MSSM SUSY Searches at LEP2
The status of SUSY searches at LEP2 up to centre-of-mass energy of 202 GeV is
presented. Search strategies for sleptons, squarks, charginos and neutralinos
are discussed in the framework of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with
R-parity conservation. With no indication for the production of these particles

Diboson Production at the Tevatron
We present the latest results on the production of WW, WZ, Wgamma, Zgamma and
ZZ events at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The results are based on the
analyses of 0.2 -- 2 /fb of data collected in p pbar collisions at sqrt(s) =
1.96 TeV by CDF and DO experiments during the Tevatron Run II. Analyses of the
diboson production processes provide crucial test of the Standard Model,

Aditional Ultra-High-Resolution Observations of Ca+ Ions in the Local Insterstellar Medium
We present ultra-high-resolution (0.35 km s−1 FWHM) observations of the interstellar Ca K line towards seven nearby stars. The spectral resolution was sufficient to resolve the line profiles fully, thereby enabling us to detect hitherto unresolved velocity components, and to obtain accurate measurements of the velocity dispersions (b values). Absorption components with velocities similar to those expected for the Local Interstellar Cloud (LIC) and the closely associated ‘G cloud’ were identified towards six of the seven stars. However, in most cases the b values deduced for these components were significantly larger than the b ≈ 2.2 km s−1 (i.e. Tk ≈ 7000 K, vt ≈ 1 km s−1) expected for the LIC, and it is argued that this results from the presence of additional, spectrally unresolved, components having similar velocities and physical conditions. For two stars (δ Vel and α Pav) we detect interstellar components with much smaller b values (1.1 ± 0.3 and 0.8 ± 0.1 km s−1, respectively) than are expected for low-density clouds within the Local Bubble. In the case of the narrow α Pav component, we also find an anomalously large Na i/Ca ii column density ratio, which is indicative of a relatively high density. Thus it is possible that, in addition to LIC-type clouds, the local interstellar medium contains a population of previously undetected cooler and denser interstellar clouds
Cleavage of endogenous gamma ENaC and elevated abundance of alpha ENaC are associated with increased Na+ transport in response to apical fluid volume expansion in human H441 airway epithelial cells
Using human H441 airway epithelial cells cultured at air–liquid interface (ALI), we have uniquely correlated the functional response to apical fluid volume expansion with the abundance and cleavage of endogenous α- and γENaC proteins in the apical membrane. Monolayers cultured at ALI rapidly elevated I(sc) when inserted into fluid-filled Ussing chambers. The increase in I(sc) was not significantly augmented by the apical addition of trypsin, and elevation was abolished by the protease inhibitor aprotinin and an inhibitor of the proprotein convertase, furin. These treatments also increased the IC(50) amiloride indicating that the effect was via inhibition of highly Na(+)-selective ENaC channels. Apical fluid, 5–500 μl for 1 h in culture, increased the spontaneous starting I(sc) in a dose-dependent manner, whilst maximal fluid-induced I(sc) in the Ussing chamber was unchanged. Apical fluid expansion increased the abundance of 63–65-kDa αENaC proteins in the apical membrane. However, this could not be attributed to increased cleavage as protease inhibitors had no effect on the ratio of cleaved to non-cleaved (90 kDa) αENaC proteins. Instead, fluid expansion increased αENaC abundance in the membrane. In contrast, function correlated well with γENaC cleavage at known sites by furin and extracellular proteases. Interestingly, cleavage of γENaC was associated with increased retrieval from the membrane via the proteosomal pathway. Thus, the response to apical fluid volume expansion in H441 airway epithelial cells involves cleavage of γENaC, and changes in α- and γENaC protein abundance at the apical membrane. Power quality issues of 3MW direct-driven PMSG wind turbine
This paper presents power quality issues of a grid connected wind generation system with a MW-class direct-driven permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). A variable speed wind turbine model was simulated and developed with the simulation tool of PSCAD/EMTDC. The model includes a wind turbine with one mass-model drive train model, a PMSG model and a full-scale voltage source back to back PWM converter. The converter controller model is employed in the dq-synchronous rotating reference frame and applied to both generator and grid sides. To achieve maximum power point tracking, a tip speed ratio method is applied in machine side, whereas DC voltage control is applied in grid side to achieve constant DC voltage. Due to wind fluctuation and power oscillation as a result of wind shear and tower shadow effects (3p), there will be a fluctuation in the output power and voltage. The concerned power quality issues in this work are Harmonics, power fluctuation and flicker emission. The measurements will be carried out under different wind speed and circumstances
δ Orionis: Further temporal variability and evidence for small-scale structure in the interstellar medium
We report here the detection of both spatial and temporal variations in interstellar absorption in the line of sight to δ Orionis. First, we present new high-resolution (R≈110 000) observations of the interstellar D lines of Na i towards both δ Ori A and C. Comparison of these spectra highlights variations in absorption between the two stars, indicative of small-scale spatial structure in the interstellar medium in this direction over distances of less than ≈15 000 au (the projected separation of the two stars). Components with the largest Na i column densities and lowest velocity dispersions are, in general, found to be subject to the greatest differences; in fact the narrowest component detected is only observed in one of the sightlines. This effect has also been reported by Meyer & Blades. Secondly, we present new ultra-high-resolution (R≈900 000) Na i D1 observations and high-resolution (R≈110 000) Ca ii H & K observations of δ Ori A which, through ultra-high-resolution work conducted between 1994 and 2000, has been shown to exhibit a time-variable interstellar Na i absorption component. These new observations, while revealing the further reduction in intensity of the time-variable Na i absorption, indicate constant Ca ii absorption over the same period. This results in a dramatic reduction in the Na°/Ca+ abundance ratio, perhaps indicating the line of sight to be gradually probing a less-dense outer region of an absorbing filament
