Soft Gluons in Logarithmic Summations
We demonstrate that all the known single- and double-logarithm summations for
a parton distribution function can be unified in the Collins-Soper resummation
technique by applying soft approximations appropriate in different kinematic
regions to real gluon emissions. Neglecting the gluon longitudinal momentum, we
obtain the (double-logarithm) resummation for two-scale QCD processes,
and the Balitsky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov (single-logarithm) equation for one-scale
processes. Neglecting the transverse momentum, we obtain the threshold
(double-logarithm) resummation for two-scale processes, and the
Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi (single-logarithm) equation for
one-scale processes. If keeping the longitudinal and transverse momenta
simultaneously, we derive a unified resummation for large Bjorken variable ,
and a unified evolution equation appropriate for both intermediate and small

Proportional and Preemption-enabled Traffic Offloading for IP Flow Mobility:Algorithms and Performance Evaluation
IP Flow Mobility (IFOM) enables a user equipment to offload data traffic at the IP flow level. Although the procedure of IFOM-based flow offloading has been specified by 3GPP, how many IP flows should be offloaded and when offloading should be performed are not defined. Consequently, IP flows may be routed to a target access network which has a strong signal strength but with backhaul congestion or insufficient access capability. In this paper, we propose two algorithms, referred to as proportional offloading (PO), and proportional and preemption-enabled offloading (PPO), respectively, for IP flow offloading in hybrid cellular and wireless local area networks. The PO algorithm decides an optimal proportion of IP flows which could be offloaded by considering available resources at the target access network. In the PPO algorithm, both service continuity and network utilization are taken into consideration. Furthermore, a detailed analytical model is developed in order to evaluate the behavior of the proposed algorithms. The analytical model is validated through extensive simulations. The results show that by dynamically adjusting the percentage of traffic flows to be offloaded, PO can reduce blocking probability and increase resource utilization. PPO further improves the performance at the cost of slightly higher offloading overhead
Whole-body vibration training effect on physical performance and obesity in mice
The purpose of this study was to verify the beneficial effects of whole-body vibration (WBV) training on exercise performance, physical fatigue and obesity in mice with obesity induced by a high-fat diet (HFD). Male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into two groups: normal group (n=6), fed standard diet (control), and experimental group (n=18), fed a HFD. After 4-week induction, followed by 6-week WBV of 5 days per week, the 18 obese mice were divided into 3 groups (n=6 per group): HFD with sedentary control (HFD), HFD with WBV at relatively low-intensity (5.6 Hz, 0.13 g) (HFD+VL) or high-intensity (13 Hz, 0.68 g) (HFD+VH). A trend analysis revealed that WBV increased the grip strength in mice. WBV also dose-dependently decreased serum lactate, ammonia and CK levels and increased glucose level after the swimming test. WBV slightly decreased final body weight and dose-dependently decreased weights of epididymal, retroperitoneal and perirenal fat pads and fasting serum levels of alanine aminotransferase, CK, glucose, total cholesterol and triacylglycerol. Therefore, WBV could improve exercise performance and fatigue and prevent fat accumulation and obesity-associated biochemical alterations in obese mice. It may be an effective intervention for health promotion and prevention of HFD-induced obesity
A mathematical model of photopolymerization in a batch reactor
A mathematical model of a photo initiated additionpolymerization in a batch reactor was developed.
The model considered initiation, propagation and, termination to simulate the addition polymerization process, The model has the advantage that the concentration of any particular n-mer may be calculated without calculating all of its precursors. Other methods do not have this property. An analytical solution to the model for the photopolymerization of styrene was solved. The calculations were run on a VAX 8800 computer and the results were then compared with the experimental results. The calculated results fitted the experimental results to some extent. Effects from the variations of feed temperatures and light intensities were also discussed, the model predicted their influence very well
KCNN2 polymorphisms and cardiac tachyarrhythmias
Potassium calcium-activated channel subfamily N member 2 (KCNN2) encodes an integral membrane protein that forms small-conductance calcium-activated potassium (SK) channels. Recent studies in animal models show that SK channels are important in atrial and ventricular repolarization and arrhythmogenesis. However, the importance of SK channels in human arrhythmia remains unclear. The purpose of the present study was to test the association between genetic polymorphism of the SK2 channel and the occurrence of cardiac tachyarrhythmias in humans. We enrolled 327 Han Chinese, including 72 with clinically significant ventricular tachyarrhythmias (VTa) who had a history of aborted sudden cardiac death (SCD) or unexplained syncope, 98 with a history of atrial fibrillation (AF), and 144 normal controls. We genotyped 12 representative tag single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) across a 141-kb genetic region containing the KCNN2 gene; these captured the full haplotype information. The rs13184658 and rs10076582 variants of KCNN2 were associated with VTa in both the additive and dominant models (odds ratio [OR] 2.89, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.505-5.545, P = 0.001; and OR 2.55, 95% CI = 1.428-4.566, P = 0.002, respectively). After adjustment for potential risk factors, the association remained significant. The population attributable risks of these 2 variants of VTa were 17.3% and 10.6%, respectively. One variant (rs13184658) showed weak but significant association with AF in a dominant model (OR 1.91, CI = 1.025-3.570], P = 0.042). There was a significant association between the KCNN2 variants and clinically significant VTa. These findings suggest an association between KCNN2 and VTa; it also appears that KCNN2 variants may be adjunctive markers for risk stratification in patients susceptible to SCD
