Identification of Frequency Ranges for Subharmonic Oscillations in a Relay Feedback System
This paper examines the behaviour of a single loop relay feedback system (RFS) which is driven by an external signal. It is well known that such a RFS exhibits a variety of oscillation patterns including forced and subharmonic oscillations (SO). This paper focuses on the conditions for SO. It will be shown that for an external signal with a fixed amplitude, it is possible for SO with different orders to occur simply by changing the frequency of the external signal. Similarly, for an external signal with a fixed frequency, it is possible for SO with different orders to occur when the amplitude of the external signal is varied. The conditions under which these different scenarios will occur are explored. An analysis of these conditions identifies the frequency ranges where certain orders of SO are possible for a given amplitude of the external signal. The effects of the initial conditions on the SO are illustrated and discussed. Simulation studies are presented to illustrate the result

Entanglement purification of nonlocal quantum-dot-confined electrons assisted by double-sided optical microcavities
We present a nondestructive parity-check detector (PCD) scheme for two
single-electron quantum dots embedded in double-sided optical microcavities.
Using a polarization-entangled photon pair, the PCD works in a parallel style
and is robust to the phase fluctuation of the optical path length. In addition,
we present an economic entanglement purification protocol for electron pairs
with our nondestructive PCD. The parties in quantum communication can increase
the purification efficiency and simultaneously decrease the quantum source
consumed for some particular fidelity thresholds. Therefore, our protocol has
good applications in the future quantum communication and distributed quantum

Alcohol-induced severe acute pancreatitis followed by hemolytic uremic syndrome managed with continuous renal replacement therapy
BACKGROUND: Acute kidney injury in patients with acute pancreatitis carries a poor prognosis. Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is characterized by non-immune hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and renal failure caused by platelet thrombi in the microcirculation of the kidney, and though rare in adults it is associated with high mortality and a high rate of chronic renal failure. CASE PRESENTATION: Herein, we report a case of alcohol-induced acute pancreatitis in a 38-year-old Chinese female complicated by HUS. Her renal function progressively deteriorated in 2 days, and daily continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) was thus performed for a total of 13 treatments. She also received intermittent transfusions of fresh frozen plasma. Her renal failure was successfully managed, with subsequent return of normal renal function. She was discharged 1 month after admission and follow-up at 3 months revealed normal urea and creatinine. CONCLUSION: CRRT was shown to be useful for the treatment of HUS following acute pancreatitis. Prior case reports and our case should remind clinicians that HUS is a possible complication of acute pancreatitis. This study highlights the importance of early diagnosis and prompt initiation of CRRT to prevent mortality and improve outcomes
Experimental study of THGEM detector with mini-rim
The gas gain and energy resolution of single and double THGEM detectors
(5{\times}5cm2 effective area) with mini-rims (rim is less than 10{\mu}m) were
studied. The maximum gain can reach 5{\times}103 and 2{\times}105 for single
and double THGEM respectively, while the energy resolution of 5.9 keV X-ray
varied from 18% to 28% for both single and double THGEM detectors of different
hole sizes and thicknesses.All the experiments were investigated in mixture of
noble gases(argon,neon) and small content of other gases(iso-butane,methane) at
