Experimental Signature of Medium Modifications for rho and omega Mesons in the 12 GeV p + A Reactions
The invariant mass spectra of e+e- pairs produced in 12-GeV proton-induced
nuclear reactions are measured at the KEK Proton-Synchrotron. On the low-mass
side of the omega meson peak, a significant enhancement over the known hadronic
sources has been observed. The mass spectra, including the excess, are well
reproduced by a model that takes into account the density dependence of the
vector meson mass modification, as theoretically predicted.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, Version accepted for Physical Review Lette
The Hyperon-Nucleon Interaction Potential in the Bound State Soliton Model: The Case
We develop the formalism to study the hyperon-nucleon interaction potential
within the bound state approach to the SU(3) Skyrme model. The general
framework is illustrated by applying it to the diagonal potential.
The central, spin-spin and tensor components of this interaction are obtained
and compared with those derived using alternative schemes.Comment: source file, 4 ps figure

Correlated and exchange in the baryon-baryon interaction
A dynamical model for correlated two-pion and two-kaon exchange in the
baryon- baryon interaction is presented, both in the scalar-isoscalar
() and the vector-isovector () channel. The correlations between
the two pseudoscalar mesons are taken into account by means of amplitudes derived from a meson-exchange model, which is in line with the
empirical data. It is found that correlated exchange plays
an important role in the -channel for baryon-baryon states with non-
vanishing strangeness. The strength of correlated plus
exchange in the -channel decreases with the strangeness of the baryon-
baryon system becoming more negative. The results for correlated -
exchange in the vector-isovector channel deviate from what is expected in the
naive SU(3) picture for genuine -exchange. Shortcomings of a simplified
description in terms of sharp mass - and -exchange are pointed
out.Comment: 51 pages, Latex file, figures available from

The K1.8BR spectrometer system at J-PARC
A new spectrometer system was designed and constructed at the secondary beam
line K1.8BR in the hadron hall of J-PARC to investigate interactions
and -nuclear bound systems. The spectrometer consists of a high
precision beam line spectrometer, a liquid He/He/D target system, a
Cylindrical Detector System that surrounds the target to detect the decay
particles from the target region, and a neutron time-of-flight counter array
located 15 m downstream from the target position. Details of the design,
construction, and performance of the detector components are described.Comment: 33 pages, 25 figure
Measurement of the Xi-p Scattering Cross Sections at Low Energy
In this paper we report cross-section measurements for elastic and
inelastic scatterings at low energy using a scintillating fiber active target.
Upper limit on the total cross-section for the elastic scattering was found to
be 24 mb at 90% confidence level, and the total cross section for the
reaction was found to be mb. We
compare the results with currently competing theoretical estimates.Comment: 9 page
