The goal of the Space Market Model (SMM) is to develop an information resource for the space industry. The SMM is intended to contain information appropriate for decision making in the space industry. The objectives of the SMM are to: (1) assemble information related to the development of the space business; (2) construct an adequate description of the emerging space market; (3) disseminate the information on the space market to forecasts and planners in government agencies and private corporations; and (4) provide timely analyses and forecasts of critical elements of the space market. An Input-Output model of market activity is proposed which are capable of transforming raw data into useful information for decision makers and policy makers dealing with the space sector

So Glad You Stayed: A Qualitative Exploration of Long-Term PA Educators\u27 Reasons for Staying in Academia

    Get PDF
This study investigated the factors, both personally and institutionally, long-term physician assistant (PA) faculty associate with longevity in their field. A qualitative, phenomenological design utilized extended interview interactions between the researcher and participants to understand why these individuals have continued in PA education for more than ten years when many faculty leave in the first three years of teaching. The personal traits of flexibility and organization were named most often as beneficial for PA educators. The data\u27s thematic analysis revealed that collegiality, strong programmatic and institutional support, and faculty development starting with a formal onboarding process were associated with PA faculty retention. These themes correlated well with a literature review on faculty retention and job satisfaction in medical educators

Stating The Sine Qua Non Of The State Without The State: The Necessity Of The State During International Humanitarian Interventions

    Get PDF
Why do international humanitarian aid interventions have sub-optimal results in weak states? States matter to the success of relief efforts, yet the irony here is that the weakness of the state is one of the criteria that both drives an international intervention and exacerbates the humanitarian emergency in the first place. To be successful, external humanitarian relief efforts require the presence of a minimally effective state. There are a number of factors that lead to INGOs unable to adapt to lack of state capacity in the field. This research examines two solutions to this issue: local community empowerment and an external actor creating a half-way house scenario to augment the weak state
