    A range of bismuth(III) dithiocarbamato complexes were prepared and characterized. The X-ray crystal structures of the compounds [Bi{S2CN(CH3)(C6H13)}3] (1) and [Bi{S2CN(CH3)- (C6H13)}3(C12H8N2)] (2) are reported. The preparation of Bi2S3 particulates using a wet chemical method and involving the thermalysis of Bi(III) dialkyldithiocarbamato complexes is described. The influence of several experimental parameters on the optical and morphological properties of the Bi2S3 powders was investigated. Nanosized Bi2S3 colloids were obtained having long-term stability and showing a blue shift on the optical band edge; the presence of particles exhibiting quantum size effects is discussed. Morphological welldefined Bi2S3 particles were obtained in which the fiber-type morphology is prevalent.FCT - POCTI/1999/CTM/ 3545

    Adsorption of 2,2 '-dithiodipyridine as a tool for the assembly of silver nanoparticles

    Silver nanostructured thin films stabilized by 2,2’-dithiodipyridine (2dtpy) were prepared. The Ag nanoparticles were obtained by treating the complex [Ag(2dtpy)]NO3 with NaBH4 in a methanol–toluene mixture. The films were transferred to borosilicate glass slips by a dip-coating method and were found to consist of Ag nanoparticles possibly linked via 2dtpy molecules.     Os assentados da região de Corumbá enfrentam grandes dificuldades em manter uma dieta adequada para os rebanhos bovinos. Com isso a produção decresce e, conseqüentemente, a renda das famílias. Um projeto desenvolvido em parceria com agricultores assentados da região e a Embrapa Pantanal, busca desenvolver uma estratégia de conservação de forragens adaptadas à região para fornecimento aos animais na época da estiagem. A tecnologia escolhida é a produção de feno com o uso do Secador Solar. Os produtores do Assentamento Tamarineiro II Sul que vem desenvolvendo tal estratégia têm obtido bons resultados no desempenho de seus rebanhos. O desafio é agregar mais pessoas à proposta e estabelecer práticas de manejo de espécies forrageiras com alto teor nutricional
