Experimental Verification of the Number Relation at Room and Elevated Temperatures
The accuracy of the Neuber equation for predicting notch root stress-strain behavior at room temperature and at 650 C was experimentally investigated. Strains on notched specimens were measured with a non-contacting, interferometric technique and stresses were simulated with smooth specimens. Predictions of notch root stress-strain response were made from the Neuber Equation and smooth specimen behavior. Neuber predictions gave very accurate results at room temperature. However, the predicted interaction of creep and stress relaxation differed from experimentally measured behavior at 650 C

Multiwavelength analysis of the young open cluster NGC 2362
We present a multiwavelength analysis of the young open cluster NGC 2362.
UBVRcIc CCD photometric observations, together with available data in the
Chandra data base, near infrared data from the Two Micron All Sky Survey
(2MASS), and recently published Halpha spectroscopy were used to get
information about the evolutionary stage of the cluster and the main physical
properties of its stellar content. Cluster membership is estimated for every
individual star by means of ZAMS and isochrone fitting. The cluster is
confirmed to host a richly populated pre-main sequence (PMS), and to contain a
large amount of X-ray emitting stars, which reach from the PMS members of GK
spectral type, up to the most luminous OB type main sequence (MS) members. The
PMS cluster members show no significant age spread, and the comparison to both
PMS and post-MS isochrones suggests a younger age for the more massive MS than
for lower mass PMS members. The analysis allows to asses the validity of
currently used pre-main sequence evolutionary models, and supports the
suggestion of a well defined positive correlation of the X-ray emission from
PMS stars with their bolometric luminosity. Clear differences are found on the
other hand, between the X-ray activity properties of MS and PMS cluster
members, both in the relation between X-ray luminosity and bolometric

Low-lying excitations of Quantum Hall Droplets
We present the adequate circular representation of charge density excitations
in Quantum Hall droplets at filling factor 1. A novel set of operators
describes magnetoexcitons with well defined both total and center-of-mass
angular momentum. The accuracy of this description is shown by the high overlap
of the magnetoexcitons with the exact eigenstates of a quantum dot in a
magnetic field obtained from numerical calculations up to 20 electrons. From
such magnetoexcitons we get a good understanding of total energies and spectral
functions
Properties of the ground-state baryons in chiral perturbation theory
We review recent progress in the understanding of low-energy baryon structure
by means of chiral perturbation theory. In particular, we discuss the
application of this formalism to the description of various properties such as
the baryon-octet magnetic moments, the electromagnetic structure of decuplet
resonances and the hyperon vector coupling . Moreover, we present the
results on the chiral extrapolation of recent lattice QCD results on the
lowest-lying baryon masses and we predict the corresponding baryonic

Wavelength de-multiplexing properties of a single aperture flanked by periodic arrays of indentations
In this paper we explore the transmission properties of single subwavelength
apertures perforated in thin metallic films flanked by asymmetric
configurations of periodic arrays of indentations. It is shown how the
corrugation in the input side can be used to transmit selectively only two
different wavelengths. Also, by tuning the geometrical parameters defining the
corrugation of the output side, these two chosen wavelengths can emerge from
the structure as two very narrow beams propagating at well-defined directions.
This new ability of structured metals can be used as a base to build
micron-sized wavelength de-multiplexers.Comment: Accepted for publication in Photonics and Nanostructure
