Factors Influence Intention to Opt for Islamic Investment Schemes Among Market Players

Employing theory of reasoned action with religiosity as its additional construct in the model, this paper is aimed at examining factors influence the intention of investors to opt Islamic investment schemes in Malaysia Islamic capital markets. As many as 120 questionnaires were collected from market players in Bursa Malaysia using online survey. Afterwards, the data collected were analyzed using structural equation model to reveal the relationship of variables tested in the proposed model. The result shows that religiosity and subjective norms appeared to be the significant factors affecting intention to choose Islamic investment schemes in Malaysia Islamic capital markets. Interestingly, despite its significant role shown in previous studies, this study has shown insignificant level of the attitude in predicting the intention behavior. The managerial implications are discussed in this paper

Multiple driving forces of paddy land conversion: a lesson from Malaysia’s rice bowl state

Land is an important but finite natural resource, crucial for numerous human activities such as for settlement, transportation, forestry, agriculture, animal husbandry, industry and recreation. Land can be seen as parallel to economic growth. With a rapid growth in development and urbanisation, there is an increase need for land and for that paddy land face with the paradox of allocation for agricultural and non-agricultural sector. The allocation of land for optimal agricultural use has become a paramount issue. This paper tries to analyse the revolution of paddy land in Kedah, what drives the conversion that resulted it, so that preservation mechanism on paddy land can be outlined in the future

The effectiveness of palm oil fuel ash in preventing expansion due to alkali-silica reaction

Laboratory tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of palm oil fuel ash (POFA), a recently identified pozzolanic material, in reducing the e.xpansion of mortar bars containing Tuff as a reactive aggregate where ordinary Portland cement (OPC) was replaced, mass for mass, by 0, 10, 30 and 50% POFA. The South Ajiican NBRI Accelerated Test method was used in the experimental investigation, which revealed that palm oil fuel ash has a good potential in suppressing expansion due to alkali-silica reaction

Optical properties of diamond like carbon films prepared by DC-PECVD

Diamond-like carbon (DLC) thin films were deposited at different substrate temperatures using methane and hydrogen gas in DC-PECVD at 2x10-1Torr. From the light transmission using UV-VIS spectroscopy it was found that the optical transition had changed from allowed indirect transition to allowed direct transition as the substrate temperature increased. The Optical gap increased with temperature, highest of 3.034 eV was observed at 573 K, beyond which it dropped. Colour of the film changed from light brownish to a colourless transparent film in the higher temperature. The Urbach energy decreased from 1.25 eV to 0.75 eV with increasing substrate temperature till 573 K and a slight increase after it. This trend is attributed to change in sp3/sp2 ratio or change in structure. The cluster size decreases with temperature, resulting in larger band gap and the structure more ordered. Similar pattern is also witnessed in the emission spectrum of the photoluminescence

Silver influence of physical and thermo luminescence properties on lithium-Strontium-borate LSBO: Ag exposed to cobalt-60 gamma ray

This work investigates the properties of glow curve of lithium Strontium borate doped sliver glass (LSBO: Ag), subjected to Co-60 gamma irradiation. The glass samples were prepared in different compositions based on 15%Li2CO3+2%SrCO3 (83-x) H3BO3 +xAgNO3, where x = 0.001, 0.003, 0.005, 0.007, 0.009 and 0.01 mol% by traditional melting quenching method at temperature 1300 °C for 1 hour. The structural pattern of glass samples has been identified by X-ray diffraction. The XRD pattern shows that the samples are glasses since there is broader peak appearing in the spectral pattern. FESEM images verify the homogeneous and transmitting surface morphology of all samples. Stable glasses with Hurby parameter ~ 0.5 are achieved. EDX spectra determine the accurate elemental compositions in the samples. Physical properties are determined in terms of glass density, molar volume, polar on radius, inter-nuclear distance, and ion concentration. Glass density is found to increase from 2.45 to 2.46 g cm-1 after addition of AgNO3 concentration. The TL intensity at different compositions of lithium borate doped sliver glass after exposed to 50 Gy Co-60 gamma-rays is presented. The results clearly show that the highest TL intensity is found in glass composition of 0.09 mol% of AgNO3

Geometric View of Measurement Errors

The slope of the best fit line from minimizing the sum of the squared oblique errors is the root of a polynomial of degree four. This geometric view of measurement errors is used to give insight into the performance of various slope estimators for the measurement error model including an adjusted fourth moment estimator introduced by Gillard and Iles (2005) to remove the jump discontinuity in the estimator of Copas (1972). The polynomial of degree four is associated with a minimun deviation estimator. A simulation study compares these estimators showing improvement in bias and mean squared error

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti mutu madrasah, dari tiga aspek iaitu kepemimpinan transformasional kepala madrasah, prestasi guru, budaya belajar, terhadap mutu madrasah. Secara khusus tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam kajian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kesan kepemimpinan transformasional kepala madrasah, prestasi guru terhadap budaya belajar dan mutu madrasah. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap kepala madrasah dan guru Madrasah  Tsanawiyah Negeri di Jakarta Selatan. Dalam penelitian ini pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Metode ini digunakan karena fokus utama penelitian ini ialah untuk meneliti hubungan kepemimpinan transformasional kepala madrasah, prestasi guru, terhadap budaya belajar dan mutu madrasah. Pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan soal instrumen guna mengumpulkan data tentang faktor kepemimpinan transformasional kepala madrasah, prestasi guru dengan budaya belajar untuk peningkatan mutu madrasah. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknikanalisis data deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil yang didapat dalam penelitian adalah terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan kepemimpinan transformasional kepala madrasah dengan mutu madrasah, terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan prestasi guru dengan mutu madrasah, terdapat hubungan positif budaya belajar terhadap mutu madrasah, terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan kepemimpinan transformasional kepala madrasah dengan budaya belajar, terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan prestasi guru dengan budaya belajar
