The dispersion relations for nucleon-nucleon (NN) T-matrix in the framework
of Bethe-Salpeter equation for two spin one-half particle system and with
separable kernel of interaction are considered in the paper. The developed
expressions are applied for construction of the separable kernel of interaction
for S partial-waves in singlet and triplet channels. We calculate the low
energy scattering parameters and the phase shifts and also the deuteron binding
energy with the separable interaction. The approach can be easily extended to
higher partial-waves for NN-scattering and other reactions (anti N N-, pi

Salivary Duct Carcinoma of the Parotid Gland Originating from an Epithelial-Myoepithelial Carcinoma: Report of a Rare Case

The Version of Record is available online at: https://doi.org/10.1007/s12105-019-01034-0.Salivary duct carcinoma (SDC) is a high-grade carcinoma with poor prognosis, especially among various salivary carcinomas. In this study, we report a rare case of SDC of the parotid gland originating from an epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC). A 71-year-old Japanese man presented with swelling of the right parotid region and a right facial nerve paralysis for 10 months. He underwent extended total parotidectomy and chemoradiotherapy after the surgery. Histologically, a major part of the tumor was an androgen receptor (AR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive, gross cystic disease fluid protein-15 (GCDFP-15)-positive SDC, with a focus of a typical EMC component at the periphery of the lesion. In the transitional area of the two components, inner ductal cells of double-layered ducts showed similar morphology and immunophenotype to SDC. These findings suggest that SDC originated from the inner ductal cells of EMC. Because the tumor included an EMC as a low-grade carcinoma and an SDC as a high-grade carcinoma, we can consider our case as a dedifferentiated carcinoma as well as a hybrid tumor
Toward the Cross-Institutional Data Integration From Shibboleth Federated LMS
Through this study, we aim to examine a method for data integration in shared Learning Management System (LMS) in authentication federation. We proposed a method of transmitting ePTID and learning data with user’s consent as a method for data integration across institutions. The method is compared with the other existing methods to realize the shared LMS. We discuss the suitable method for next version of GakuNinMoodle and conclude that our requirements are not fully satisfied by a single method
Noncontiguous operon atlas for the Staphylococcus aureus genome
Bacteria synchronize the expression of genes with related functions by organizing genes into operons so that they are cotranscribed together in a single polycistronic messenger RNA. However, some cellular processes may benefit if the simultaneous production of the operon proteins coincides with the inhibition of the expression of an antagonist gene. To coordinate such situations, bacteria have evolved noncontiguous operons (NcOs), a subtype of operons that contain one or more genes that are transcribed in the opposite direction to the other operon genes. This structure results in overlapping transcripts whose expression is mutually repressed. The presence of NcOs cannot be predicted computationally and their identification requires a detailed knowledge of the bacterial transcriptome. In this study, we used direct RNA sequencing methodology to determine the NcOs map in the Staphylococcus aureus genome. We detected the presence of 18 NcOs in the genome of S. aureus and four in the genome of the lysogenic prophage 80α. The identified NcOs comprise genes involved in energy metabolism, metal acquisition and transport, toxin–antitoxin systems, and control of the phage life cycle. Using the menaquinone operon as a proof of concept, we show that disarrangement of the NcO architecture results in a reduction of bacterial fitness due to an increase in menaquinone levels and a decrease in the rate of oxygen consumption. Our study demonstrates the significance of NcO structures in bacterial physiology and emphasizes the importance of combining operon maps with transcriptomic data to uncover previously unnoticed functional relationships between neighbouring genes.This work was financially supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities grant PID2020-113494RB-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033. Usefulness of immunohistochemistry to distinguish between secretory carcinoma and acinic cell carcinoma in the salivary gland

The Version of Record is available online at: https://doi.org/10.1007/s00795-020-00256-4.Secretory carcinoma (SC) of the salivary gland is a relatively newly described disease, separate from acinic cell carcinoma (ACC), which frequently displays ETV6-NTRK3 gene fusion. However, the differences between SC and ACC remain unclear. Here, histological reevaluation of 12 formerly diagnosed ACC cases was performed, which yielded a new diagnosis of SC in four cases due to a lack of obvious acinar-like cells. Immunohistochemically, phosphorylated signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 (p-STAT5) was expressed in SC but not in ACC, whereas discovered on GIST-1 (DOG1) was expressed in ACC but not in SC. Molecular analysis was possible in three SC cases, of which two showed the ETV6-NTRK3 fusion transcript on reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction, as well as breaks in the ETV6 gene on fluorescence in situ hybridization. However, the remaining SC cases did not show this fusion transcript. Recently, several reports have suggested that SC might not be adequately diagnosed if the focus is placed solely on the ETV6-NTRK3 fusion gene due to genetic diversity. In this regard, immunohistochemistry of p-STAT5 and DOG1 is expected to be a useful alternative diagnostic tool to discriminate SC from ACC
Aberrant MUC Immunohistochemical Expressions in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

Applied Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology 31, 107 (2023); https://doi.org/10.1097/pai.0000000000001096.Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn disease (CD) are cryptogenic inflammatory bowel diseases that are suggestive of aberrant mucin (MUC) expression; however, their relationship remains unclear. Here, we examined aberrant MUC expression in intestinal samples from UC and CD patients in comparison to samples from patients with ischemic colitis and control groups. To study the expression of MUC1, MUC5AC, and MUC6 in different patient groups, we reviewed the slides stained with hematoxylin and eosin and performed immunohistochemistry. The results revealed that MUC1 was expressed more in the UC group and MUC6 in the CD group. No significant changes were observed in MUC expression in the ischemic colitis group. Overall, we demonstrated changes in MUC expression in UC and CD, which can help in the diagnosis and early clinical management of UC and CD
Dietary instructions focusing on meal-sequence and nutritional balance for prediabetes subjects: An exploratory, cluster-randomized, prospective, open-label, clinical trial
Background: Although lifestyle modifications are known to be effective in type 2 diabetes (T2D) as well as in prediabetes, adherence to a healthy diet is difficult for some, and interventions of lifestyle modifications need to be revised occasionally. Meal sequence has been gaining attention as a part of a healthy diet among T2D individuals to improve glycemia and body weight. In addition, a dietary instruction program, SMART Washoku®, which can help individuals to consume a more nutritionally balanced diet, has been developed. Methods: The current exploratory trial was designed to examine the effects of dietary instructions focusing on meal sequence and nutritional balance in individuals with prediabetes in the Japanese national health check-up and guidance program. Participants were cluster-randomized into three groups: Group A, receiving a conventional health guidance program (n = 11); Group B, receiving health guidance with dietary instructions focusing on meal sequence (n = 18); and Group C, receiving health guidance with dietary instructions focusing on nutritional balance (n = 13). Participants received health guidance education and various measurements before and 6 months after the instructions. Results: Body weight in Group B was significantly reduced compared to that in Group A, with similar adherence, while the effects on glycemia were similar between the two Groups. Body weight reduction was greater in Group C compared to that in Group A, although adherence in Group C was significantly lower than that in Group A. Conclusion: The group receiving health guidance with dietary instructions focusing on meal sequence exhibited similar adherence and greater reduction in body weight than the group receiving conventional health guidance
