Observation of Raman active phonon with Fano lineshape in quasi-one-dimensional superconductor KCrAs
We performed a polarized Raman scattering study of quasi-one-dimensional
superconductor KCrAs. We detect two A phonons and three
E phonons. One of the A modes exhibits a nearly
temperature-independent Fano lineshape. Based on our first-principles
calculations, we ascribe this mode to the in-phase vibrations of Cr atoms
within one layer. This observation strongly suggests that the magnetic
fluctuations in KCrAs are coupled to the electronic structure
\emph{via} the lattice.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl
Effect of Li-deficiency impurities on the electron-overdoped LiFeAs superconductor
We use transport, inelastic neutron scattering, and angle resolved
photoemission experiments to demonstrate that the stoichiometric LiFeAs is an
intrinsically electron-overdoped superconductor similar to those of the
electron-overdoped NaFe1-xTxAs and BaFe2-xTxAs2 (T = Co,Ni). Furthermore, we
show that although transport properties of the stoichiometric superconducting
LiFeAs and Li-deficient nonsuperconducting Li1-xFeAs are different, their
electronic and magnetic properties are rather similar. Therefore, the
nonsuperconducting Li1-xFeAs is also in the electron overdoped regime, where
small Li deficiencies near the FeAs octahedra can dramatically suppress
superconductivity through the impurity scattering effect.Comment: 5 figures,5 page
A Short Review of the Symmetric Microscopic Model for Iron-Based High Temperature Superconductors
We briefly review the recently constructed two orbital microscopic model for
iron-based superconductors based on symmetry (PRX 2 021009(2012)). With
this faithful representation of the kinematics of the tri-layer FeAs or FeSe
structure, the model provides answers and physical pictures to fundamental
questions related to the robustness of superconductivity and pairing symmetry,
unifies different families of iron-based superconductors, casts new insight
into the connections to the other high superconductors, cuprates, and
reveals why an s-wave pairing can be stabilized by repulsive interactions.
Further progresses include that the model provides a clean understanding of
band reconstruction observed in magnetically ordered states, which is a strong
support to the kinematics of the model, and captures the essential low
energy physics of iron-based superconductors based on numerical results from
unbiased quantum Monte Carlo simulation.Comment: 15 pages, invited submission to Journal of Physics (Conference

Quasiparticle scattering and local density of states in the d-density wave phase
We study the effects of single-impurity scattering on the local density of
states in the high- cuprates. We compare the quasiparticle interference
patterns in three different ordered states: d-wave superconductor (DSC),
d-density wave (DDW), and coexisting DSC and DDW (DSC-DDW). In the coexisting
state, at energies below the DSC gap, the patterns are almost identical to
those in the pure DSC state with the same DSC gap. However, they are
significantly different for energies greater than or equal to the DSC gap. This
transition at an energy around the DSC gap can be used to test the nature of
the superconducting state of the underdoped cuprates by scanning tunneling
microscopy. Furthermore, we note that in the DDW state the effect of the
coherence factors is stronger than in the DSC state. The new features arising
due to DDW ordering are discussed.Comment: 6 page, 5 figures (Higher resolution figures are available by

Spatial Analysis of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus Epidemic among Men Who Have Sex with Men in China, 2006–2015
Background: Studies have shown a recent upsurge in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) burden among men who have sex with men (MSM) in China, especially in urban areas. For intervention planning and resource allocation, spatial analyses of HIV/AIDS case-clusters were required to identify epidemic foci and trends among MSM in China.
Methods: Information regarding MSM recorded as HIV/AIDS cases during 2006-2015 were extracted from the National Case Reporting System. Demographic trends were determined through Cochran-Armitage trend tests. Distribution of case-clusters was examined using spatial autocorrelation. Spatial-temporal scan was used to detect disease clustering. Spatial correlations between cases and socioenvironmental factors were determined by spatial regression.
Results: Between 2006 and 2015, in China, 120 371 HIV/AIDS cases were identified among MSM. Newly identified HIV/AIDS cases among self-reported MSM increased from 487 cases in 2006 to >30 000 cases in 2015. Among those HIV/AIDS cases recorded during 2006-2015, 47.0% were 20-29 years old and 24.9% were aged 30-39 years. Based on clusters of HIV/AIDS cases identified through spatial analysis, the epidemic was concentrated among MSM in large cities. Spatial-temporal clusters contained municipalities, provincial capitals, and main cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, and Guangzhou. Spatial regression analysis showed that sociodemographic indicators such as population density, per capita gross domestic product, and number of county-level medical institutions had statistically significant positive correlations with HIV/AIDS among MSM.
Conclusions: Assorted spatial analyses revealed an increasingly concentrated HIV epidemic among young MSM in Chinese cities, calling for targeted health education and intensive interventions at an early age
Accelerated electromagnetic transient (EMT) equivalent model of solid-state transformer
Accurate and efficient electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation of various types of solid-state transformers (SST) is extremely time-consuming due to the complex module structure, flexible topology connections, large number of electrical nodes and simulation time-steps limited in the range of micro-seconds. Therefore, it is urgent to develop the EMT equivalent modelling and fast simulation of SSTs for system level studies. Taking the modular multilevel converter (MMC) based SST as an example, this paper proposes an accelerated EMT model which focuses on the equivalence of the dual active bridge (DAB) based high-frequency link (HFL) in the SST. Compared with the existing algorithms, two critical factors of the proposed method that contribute the most to the efficiency improvement are the preprocessing of the nodal admittance equation and the conversion of the short-circuit admittance parameters. The proposed model is verified in PSCAD/EMTDC by comparing it with the detailed EMT model. The results show that the accelerated model is one to two orders of magnitude faster than the detailed model without sacrificing the accuracy. The experiment validation also confirms the validity of the proposed model
