the effect of blank thickness on flange wrinkling formation through experimental and numerical analysis. The wave formations different sized of blanks with same metals are illustrated

Study of cryogenic machining for single tip cutting tooll using new cooling system design
In steel machining, high cutting temperature result will reduce the cutting tool life and also reduce the product quality. Conventional cutting fluid used to controlling the high cutting temperature but it is ineffective. Unfortunately, it leads to environment pollution problem. Cryogenic cooling which is an environmental friendly coolant can help rids of conventional fluid pollution problem. Present works are design and fabricate cryogenic coolant system that suit with a conventional lathe machine. Three cylindrical AISI 1045 steel tested up with TNMG TT5100 which is a Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) coated tool insert. The result compared with dry machining, machining with soluble oil as coolant and machining with cryogenic coolant; use nitrogen gas as the coolant. Results indicate the benefit of cryogenic cooling in tool life and surface finish. This may be attributed by the reduction of cutting zone temperature. Further, from the result proves that soluble oil failed to improve cutting tool life and product surface finish
