The new format of television talk shows: the case of «La Sexta Noche»

Treball Final de Grau en Periodisme. Codi: PE0932 Curs acadèmic 2013-2014Les tertúlies han agafat especial rellevància com a espais de debat públic en les televisions generalistes. En aquest sentit, aquest article estudia el model que proposa «La Sexta Noche», un dels principals programes d’aquest àmbit que s’emet en l’actualitat. Per esclarir quin model proposa, aquest treball analitza el tractament de l’agenda temàtica que porta a terme aquest espai d’opinió i els discursos dels seus tertulians col·laboradors. Per aquesta raó, l’estudi d’aquest article combina un anàlisi de continguts quantitatiu amb un anàlisi del discurs qualitatiu; un anàlisi metodològic mixt que s’ajusta a les necessitats del treball. Per un costat s’analitzen quins són els temes amb major i menor pes dins del programa, prenent atenció als criteris de selecció informatius. Tanmateix, es desglossen les intervencions dels tertulians, cercant les estratègies del discurs més utilitzades i la posició defensada per cada col·laborador. Els resultats de la investigació mostren que la selecció temàtica del programa s’ajusta als criteris tradicionals de selecció periodística, per una banda, i que els tertulians participants d’aquestos espais d’opinió utilitzen, principalment, les estratègies discursives de la citació de dades numèriques i la desqualificació personal per articular les seues intervencions i convèncer a l’audiència.Recently, the talk shows, which are seen more as a debate show among several guests in our country, have turned into programs of public debate in general-interest televisions. In this way, this article studies the model proposed by “La Sexta Noche”, one of the most representative programs of this field broadcasted now. In order to explain the model proposed this work analyses not only how this opinion program deal with its themed agenda but also their members’ speeches. For this reason, the study of this article combines an analysis of the quantitative contents with an analysis of the qualitative speech, which is a mixed methodological analysis that comes to terms with the needs of the work. On the one hand, the matter the most and the least important of the program is analyzed by paying attention to informative selection criteria. On the other hand, the members’ interventions are broken down to search for the strategies of the speech the most used and the position defended by each member. Investigation results show a) that themed selection of the program fit in with the traditional standards of journalistic selection and b) that members of these kind of programs mainly use as strategies of the discourse the quotation of numerical data and the attack against others in order to participate in or persuade the audience

L'estatus de les llengües a la República Catalana: una breu anàlisi del desenvolupament del debat

L'article comença analitzant com es planteja i com es rep el debat, en descriu els actors principals, n'estudia succintament l'evolució i finalment n'examina breument un dels temes centrals, la conveniència o no d'atorgar el grau de llengua oficial a la llengua castellana en la constitució del nou Estat.[eng] This article analyzes the debate that has occurred in Catalonia in recent years on the status of languages in a possible future independent Catalan Republic. The article begins with an analysis of how the debate has arisen and how it has been received, describes the main actors involved, succinctly narrates its evolution and ends with a brief examination of one of its core issues, namely the convenience that Castilian be enshrined as an official language in the new State's constitution

A Free-Form Lensing Grid Solution for A1689 with New Mutiple Images

Hubble Space Telescope imaging of the galaxy cluster Abell 1689 has revealed an exceptional number of strongly lensed multiply-imaged galaxies, including high-redshift candidates. Previous studies have used this data to obtain the most detailed dark matter reconstructions of any galaxy cluster to date, resolving substructures ~25 kpc across. We examine Abell 1689 (hereafter, A1689) non-parametrically, combining strongly lensed images and weak distortions from wider field Subaru imaging, and we incorporate member galaxies to improve the lens solution. Strongly lensed galaxies are often locally affected by member galaxies, however, these perturbations cannot be recovered in grid based reconstructions because the lensing information is too sparse to resolve member galaxies. By adding luminosity-scaled member galaxy deflections to our smooth grid we can derive meaningful solutions with sufficient accuracy to permit the identification of our own strongly lensed images, so our model becomes self consistent. We identify 11 new multiply lensed system candidates and clarify previously ambiguous cases, in the deepest optical and NIR data to date from Hubble and Subaru. Our improved spatial resolution brings up new features not seen when the weak and strong lensing effects are used separately, including clumps and filamentary dark matter around the main halo. Our treatment means we can obtain an objective mass ratio between the cluster and galaxy components, for examining the extent of tidal stripping of the luminous member galaxies. We find a typical mass-to-light ratios of M/L_B = 21 inside the r<1 arcminute region that drops to M/L_B = 17 inside the r<40 arcsecond region. Our model independence means we can objectively evaluate the competitiveness of stacking cluster lenses for defining the geometric lensing-distance-redshift relation in a model independent way.Comment: 23 pages with 25 figures Replced with MNRAS submitted version.
