Tunnelling Effect and Hawking Radiation from a Vaidya Black Hole
In this paper, we extend Parikh' work to the non-stationary black hole. As an
example of the non-stationary black hole, we study the tunnelling effect and
Hawking radiation from a Vaidya black hole whose Bondi mass is identical to its
mass parameter. We view Hawking radiation as a tunnelling process across the
event horizon and calculate the tunnelling probability. We find that the result
is different from Parikh's work because is the function of
Bondi mass m(v)
HydraPlus-Net: Attentive Deep Features for Pedestrian Analysis
Pedestrian analysis plays a vital role in intelligent video surveillance and
is a key component for security-centric computer vision systems. Despite that
the convolutional neural networks are remarkable in learning discriminative
features from images, the learning of comprehensive features of pedestrians for
fine-grained tasks remains an open problem. In this study, we propose a new
attention-based deep neural network, named as HydraPlus-Net (HP-net), that
multi-directionally feeds the multi-level attention maps to different feature
layers. The attentive deep features learned from the proposed HP-net bring
unique advantages: (1) the model is capable of capturing multiple attentions
from low-level to semantic-level, and (2) it explores the multi-scale
selectiveness of attentive features to enrich the final feature representations
for a pedestrian image. We demonstrate the effectiveness and generality of the
proposed HP-net for pedestrian analysis on two tasks, i.e. pedestrian attribute
recognition and person re-identification. Intensive experimental results have
been provided to prove that the HP-net outperforms the state-of-the-art methods
on various datasets.Comment: Accepted by ICCV 201
Unified Universal Quantum Cloning Machine and Fidelities
We present a unified universal quantum cloning machine, which combines
several different existing universal cloning machines together including the
asymmetric case. In this unified framework, the identical pure states are
projected equally into each copy initially constituted by input and one half of
the maximally entangled states. We show explicitly that the output states of
those universal cloning machines are the same. One importance of this unified
cloning machine is that the cloning procession is always the symmetric
projection which reduces dramatically the difficulties for implementation. Also
it is found that this unified cloning machine can be directly modified to the
general asymmetric case. Besides the global fidelity and the single-copy
fidelity, we also present all possible arbitrary-copy fidelities.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
No-compressing of quantum phase information
We raise a general question of quantum information theory whether the quantum
phase information can be compressed and retrieved. A general qubit contains
both amplitude and phase information, while an equatorial qubit contains only a
phase information. We study whether it is possible to compress the phase
information of n equatorial qubits into m general qubits with m being less than
n, and still those information can be retrieved perfectly. We prove that this
process is not allowed by quantum mechanics.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur
Correlation between intercalated magnetic layers and superconductivity in pressurized EuFe2(As0.81P0.19)2
We report comprehensive high pressure studies on correlation between
intercalated magnetic layers and superconductivity in EuFe2(As0.81P0.19)2
single crystal through in-situ high pressure resistance, specific heat, X-ray
diffraction and X-ray absorption measurements. We find that an unconfirmed
magnetic order of the intercalated layers coexists with superconductivity in a
narrow pressure range 0-0.5GPa, and then it converts to a ferromagnetic (FM)
order at pressure above 0.5 GPa, where its superconductivity is absent. The
obtained temperature-pressure phase diagram clearly demonstrates that the
unconfirmed magnetic order can emerge from the superconducting state. In stark
contrast, the superconductivity cannot develop from the FM state that is
evolved from the unconfirmed magnetic state. High pressure X-ray absorption
(XAS) measurements reveal that the pressure-induced enhancement of Eu's mean
valence plays an important role in suppressing the superconductivity and tuning
the transition from the unconfirmed magnetic state to a FM state. The unusual
interplay among valence state of Eu ions, magnetism and superconductivity under
pressure may shed new light on understanding the role of the intercalated
magnetic layers in Fe-based superconductors
Incidence of diarrhea caused by rotavirus infections in rural Zhengding, China: prospective, population-based surveillance.
Rotavirus is the pathogen most commonly associated with severe gastroenteritis in young children in the People's Republic of China, yet there are few population-based data on the incidence of rotavirus infection. The present study investigated the burden of rotavirus diarrhea and rotavirus infections in rural China, according to age. Population-based surveillance was used to study the incidence of rotavirus infection among children <5 years of age in 4 townships of Zhengding County, Hebei Province, China. The total population in the catchment area in 2002 was 75,630 individuals, including 2997 children aged <5 years. Stool samples were obtained and were tested for rotavirus antigen by use of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. During 2002, a total of 2010 cases of diarrhea were detected among children <5 years of age. The incidence of treated cases of diarrhea was 671 cases/1000 children/year for children <5 years of age, and it was highest for children <12 months of age (1467 cases/1000 children/year). The estimated incidence of rotavirus infection was 151 cases/1000 children/year for children <5 years of age. The highest incidence of rotavirus infection was among children aged 1-2 years (340 cases/1000 children/year). Widespread immunization of children against rotavirus before 6 months of age should be considered for the control of rotavirus diarrhea
