Comparing cartel behavior: A simulation analysis with the System of Cartel Markers (SCM)
This work simulates the behavior of a price, quota and regional cartel in terms of indicators such as price, capacity and rate of return. As a first step the specific behavior patterns of each cartel are indicated in a graphical analysis before a comparison to a competitive benchmark has been implemented. In a second step simulation data has been applied to the System of Cartel Markers (SCM) invented by Blanckenburg and Geist. The SCM uses empirical correlation and stationarity of indicators to provide empirical evidence for cartel behavior. For the simulated cartel data the SCM delivered consistent results which underline its functionality for simulation purposes. --

The community support program\u27s role in building social support for the schizophrenic client
Stroul {1986) wrote that in the 1950s and 1960s two events occurred that have changed the way people with chronic mental illness live today. The first event was the development of new medications which could control many of the symptoms of the illnesses, thus leading the way to the release of the majority of inpatients from hospitals and institutions into the communities. The second major event, as mentioned by Stroul, was the concurrent development of the community health movement. From this movement a number of programs have grown, including the Community Support Program (CSP), which was initiated by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in 1977 (Baker, Jedrey, Intagliato, & Straus, 1993; Husted, Wentler, & Bursell, 1994)
PENERAPAN TERAPI EFEKTIVITAS AMBULANSI DINI TERHADAP PENURUNAN INTESITAS NYERI PADA PASIEN POST APPENDIKTOMI DI RUANG DAHLIA RSUD DR. T.C HILLERS MAUMERE
Load characteristics of southeastern Iowa farms using electric ranges
Most farms now have electric energy supplied from central stations. As the number of farms using electricity increased and as the application of the electrical energy to agricultural production expanded, it became evident that the electric load characteristics of farms were different from those of residential consumers. The farm is a business establishment as well as a residence. Electricity is used in brooding, water pumping, machinery repair, feed handling and processing, milking, refrigeration and many other productive operations. These uses of electricity often occur at the same time as similar uses on adjacent farms and at a time when electrical household equipment is in operation.
Load research is a detailed examination of small numbers of consumers assumed. to be representative of a large group to determine load characteristics. Many such studies have been made by the larger utilities. The information obtained is used in system design, rate analyses, long-range planning and sales promotion programs. Since most farms are served by smaller electric distribution companies and cooperatives which have been unable to undertake this type of research, the United States Department of Agriculture in cooperation with the Iowa Agricultural Experiment Station and several Iowa power suppliers is making a series of studies of farm load characteristics
ACorporation, Inc.: Corporate Form as Art Project and Advocacy
Development of the corporation was a key turning point in the institutional history of business. The concepts of life beyond the existence of its founders, limited liability, and the ability to accumulate massive amounts of capital through stock ownership changed the nature of commercial practice in the United States and around the world. This has not been without controversy, particularly as large corporations began to capture much of modern economic life. Great economic power has not always meant great responsibility, and concepts of corporate citizenship and legal “personhood” remain subjects of debate. Similarly, how corporations do, or ought to, navigate social responsibility is the subject of an extensive literature, both from legal scholars and business ethicists. This literature considers such diverse topics as the role of commons thinking in corporate governance, reporting on social responsibility issues, the interplay between economic theory and legal duties within the corporation, and so on. Yet, perhaps unsurprisingly, one area has not been the subject of significant study: the potential for responsible business advocacy through the corporate form as art
A study of factors influencing curriculum management in Bizana schools in the Eastern Cape Privince
The study sought to investigate factors influencing curriculum management in Bizana schools. A survey design which used mainly qualitative aspects of research was used in the study. Questionnaires and interview schedules were used to collect data. Participants (N=60) were made up of 10 learners,10 teachers, 10 School Management Team members ( SMTs), 10 parents and 20 district officials. The teachers, learners, parents and SMTs including principals were selected from 3 schools being a Primary School, a Junior Secondary School and a Senior Secondary School. Frequency tables were used to present quantitative data while verbal quotes were presented in support of themes that emerged from the qualitative data. The findings of the study revealed that the following factors were regarded as the causes of poor curriculum management; lack of training and skills on the part of curriculum managers, un-availability of resources in schools, the level of parental involvement in curriculum and regular systemic changes. It was recommended that the Department of Education should ensure that all curriculum managers are being trained to provide them with enough skills. The Department of Education should also supply schools with adequate resources. Parents should also be trained on curriculum issues. Too many changes in the system within a short space of time should be avoided
