Do you see what I mean?
Visualizers, like logicians, have long been concerned with meaning. Generalizing from MacEachren's overview of cartography, visualizers have to think about how people extract meaning from pictures (psychophysics), what people understand from a picture (cognition), how pictures are imbued with meaning (semiotics), and how in some cases that meaning arises within a social and/or cultural context. If we think of the communication acts carried out in the visualization process further levels of meaning are suggested. Visualization begins when someone has data that they wish to explore and interpret; the data are encoded as input to a visualization system, which may in its turn interact with other systems to produce a representation. This is communicated back to the user(s), who have to assess this against their goals and knowledge, possibly leading to further cycles of activity. Each phase of this process involves communication between two parties. For this to succeed, those parties must share a common language with an agreed meaning. We offer the following three steps, in increasing order of formality: terminology (jargon), taxonomy (vocabulary), and ontology. Our argument in this article is that it's time to begin synthesizing the fragments and views into a level 3 model, an ontology of visualization. We also address why this should happen, what is already in place, how such an ontology might be constructed, and why now
Deskripsi Karakter Morfologi Ubi Kayu (Manihot Esculenta Crantz) Juray dari Kabupaten Rokan Hulu
Cassava is an alternative food to substitute rice as a staple food. The improvement of cassava in breeding program requires many high genetic diversity of cassava. The objective of this study was to describe the morphological characters of cassava cv. Juray from Kabupaten Rokan Hulu, Riau. This research was conducted at Biology Department, FMIPA UR, for 12 months, started from March 2013 to February 2014. The cassava stems were planted and then observed on fifth and twelfth months. The results showed that cassava cv. Juray had morphological characters as follows: the stem color was grey, the stem diameter was large (3.4 cm), the stem texture was grooved, the petiole length was medium (9.77), the flowering time was 10 months after planting, the tuber shape was irregular, the external color of tuber was light brown, the tuber cortex thickness was thin (1 mm), the tuber cortex color was cream, and the root pulp color was white
KEINDAHAN BENTUK ULAT SEBAGAI SUMBER INSPIRASI DALAM PENCIPTAAN SENI PATUNG
ABSTRAK
Keindahan bentuk ulat sebagai sumber inspirasi dalam penciptaan seni patung. Ulat adalah larva dari serangga yang bersifat hama bagi tanaman. Jika diteliti lebih lanjut, ulat merupakan serangga yang memiliki karakteristik serta gerak yang lincah dan lembut. Berbagai jenis ulat yang memiliki karakter dan keunikan tersendiri dapat kita jumpai hampir di seluruh belah dunia. Keunikan ulat yang sedemikian rupa menjadikan ulat layak dijadikan sebagai sumber inspirasi dalam penciptaan karya seni patung dengan berbagai pengolahan sesuai dengan imajinasi pencipta.
Sebelum mewujudkan karya, pencipta terlebih dahulu menuangkan imajinasi pencipta melalui sketsa-sketsa yang pencipta buat. Setelah melalui proses sketsa barulah pencipta lanjutkan dengan proses pembuatan maket untuk memunculkan sisi tiga dimensional dari sketsa yang sebelumnya telah pencipta buat. Dalam proses berkarya, pencipta memadukan berbagai unsur dan struktur seni rupa sehingga tercipta sebuah karya seni patung dengan visual ulat yang unik dan menarik. Dalam memvisualisasikan karya tersebut, pencipta mempergunakan berbagai macam bahan yaitu bahan fiberglass, kayu, pelat besi, batu padas, tali ijuk, dan beton. Dalam proses finishing, pencipta mempergunakan berbagai macam finishing sesuai dengan karakter bahan yang pencipta pergunakan sehingga memunculkan karya dengan hasil akhir yang indah dan menarik.

ABSTRACT
The beauty of caterpillar as the source of inspiration in creating sculpture. Caterpillar is a flyblow of insect which is pest to the plant, if we make further study of it, caterpillar is categorized into insect family that has characteristic and agile movement also smooth. Many kind of caterpillar has character and its own uniqueness that we can see almost on all over the world. The uniqueness of caterpillar is deserved to be chosen as the inspiring idea in the making of the sculptures with various processing according to the imagination of the creator.
Before the sculpture is being made, at first the creator visualizes the imagination through sketches. When the sketching process is done then it is continued by making the miniature to get the three dimensional of the sketches which were made. In the making process, the creator uses various elements and structures of visual art till those sculptures with unique and interesting visualization of caterpillar are created. In visualizing the mentioned art works above, creator uses various kind of materials such as Fiberglass, Wood, Iron Plate, Padas Stone (the hard part of ground layers which is like rock), Rope made by palm fiber and Polyester Cement. In the finishing process, creator uses various finishing touches according to the characteristic of material which used till it gets beautiful and interesting final result.

Rancang Bangun Sistem Untuk Menentukan Tim Yang Bermain Dalam Pertandingan Futsal Menggunakan Metode Rekursif
Setiap dalam pertandingan futsal yang akan diselenggarakan, Panitia pertandingan sulit menentukan tim yang akan bermain secara objektif dengan menggunakan metode yang dapat digunakan untuk menentukan tim bermain secara cepat dan objektif. Dalam penentuan tim bermain futsal menjadi masalah panitia disetiap pertandingan, ketepatan panitia dalam menentukan tim bermain merupakan tuntunan setiap pemain yang akan bermain terlebih dahulu. Pada penelitian ini akan menghasilkan aplikasi untuk menentukan tim bermain secara cepat dan objektif dengan menggunakan metode rekursif sebagai metode dalam melakukan proses kemungkinan-kemungkinan tim bermain yang akan bertanding. Kemudian dengan proses random kemungkinan-kemungkinan yang muncul dari proses rekursif akan dipilih satu kemungkinan dari sekian banyak kemungkinan untuk menghasilkan tim bermain secara objektif. Dengan dukungan aplikasi ini panitia akan dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan dalam penentuan tim bermain futsal, yaitu secara cepat dan objektif

Isolasi Dna Tanaman Padi (Oryza Sativa L.) Asal Kecamatan Bantan, Bengkalis – Riau.
Excess of Fe in costal land in Riau Province is potential to poison the roots of plants. However,the plants have their own mechanism to overcome the Fe overload. This study was aimed to isolate the total DNAof rice plants among three local rice genotypes from Riau which are commonly planted in costal land in Bengkalis, Riau, with Fe overload resistant swamp rice variety (Mahsuri) and Fe overload sensitive rice variety (IR64). The experiment was conducted in the Laboratory of Genetics, FMIPA UR,from January to May 2014. Research methods consisted of isolation of DNA and electrophoresis. In this study isolation of DNA from five rice varieties was succesfully done. Among those DNA, concentration of total DNA which were obtained from IR64 and Amat Candu were very high
