Examining Outcomes and Mechanisms of the Honest, Open, Proud Intervention in College Students with Mental Illness
Emerging adulthood is a developmental stage involving many changes and transitions (Arnett, 2004). The instability during this time can cause significant distress, making this a period of increased vulnerability for the development of mental illness (Kessler et al., 2007). The rise in the incidence of mental illness on college campuses has caused an increased demand for mental health services (Kadison & Digeronimo, 2004). Unfortunately, college students face many barriers to treatment, including self-stigma (Eisenberg, et al. 2009). Honest, Open, Proud for college students (HOP-C) is a peer-led group-based intervention designed to reduce self- stigma in college students living with mental illness. Using a serial mediation model, the present study investigated outcomes and mechanisms of the HOP-C intervention using data from a multi-site study across three college campuses. Results indicate that HOP-C does not reduce symptoms of depression or anxiety and does not increase institutional attachment to one\u27s college or university. However, mediation analyses reveal that higher satisfaction with college peers predicts stronger institutional attachment, and stronger institutional attachment predicts fewer depression symptoms. Clinical and policy implications of these results, as well as future directions for research on the HOP-C intervention, are discussed
Structure of the cavalry group of the Crown Standard-Bearer Mikołaj Hieronim Sieniawski, stationed in Moldavia after the battle of Khotyn (Chocim) in 1673
On 10 and 11 November 1673 Commonwealth’s armies crushed Ottoman forces at the battle of Khotyn. Victory open new theatre of the operations against High Porte: towards river Danube and on the Polish territories lost in 1672 (Podolia with Kamianets-Podilskyi and Right-bank Ukraine). Polish and Lithuanian troops were very weary after the campaign, what’s more death of King Michał Korybut Wiśniowiecki led to interregnum. Polish command decided to set up the system of border defence, to protect country until the election of new monarch, which should later lead to the new offensive. As such cavalry detachments were spread out in Podolia and Moldavia, while corps under command of Mikołaj Hieronim Sieniawski, Crown Standard-bearer was sent to occupy the latter country. Previous research mentioned that this group had between 6000 and 8000 soldiers. Thanks to document from National Library in Warsaw, we can now identify much more detailed organisation of Sieniawski’s force. He had 48 pancerni banners and two light horse banners, in total 5206 horses. Despite capturing Iași, capitol of Moldavia, Sieniawski’s troops were forced on 17 January 1674 to retreat to Poland, under pressure from the fresh Tatar attack. Despite of the withdrawal from Moldavia, border defence system was still functional and Commonwealth managed fairly quickly to elect new king.On 10 and 11 November 1673 Commonwealth’s armies crushed Ottoman forces at the battle of Khotyn. The status of drama in education in an Ontario school board
Drama in education has been describea- as a valuable
pedagogical medium and methodology, enriching child
development in the cognitive, skill, affective, and
aesthetic domains, and spanning all areas of curriculum
~ oontent. However, despite its considerable versatility and
cost-effectiveness, drama appears to maintain low status
within the education system of ontario. This thesis
investigated teacher perceptions of both the value and
status of drama in education in one ontario school board.
Data were gathered in the form of an attitude questionnaire,
which was devised for the purpose of this research and
administered to a stratified cluster sample of 126 teachers
employed in the board's elementary schools. These data were
then used to examine teacher perceptions based on their
knowledge, attitudes, and self-reported behaviour in the
classroom. Teacher characteristics of gender, teaching
assignment, years experience, and courses taken in drama
were also analyzed as potential determinants of teacher
attitudes towards drama in education. Results of the study
confirmed apparent discrepancy between teacher perceptions
of the value of drama and its current educational status.
It was indicated that what teachers value most about drama
is its capacity to enhance creativity, social skills,
empathy, personal growth, and problem-solving ability among
students. Teachers attribute its low status both to school
and board priorities of time and resources, and to
deficiencies in their knowledge and confidence in the
planning, implementation, and evaluation of drama in the
classroom. Teacher subgroup analysis revealed no
significant differences in attitudes towards the status of
drama in education; it did, however, suggest that both
teachers who have studied drama and teachers with between
ten and twenty years experience are most likely to value
drama more highly than their colleagues. Recommendations
proposed by the study include the provision of increased
- time and resource allotment for drama within the elementary
curriculum as well as increased teacher training at both
faculty of education and board inservice levels

The Jews in a Polish Private Town
Winner of the Montreal Jewish Public Library's J. I. Segal PrizeOriginally published in 1991. In the eighteenth century, more than half of the world's Jewish population lived in Polish private villages and towns owned by magnate-aristocrats. Furthermore, roughly half of Poland's entire urban population was Jewish. Thus, the study of Jews in private Polish towns is central to both Jewish history and to the history of Poland-Lithuania. The Jews in a Polish Private Town seeks to investigate the social, economic, and political history of Jews in Opatów, a private Polish town, in the context of an increasing power and influence of private towns at the expense of the Polish crown and gentry in the eighteenth century. Hundert recovers an important community from historical obscurity by providing a balanced perspective on the Jewish experience in the Polish Commonwealth and by describing the special dimensions of Jewish life in a private town
