    Gauged U(1)RU(1)_R supergravity on orbifold

We discuss a gauged U(1)RU(1)_R supergravity on five-dimensional orbifold (S1/Z2S^1/Z_2) in which a Z2Z_2-even U(1) gauge field takes part in the U(1)RU(1)_R gauging, and show the structure of Fayet-Iliopoulos (FI) terms allowed in such model. Some physical consequences of the FI terms are examined.Comment: 4 pages, 8 figures, talk presented at the 11th International Symposium on Particles, Strings and Cosmology (PASCOS'05), May 30 - June 4, 2005, Gyeongju, Kore

    Analytic expression for pull-or-jerk experiment

This work focuses on a theoretical analysis of a well-known inertia demonstration, which uses a weight suspended by a string with an extra string that hangs below the weight. The point in question is which string, the upper or lower, will break when pulling down on the bottom edge of the lower string at a constant pulling speed. An analytic solution for the equation of motion allows us to identify the critical value of the pulling speed, beyond which the string breaking varies from one to the other. The analysis also provides us a phase diagram that illustrates the interplay between the pulling speed and the string's elasticity in the pull-or-jerk experiment.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures; To appear in Eur. We study quantum corrections on four derivative term of vector multiplets in N=2{\cal{N}}=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. We first show splitting of quantum correction on gauge neutral hypermultiplets from U(1) vector multiplets at four derivative order. We then revisit the non-renormalization theorem given by N. Seiberg and M. Dine and show the non-renormalization theorem in mixed (coulomb plus Higgs) branch even though gauge neutral hypermultiplet develops the vacuum expectation value.Comment: 6pages, no figure, eliminate statement for N=4 SYM theor
