Threshold Resummation for Higgs Production in Effective Field Theory

We present an effective field theory to resum the large double logarithms originated from soft-gluon radiations at small final-state hadron invariant masses in Higgs and vector boson (\gamma^*, WW and ZZ) production at hadron colliders. The approach is conceptually simple, indepaendent of details of an effective field theory formulation, and valid to all orders in sub-leading logarithms. As an example, we show the result of summing the next-to-next-to-next leading logarithms is identical to that of standard pQCD factorization method.Comment: A version to appear in Phys. Rev.

Lattice study on ηc2\eta_{c2} and X(3872)

Properties of 2+2^{-+} charmonium ηc2\eta_{c2} are investigated in quenched lattice QCD. The mass of ηc2\eta_{c2} is determined to be 3.80(3) GeV, which is close to the mass of DD-wave charmonium ψ(3770)\psi(3770) and in agreement with quark model predictions. The transition width of ηc2γJ/ψ\eta_{c2}\to \gamma J/\psi is also obtained with a value Γ=3.8(9)\Gamma=3.8(9) keV. Since the possible 2+2^{-+} assignment to X(3872) has not been ruled out by experiments, our results help to clarify the nature of X(3872).Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures. typos, grammatical errors and some references corrected, redundant discussions deleted, conclusion does not change. published versio

Spectrum and Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes of Ω\Omega baryons from lattice QCD

The Ω\Omega baryons with JP=3/2±,1/2±J^P=3/2^\pm, 1/2^\pm are studied on the lattice in the quenched approximation. Their mass levels are ordered as M3/2+<M3/2M1/2<M1/2+M_{3/2^+}<M_{3/2^-}\approx M_{1/2^-}<M_{1/2^+}, as is expected from the constituent quark model. The mass values are also close to those of the four Ω\Omega states observed in experiments, respectively. We calculate the Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes of Ω(3/2+)\Omega(3/2^+) and Ω(1/2+)\Omega(1/2^+) and find there is a radial node for the Ω(1/2+)\Omega(1/2^+) Bethe-Salpeter amplitude, which may imply that Ω(1/2+)\Omega(1/2^+) is an orbital excitation of Ω\Omega baryons as a member of the (D,LNP)=(70,02+)(D,L_N^P)=(70,0_2^+) supermultiplet in the SU(6)O(3)SU(6)\bigotimes O(3) quark model description. Our results are helpful for identifying the quantum number of experimentally observed Ω\Omega states.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Chinese Physics

    Meson Mass Decomposition

Hadron masses can be decomposed as a sum of components which are defined through hadronic matrix elements of QCD operators. The components consist of the quark mass term, the quark energy term, the glue energy term and the trace anomaly term. We calculate these components of mesons with lattice QCD for the first time. The calculation is carried out with overlap fermion on 2+12+1 flavor domain-wall fermion gauge configurations. We confirm that 50%\sim 50\% of the light pion mass comes from the quark mass and 10%\sim 10\% comes from the quark energy, whereas, the contributions are found to be the other way around for the ρ\rho mass. The combined glue components contribute 4050%\sim 40 - 50\% for both mesons. It is interesting to observe that the quark mass contribution to the mass of the vector meson is almost linear in quark mass over a large quark mass region below the charm quark mass. For heavy mesons, the quark mass term dominates the masses, while the contribution from the glue components is about 400500400\sim500 MeV for the heavy pseudoscalar and vector mesons. The charmonium hyperfine splitting is found to be dominated by the quark energy term which is consistent with the quark potential model.Comment: 7 Pages, 4 figures, contribution to the 32nd International Symposium on Lattice Field Theory (Lattice 2014), 23-28 June 2014, Columbia University, New York, NY, US

Low-energy Scattering of (DDˉ)±(D^{*}\bar{D}^{*})^\pm System and the Resonance-like Structure Zc(4025)Z_c(4025)

In this paper, low-energy scattering of the (DDˉ)±(D^{*}\bar{D}^{*})^\pm meson system is studied within L\"uscher's finite-size formalism using Nf=2N_{f}=2 twisted mass gauge field configurations. With three different pion mass values, the ss-wave threshold scattering parameters, namely the scattering length a0a_0 and the effective range r0r_0, are extracted in JP=1+J^P=1^+ channel. Our results indicate that, in this particular channel, the interaction between the two vector charmed mesons is weakly repulsive in nature hence do not support the possibility of a shallow bound state for the two mesons, at least for the pion mass values being studied. This study provides some useful information on the nature of the newly discovered resonance-like structure Zc(4025)Z_c(4025) observed in various experiments.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1403.131
