    A redundant frequency and time distribution system provides a multiplicity of isolated outputs, all of which are derived from three atomic frequency standards. The distribution system monitors input parameters of the signals coming from the Cesium Standards and selects one to be the primary standard, phase locks an internal oscillator which has excellent aging characteristics in the open loop mode and acts as a filter to provide phase noise improvement, and generates 1 megahertz and 100 kHz by direct synthesis. Additionally, the system distributes RF and timing signals consisting of 5 MHz, 1 MHz, 100 kHz, BCD Time-of-Day, 1 pps and 1 ppm

    Ni-dispersed fullerenes: Hydrogen storage and desorption properties

    Our study shows that the H2 storage media using Ni-dispersed fullerenes could be viable alternatives to reversible hydrogen storage. It is demonstrated that a single Ni coated on the fullerene surface can store up to three H2 molecules. Consequently, at high Ni coverage, Ni-dispersed fullerenes are considered to be the novel hydrogen storage media capable of storing ~6.8 wt % H2, thus exceeding the Department of Energy target (6.5 wt %) for automobile applications. Moreover, the H2 desorption activation barrier of 11.8 kcal/mol H2 is ideal for many practical hydrogen storage applications

    Information acquisition using eye-gaze tracking for person-following with mobile robots

    In the effort of developing natural means for human-robot interaction (HRI), signifcant amount of research has been focusing on Person-Following (PF) for mobile robots. PF, which generally consists of detecting, recognizing and following people, is believed to be one of the required functionalities for most future robots that share their environments with their human companions. Research in this field is mostly directed towards fully automating this functionality, which makes the challenge even more tedious. Focusing on this challenge leads research to divert from other challenges that coexist in any PF system. A natural PF functionality consists of a number of tasks that are required to be implemented in the system. However, in more realistic life scenarios, not all the tasks required for PF need to be automated. Instead, some of these tasks can be operated by human operators and therefore require natural means of interaction and information acquisition. In order to highlight all the tasks that are believed to exist in any PF system, this paper introduces a novel taxonomy for PF. Also, in order to provide a natural means for HRI, TeleGaze is used for information acquisition in the implementation of the taxonomy. TeleGaze was previously developed by the authors as a means of natural HRI for teleoperation through eye-gaze tracking. Using TeleGaze in the aid of developing PF systems is believed to show the feasibility of achieving a realistic information acquisition in a natural way

    Spin Polarized Photons from Axially Charged Plasma at Weak Coupling: Complete Leading Order

    In the presence of (approximately conserved) axial charge in the QCD plasma at finite temperature, the emitted photons are spin-aligned, which is a unique P- and CP-odd signature of axial charge in the photon emission observables. We compute this "P-odd photon emission rate" in weak coupling regime at high temperature limit to complete leading order in the QCD coupling constant: the leading log as well as the constant under the log. As in the P-even total emission rate in the literature, the computation of P-odd emission rate at leading order consists of three parts: 1) Compton and Pair Annihilation processes with hard momentum exchange, 2) soft t- and u-channel contributions with Hard Thermal Loop re-summation, 3) Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal (LPM) re-summation of collinear Bremstrahlung and Pair Annihilation.
