The Syrian Refugees in Lebanon: Moving Towards Securitization
This paper analyzes Lebanese policy towards Syrian refugees within their country. The prolonged conflict in Syria has generated a large-scale influx of refugees that contributed to the addition of 1.5 million to 4.5 million Lebanon population. While other Middle Eastern countries such as Jordan and Turkey responded by accepting the arrival of these refugees, Lebanon took the opposite response. Through the analysis of securitization theory and the nexus between migration and demographic balance, it can be understood that the Lebanese Government uses a speech of act strategy in conducting securitization. Speech of act is carried out through political discourse and the role of the media in portraying refugees as an existential threat that require special measure to handle them. Lebanon also uses the issue of demographic change, sectarian balance, and the emergence of the new conflicts, as issues that threaten Lebanon domestic stability and security
B\to X_s\gamma, X_s l^+ l^- decays and constraints on the mass insertion parameters in the MSSM
In this paper, we study the upper bounds on the mass insertion parameters
in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM).
We found that the information from the measured branching ratio of decay can help us to improve the upper bounds on the mass insertions
parameters \left (\delta^{u,d}_{AB})_{3j,i3}. Some regions allowed by the
data of are excluded by the requirement of a SM-like
imposed by the data of .Comment: 16 pages, 5 eps figure files, typos remove
NNLO fermionic corrections to the charm quark mass dependent matrix elements in B -> X_s gamma
We compute the virtual O(alpha_s^2) fermionic contributions to the charm
quark mass dependent matrix elements of the B -> X_s gamma decay. In the case
of a massless quark loop insertion into the gluon propagator, our result
obtained as an expansion in z=m_c^2/m_b^2 and an exact expression in terms of
multi-fold MB integrals, confirms the findings of Bieri, Greub and Steinhauser
[19]. We observe, however, large deviations in the case of a b-quark loop
insertion. The charm quark loop shows smaller, but still noticeable differences.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl
Variational Study of Weakly Coupled Triply Heavy Baryons
Baryons made of three heavy quarks become weakly coupled, when all the quarks
are sufficiently heavy such that the typical momentum transfer is much larger
than Lambda_QCD. We use variational method to estimate masses of the
lowest-lying bcc, ccc, bbb and bbc states by assuming they are Coulomb bound
states. Our predictions for these states are systematically lower than those
made long ago by Bjorken.Comment: 31 pages, 5 figure
Measurement of phi_3 with Dalitz Plot Analysis of B+=>D(*)K(*)+ Decay
Results from the Belle and BaBar experiments on measurement of the weak angle
phi_3 using a Dalitz plot analysis of the KSpi+pi- decay of the neutral D meson
from the B+=>D(*)K(*)+ process are presented. The method employs the
interference between D0 and D0bar to extract the angle phi_3, strong phase
delta and the ratio r of suppressed and allowed amplitudes.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures. To appear in the proceedings of the 7th
