Vertex covers and sensor networks
We consider algebraic developments of graph theory through suitable
applications in real connection problems. We investigate ideals of vertex
covers for the edge ideals associated to a significative class of connected
graphs. It is shown that algebraic procedures linked to minimal vertex covering
of such graphs are good instruments concerned about how sensor networks can be
encoded and their properties measured. Moreover algebraic properties of such
ideals are studied. Using the notion of linear quotients, standard algebraic
invariants are computed and these ideals are stated to be Cohen-Macaulay.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures. arXiv admin note: text overlap with

The research is focus on the concept of storytelling associated with product design, trying to investigate new ways of designing and a possible future scenario related to the concept of death. MY BOY BUILDS COFFINS is a gravestone made using a combination of cremation’s ashes and resin. It is composed by a series of holes in which the user can stitch a text, in order to remember the loved one. The stitching need of a particular yarn produced in Switzerland using some parts of human body. Project also provides another version which uses LED lights instead of the yarn. The LEDs - thanks to an inductive coupling - will light when It will be posed in the hole. The gravestone can be placed where you want, as if it would create a little altar staff at home. In this way, there is a real connection between the user and the dearly departed
Vertex covers in graphs with loops
We investigate ideals of vertex covers for the edge ideals associated to
considerable classes of connected graphs with loops and exhibit algebraic
information about them, such as the existence of linear quotients, the
computation of invariant values, and the Cohen-Macaulay property. These
algebraic procedures are good instruments for evaluating situations of minimal
node coverings in networks

For many years the South has been at the center of attention of the public opinion, the completion of the bridge over the Stretto di Messina, as a "resolution" passage of the connecting corridor between mainland Italy and the Sicily. That's the expression of a territorial vision of Europe based on building a network that is essential for economic exchange and north-south transport would also open a brand new relationship between continental Europe and the countries of the North African area. That vision has largely overshadowed the dynamics of the southern coastal city of our country; it’s actually proposing, on the one hand, a projected growth of settlements on the seas that surround it (Tyrrhenian, Adriatic and Ionian) to which they are very diverse forms of expression and waterfront uses of multiform coastline, on the other, a system of landing places for a substantial internal mobility (for goods and people that do not underestimate the contribution from tourism-related water) in the Mediterranean bacin.
The changes related to these new forms of urban growth would change the structure of many cities in the South, Mediterranean recover ancient paths of memory, creating new destinations: they appear involved, the traditional settlement patterns in the South, the same system of connections of short and medium distance as well as assumptions that bind to the construction of local platforms and logistics. In fact, in the "long waiting" of the bridge, there are certain situations that are heavily penalizing the South in terms of production and the same quality of life of the people, but we are also witnessing the growth of short-term initiatives aimed at reducing inconveniences and create new forms of relationships.
Some emerging questions. Is rising up the possibility of a different relationship with the sea that make the Eurocentric vision less effective? Are there determining alternative uses of coastal areas? Do we highlight new conveniences for transport solutions that bring shadows radicals assumed to origin?
It is considered advisable the "cultural review”, before operating the assumptions above and at least the same should be the subject of critical attention.

ADAM10 Localization in Temporomandibular Joint Disk with Internal Derangement: An Ex Vivo Immunohistochemical Study
The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of ADAM10 in temporomandibular joint disk with internal derangement. Twenty-five paraffin blocks of displaced temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disk specimens from earlier investigations were retrieved from the archives of the University of Catania. Of these 16 had been removed from females and 9 from males; 11 with anterior disk displacement with reduction (ADDwR) and 14 with anterior disk displacement without reduction (ADDwoR). The sections were dehydrated, embedded in paraffin and cut. Then they were incubated in 0.3% H2O2/methanol and half of sections from each sample were incubated in diluted rabbit polyclonal anti-ADAM10 antibody. Then biotinylated anti-mouse/anti-rabbit IgG was applied to the sections, followed by avidin–biotin–perioxidase complex. The results were analyzed and the results were that ADAM10 was overexpressed in the posterior band of sections from patients with ADDwR compared to the other bands of both ADDwR and ADDwoR sections. Overexpression correlated with severe histopathological degeneration. We believe these results have the potential to provide insights into the pathogenesis of TMJ disk degeneration and to help design new therapeutic approaches targeting the proteolytic events that lead to tissue degeneration. Early therapeutic block of ADAM10 activity could succeed in limiting aggrecan-rich matrix breakdown without affecting normal physiology
Open Design: Collaborative Organization and Digital Democratization
Contemporary post-industrial development has changed the organizational make up of labour in every sector, with a shift towards flexible and collaborative networks of knowledge work, to address issues such as decentralization, coordination and participation. This paper relates to recent developments in the fields of design, technology, and the social sciences in the ‘networks’ that inform knowledge development and creativity in design. Since the rise of internet, and a knowledge-based society, the concept of “network” stands for a different scheme of organization -- from hierarchical structures towards more horizontal geometries, which can develop and spread forms of collaborative creativity. While the image of the designer/artist is often someone who works alone in his office, creating unique masterpieces, design in fact happens to be highly affected by the dynamics of networking. New technologies and their accessibility are shaping a society where ‘everybody’ cam design, enabling new critical experiences of participation and also activism. This contribution to the design literature will focus on the scenarios concerning the new roles of designer, facing society, and its organisational structure through networks, while experimenting on self-production. Here, design can play a new role as an intelligent actor in complex networks, not just giving solutions with a top-down approach, moreover, spreading and developing tools for collaboration

Measurement of the atmospheric muon flux with the NEMO Phase-1 detector
The NEMO Collaboration installed and operated an underwater detector
including prototypes of the critical elements of a possible underwater km3
neutrino telescope: a four-floor tower (called Mini-Tower) and a Junction Box.
The detector was developed to test some of the main systems of the km3
detector, including the data transmission, the power distribution, the timing
calibration and the acoustic positioning systems as well as to verify the
capabilities of a single tridimensional detection structure to reconstruct muon
tracks. We present results of the analysis of the data collected with the NEMO
Mini-Tower. The position of photomultiplier tubes (PMTs) is determined through
the acoustic position system. Signals detected with PMTs are used to
reconstruct the tracks of atmospheric muons. The angular distribution of
atmospheric muons was measured and results compared with Monte Carlo
